We just returned last night from FQ. I booked on Song for excellent rates of $175/RT for my 15yr DS and myself. The kiosk check in is pretty quick. I just scanned my e-ticket and we both came up on the screen, the system asked if we wanted to change any seating, I said no and it printed out our boarding passes. The attendant there took the baggage strips that it printed at the same time and placed our bags on the conveyor. Security was easy and off we went to wait for our flight. They load by "zones" and we were Zone 1, which is located in the front of the plane, row 2. Here's were Song is a little different than we are used to; when you go through the door of the plane you have to go left to go to your seat if it's in the front 9 rows I believe. They tell you this before boarding, but creature of habit that I am, went right upon entering the plane. oops. :o I knew they said go left, but I went right anyway and created a traffic jam trying to correct my mistake. (sorry if anyone was behind me reading this) My son was very excited about the TV's and they were pretty cool, but those headphone earplugs HURT!! Yeow! He used his CD headset so he was good to go. Oh, they do charge for movies. I thought they didn't. But that's ok, there was plenty to choose from that was free. Flight was quick and uneventful, landed on time and the crew is humorous on the speaker announcements. Always helps to ease any tense flyers (which would be me). I hate landing. Scares the "happy" right out of me. I usually have a death grip on my son's hand for landing. He asked me to be a "big girl" and try to do the landing without crippling him on the way back. lolol I can do Mission Space without batting an eye, by myself by the way; but can't handle a plane landing. I had booked National EA with the Priceless Vacation code and contract ID 6600330 that I found here on this board (thank you!). My rate was $128 and if I wasn't an hour and 2 minutes late, it would have remained $128. But, I was late so they charged me $14.33 and my total was $143 which was still worth renting the car to me. I only used it to go to the Publix then to FQ and back to MCO. I drove it a total of 46 miles, according to the man checking me in. He asked me if I got gas for the car and I was "I didn't go anywhere but from here to FQ, why would I get gas? The needle was still on full, see? Look for yourself." Too funny. He didn't charge me for topping off the tank, which was nice; but I also couldn't figure out why I would get gas if the needle didn't move. The choices on the EA on very few. I think there were a total of only 4-6 cars to even choose from. I had booked an intermediate and that's what they were. The first car I opened the door on smelled like smoke, so I tried another one and that was fine. It was a 4-door bronze colored car with Illinois plates. I can't remember the make and model. Can ya believe it?? Sorry about that. I drive an Xterra SUV so anything that little was weird for me anyway. I felt like Fred Flintstone. I just took that one and off we were for FQ!! The directions that I got off Deb's site (and she confirmed for me since I didn't understand them. Thanks DEB!) were amazing! So easy to follow and wow, is that road devoid of vehicles! I thought I took a Service Road by accident. 417 South to 536, I believe. I will always go this way from now on. Way less traffic than I-4. The Publix was really nice too. The Song flight back was filled with "bumpies" and a screaming child for 2 1/2 hours directly behind me. That was not fun. Even the flight attendants were frazzled by the time we landed. I'm not even sure what the child was crying for since she didn't speak any words. She was about 2 1/2 to 3 yrs old. The mom had 4 children, all girls; under the age of about 9. She only looked to be in her early 20's. She had her hands full. Her mother was with her as well. I heard way too many "shut ups" from her to her grandchildren. That's one thing we don't say in my house to each other. It's too mean. Let me explain. When I was a teenager I told my mother to "Shut Up" and she cried. So, those words have never been allowed since then and is known as the "s word" in my house and with my siblings and is considered worse than an actual swear or at least equal to it. We just think it is mean and hurtful and don't say it. I heard it way too many times from parents to their children during vacation. It just makes me sad. Sorry, I got lost there for a minute. Ok, so we landed just fine and I only squashed my son's hand just a little this time.
We did try something new at Orlando airport, we rented a DVD player from "Innovations" for $15.00 with a movie included. It's in the airport after you take the monorail to your gate and you return it 1 level up at Logan from baggage. They do hold $250 on your credit card until it gets returned. She said the Logan office was open until 9PM and I landed at 7:30pm but they were not open and I had to place the DVD in the drop box and just hope that they release my card of the $250. I won't do it again though, because it's too hard to find an electrical outlet to use at MCO (that wasn't being used) and the battery is only good for 2.5 hours and I rented Samurai. I didn't get to see the ending. I probably would have if I didn't have to keep stopping the movie because I couldn't even hear it with the screaming child directly behind me. Even with headphones and full volume. So, I don't know how it ended. I'll have to rent it again.
Oh, back to Song seating, I was happy about getting the front row seat before I actually sat there. I won't do that again either. If you are in the front row, everything has to be in the overhead. I mean EVERYTHING, even your purse. Or the movie I wanted to watch. There wasn't more leg room there either so I'll stick to the regular seats where I can just push my bag under the seat in front of me. At least I can get it when I need it or want it. You have to wait for the seatbelt light to go off before you can get your things out of the overhead again. I do have to say that we both like Song and would do it again, just not those seats. :) I hope I covered everything without too much rambling. If anyone has any questions let me know and I'll try to answer as best as I can. Thanks!

Thanks!
I,too,am using Song and National for my September trip. I hope things go smoothly for me as well.I'm in row 24 on the plane so I'm pretty sure I'll have to take a right, but that's a cute story!!

I see you're a FQ Vet as well. ::yes:: I love that place and it looks even nicer with the room renovations!
Song airline is so colorful and nice. Check out the Flight info on the little TV too. It keeps tabs on where you are on a map, the air speed, temp and miles. Lots of details. Pretty interesting stuff.
Yep, you will go right :) The Zone thing was weird at first but ya get used to it.
Have a great time and thank you!

Yup::yes:: ,POFQ is the best(so far(but I wanna try them all))!!
Anyway, the TV's are the exact reason I booked with Song, I have a DS2 and DS4. They already changed my flight # once but nothing else changed so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well. It's good to hear a positive story!!
