Song: Do they change/cancel flights often?

We've always flown SW or Jetblue...but Song out of BOS seems to have the best price right now during February vacation. I'm concerned, where they are run by Delta, about their history of changing flight times or cancelling flights altogether. Any Song fliers out there who can shed some light for me?

Thanks!
Sammy

and other than a couple of minutes off the original schedule, no changes.

However, we're booked for them this coming November (did this back in March) and a couple of weeks ago, they consolidated the schedule and got rid of my down/back flights. Pushed us to the earliest flights out in both directions from LGA. This did not work for us so I contacted them and got us switched from LGA to JFK on (what I think) are better timed flights.

I've just booked them again for our April trip (4/8-4/14) out of LGA but I totally expect that the schedule will change long before that. We have the 4:30 flights out/back so I have the ability to move around a bit w/o too much trouble.

I've flown song from Hartford to Florida many times, and its never been changed or cancelled. I've had a few delays but that was only due to weather. I've found them to be a very reliable airline.

I just got off the phone with Delta about this. We normally fly Song since we have skymiles with Delta out of Newark. I booked the only direct flight they offered back in April for travel to Florida this October. They cancelled the flight and rebooked us on a flight out of Newark into Atlanta and then from Atlanta onto Orlando (same with the return trip.) There's no way that I was willing to do this because I'm traveling with my one year old and two year old and six hours between airports, cars and planes wasn't going to happen.

After 40 minutes on the phone the credited me back the price of the tickets. (The tickets were supposedly non-refundable). This is the only time this has ever happened to me with them but the agent on the phone said that they are having a hard time booking the direct flight out of Newark so they are probably going to cancel what they have out there and stop offering it.

That seems ineteresting to me since every time I've flown that flight with them it's been over booked. But c'est la vie.

Sammy - I've flown Song twice and never had any flight changes until this year. We booked a Feb 2006 flight out of LGA and they cut the numbers of flights and changed the times too. Still got great flights though. They automatically placed us on a return flight which was way earlier than originally booked so I called and had them move us to the later flight, no charge.

mom2 - Rumor has it that Delta is on the verge of filing bankruptcy (like every other airline did already) and they are downscaling their operation in order to try and avoid it. The rumor further states that they will no longer be flying out of Newark at all as of November. Most of their flights will be out of JFK - great move to switch airports.

Have had flight time changes on my last two trips. I like to leave BOS around 9AM but generally can't afford it and book on an earlier flight. When they change the original flight I was on I call and tell them that the new reservation really doesn't work for me and I would prefer to be on the one around 9..its worked twice for me so far..I end up with a better and more expensive flight. So personally, Song's habit of changing flights has worked to my advantage. I am hoping the same thing happens on my next trip because I really don't like my return time but it was the most economical.

Our flight out of BOS on Thanksgiving Day has been changed three times so far but when it got far too early for us I called and they changed us back to a flight at 8:40 a.m. which was only 10 minutes later than our original flight (and much more expensive now) :cool1:

So, all in all, we're ending up nearly the same with our return flight being about 30 minutes earlier.

I'm flying on Song for this first time this November. I purchased my tickets August 8 out of Boston. If the flights are going to change, when would they notify you -- like a month before?

I am really happy with the flight times I have. But judging by these posts, all I have to do is tell Song if I'm not happy with time changes and they'll accommodate me.

Gotta tell ya -- they never notified me although I was "signed up" for it. I asked them why and never got a straight answer. Asked them if they would notify me of other changes and the response I got was "better keep checking yourself". Go figure.

Nope, they never notified me either, I agree with you, everyone should just check. Don't wait for them to notify.

My Song flights were also changed and I wasn't notified. I called and asked if they were going to let me know and they said possibly a month before my flight they would send me an e-mail. (possibly!!!) They sent me the new itinerary and two days later I checked again and yup you guessed it, changed again. I will just wait til my flight gets closer and see what time I have to be at the airport. :confused3

I usually fly Song from Boston to Orlando. It's my favorite airline. On almost every flight they have changed the timing a bit. Once a whole flight got eliminated and put with another flight. I make a habit of checking my itinerery at least once a day. Otherwise they can change a flight number and I could lose the seat I had picked. This has happened just once but that was enough for me.
I love Song but you do have to stay on top of them. My flight down in Nov and back in Dec both changed times and flight numbers. Both are Flight 1995...now is that strange or what!!??

Yup, my flights out of Boston the day after Thanksgiving have changed 3 times and they never notified me.

I'm used this though and check them periodically. It's the price I pay for booking very early on.

I've flown 2 out of BOS to Orlando and both times my flight was NOT changed. Although comming home I really wish it was changed from so early in the morning until later in the day!

These were flights in September 04 and May 05.

Lately Song has been changing their flight times to/from MCO from Bradley. For years, Delta/Song had their early 7:00AM flight down to Orlando. As of 10/31/05, this is now changed to 8:15AM. Also, the 2nd return trip from Orlando to Hartford had been around 11:30AM, but now is 1:00PM, which is a better time for me as it gives me a couple more hours at the resort.

I would recommend anyone flying Song to check/doublecheck their flight times - right up until the time you fly! I like Song because of the assigned seating and TV's because this makes my DH a happy flyer. I just wish they'd leave their flight times set as it makes me nervous, especially since I book my flights usually months ahead of time.

Yes, I have flown Song many times out of both BOS and BDL. You need to be proactive and check on your itinerary once in a while. I have had the flight times change on me and could no longer find our assigned seats, so make sure your seat assignments are also on the on-line itinerary, if not call Delta Song asap. I have signed up for the on-line alert and so far there have been no changes (I, too complained that they never notified us of the change after printing out our tickets!! They claim we would have been notified via email 24 hours prior to take off, good thing I noticed the change weeks before!) Other than that the Song flights are great especially with kids. However, bring your own food to snack on since purchasing snacks can be very expensive.
