Son is really upset, help!

I'm so happy for your son! But you still get to keep the ring, I hope.....:rotfl:

My son got picked up by a select team this week. Practiced with them and coach called and asked him to join the team. Some travel nothing crazy. Really like the coach a lot. Thanks to all diser for your help!

So glad to hear that things worked out in the end for your son. My DS had the disappointment of not making the cut for his golf team at his high school this Spring and he was crushed. He has been playing for years and gets private lessons each week. Through the golf pro that teaches him, we got hooked up with a competitive golf team for teens. This was just the answer for DS bruised ego. We told DS that it just means he has to practice harder until next years tryouts at school and this independent team will help him sharpen his skills in the meantime. He was sad for a while, but he got over it. ::yes::

I'm glad it worked out that your son made the golf team. It has been hard but my son is just glad to be playing. My husband is still letting me keep the ring. Thank God!

To the poster who said it is a lesson. Life is a learning experience. God didn't put us on this earth to want whats here. There are better things out there. Our family knows what hard is. My sister has MS and my other is in stage 4b cancer. This is not the end of the world. I explained that this is only a blip in what is his life and there will be better things and worse things. But as his mom I just want to hold him and take care of him and protect him! That's my job the world can treat him bad, but I will be there to make it better and let him cry. At the age of 10 when all of your close friends including you're best friend are all together and you're not involed its hard and I want to know how to make it better.
Thank You everyone!

Not sure if you should make it better. Just let him know you will be there for him. The same exact thing happen to my son at the same age. He didn't make the all star team and his best friend did. We encouraged him to support his bud and to try out for it next year. This unfortunately is the age when they move into competetive sports and while our natural instinct may be to protect him, protecting him might not be the best thing for him. he has to accept and learn from it.
My son is now 13 and as hard is it is to watch him suffer through the disappointments it is absolutely thrilling to see him pick himself up and dust himself off. He is turning into a supremely confident athelete and a great sense of sportsmanship. Of course, pm me in a couple of years after he's turned into an evil 16 year old like his older brother but that's another story. ;)

Sounds like there was a silver lining for all! I'd keep the ring too! :woohoo: :woohoo:

I am glad your son is playing b-ball, when I read your first entry I figured the coach was upset over something from previous year. It makes me believe the coach is not there for the right reasons! Golf is a great sport, the numbers on up to the child. The first 8 or 10 lowest scores make the team, my DH is a golf coach and they never have a problem although he lets everybody be on the team but usually only 10 (2 teams) can compete. I would not let my son try out for the team next year sounds like the coach is a jerk! May your sons team win every game!!

He told me that w/ what happen last year there wasn't a place for Gage. I wish you guys new my husband and I, my husband talked to the coach he never raises his voice very even tempered. Not like he yelled at the coach, just questioned why he was sitting so much. I know the reason bc he is a 1rst baseman and so is the coaches son. But oh well. I'm glad ds is not being coached by him! It has all worked out for the best. This select ball coach is very good, but really out to teach the kids fundamentals. We'll see very early.

About golf tried to get my son involved in First Tee,but the day of our interview daughter was throwing up and husband was at the firehall. So no go. Hopefully he can maybe play in the fall.
