Son Might be Under 40" - Would You Go?

Thanks, for the TOT info, Sue. I'll go back and edit the OP.

I cut and pasted from another site (http://www.mousetyme.com/HeightRequirement.html)

When I go to WDW (3 weeks :) ) I will ask the CM's at Castastrophe Canyon and Maelstrom what the limitations are. I think it is probably a way to deter lap sitting- like no bringing a baby or infant who can't sit on their own.

The official WDW site doesn't have an age limit or height limit listed on the park maps for Backstage Tour (which contains Catastrophe Canyon) or according to their webpage about it. We have brought a 3 yr old on it and no one questioned how old she was. It may not be the best attraction for some 3 yr olds because it is long and the canyon part can be scary.

Maelstrom also does not have an age or height restriction listed on the park maps or official Disney webpage. Again, it may not be one that is especially good for 3 year olds, (because of the trolls and going 'over the falls') but they can go on if you want them to.

I just wanted to correct this. My DD is not able to walk unassisted and has ridden TOT. You can bring a wheelchair close to the ride car and transfer.
Here is what it says on the official WDW Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities webpage for TOT:
""The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ "

Brave the creepy facade of a once-glorious hotel for a jolt back in time. Board a phantom elevator, shoot up 13 stories and brace yourself for a thrilling plummet... but beware! The experience just got scarier. You rocket back up, only to plummet down yet again. You dare to ride once more, but wait! That's not what happened before. That's right, now the Tower is in control, so it's never the same fear twice!

Location: Sunset Boulevard

Height Requirement: 40" minimum

Guests must transfer from motorized scooter or ECV to an available wheelchair, then from the wheelchair to the attraction/ride vehicle.

For safety, Guests should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride.

Guest-activated captioning is available on selected video monitors at this location. Please visit Guest Relations to obtain an activator.

Due to the nature of the experience, service animals are not permitted on this attraction. "

My husband was not sure if we should go this year because our son might me a tad shy of the 40 inch mark too. I got the unofficial guide to Disney and realized how MUCH there is to still do. We went last year as well and did not realize all the great rides without the book, we missed so much that we WILL NOT miss this year :) We will be there in November and my son is 38 1/2 inches with out shoes but he will be 2 ½ on august 2nd so I am pretty sure he will grow - I bet your son will too. I am prepared to not get to ride a few rides with him but I do press the food and tell him he must grow :) I actually put extra protein on everything he eats :) I spike his chocolate soy milk with chocolate whey powder and literally sprinkle protein powder in his sandwiches and everything else. Now I can get away with it because he is so skinny, if he doesn’t grow it won't get him anything close to fat :) He is always willing to drink chocolate soy!

Good luck and check out the book:) I think the new 2007 comes out next month… If not buy what ever is out, it will help you start thinking about what you can do on the trip… My DH thinks I am nuts:)
