stupid.

Admittedly, I am not always at my best. This week I have been really overworked and hardly getting any sleep. I've just been exhausted.

Yesterday, I was doing a home inspection for a realtor. After I concluded the inspection, we were chatting. I had absolutely no interest in anything she was saying, and was just wanting her lips to stop moving. Anyway, at some point, she hands me her business card and tells me to keep her in mind...

I respond by thanking her and telling her that I definitely will, and will be happy to pass her name along... At the same time that I am speaking these words, my hands (operating independently of my brain) are tearing up her business card in front of her. I do not realize that this is happening, as my hands have not yet sent that message to my brain. I do see the disgust on her face and look down to where she is looking. In my head, I'm screaming, "Stop!" while my hands are busy tearing it up.

Now, of course I was planning to tear the card up once back in my car and out of her sight. Somehow that thought got ahead of itself. I apologized to her, saying that I did not know how that just happened. I began asking if she had another card and was cut off by her (deservingly so). She said something about expecting the inspection report in the morning, and abruptly left.

Does this ever happen to anyone else - where your body seemingly does something independent of your brain? This isn't the first time I have done something stupid like this. I'm just wondering if this happens to others, or if I'm slightly off... or both.

I can see this happening when a person is really tired so I wouldn't worry. I shouldn't have but seeing this in my mind made me laugh. How embarassing though!

That's okay. Although thoroughly embarrassed while it was happening, it took everything I had to hold in the laughter at my own stupidity.

:lmao:

This is one of the best posts I've ever read, thanks, I really needed a good laugh!!

or if I'm slightly off... or both.

my answer is Both!!! :rotfl: j/k!

I've certainly done MANY stupid things in my life... you just want a rewind button sometimes! We've all been there - not quite what you did, but in our own way! My mouth is usually my downfall - things come flying out sometimes before my brain can stop it! oh well, we go on, right?

thanks for the laugh!!! I'll remember to post my next stupid moment! :goodvibes

Oh my gosh!! You're such a dork and I can't stop laughing. How funny!!!! I really wish you had a picture of her face while you were doing this.

Gee thanks, I had abdominal surgery a week ago and I am holding my stomach because I cannot stop laughing. :lmao::lmao:

In our house when we do something like this we usually follow it up with "Did I really say that or did I just think it?"

I am curious if the realtor will eventually find the humor in this and share it with others too.

Thanks again for the great chuckle!

I'm sure you were horrified at the time but it is pretty funny! Don't you wish there was an undo button in life sometimes?

Wall-E, I had to read this one out loud to my husband. :lmao:

His comment? "Oh, man. That poor guy!" Everyone here agrees that you definitely need to get more sleep. I hope you find the time, soon!

Wall-E, you really need to have cameras following you around!! I really believe that you could have your own TV show of all the crazy things that happen to you!:lmao: This story & the "bad dog" story just crack me up. I have a new appreciation for home inspectors!;)

I must have missed the bad dog story!! Was it as amusing as this one? I vote for LESS sleep for WallE, then we can all hear all the funny stories.

The dog had nothing to do with a lack of sleep. The dog was just attracted to my rugged good looks (my theory), or was making clear that I would be the submissive one in our relationship (the theory of all the other posters). Anyway, it didn't last. She was much too possessive.

Well that's sad. Was she at least a pretty pupperoni?

Thats a great story. Would have loved to see her face as she was watching you. I can't say as I've ever done that, but have certainly said things instead of just thinking them. I think we all have our moments.

Picturing it in my mind--I'm laughing so hard I can't breathe! :rotfl:
Sounds like an old Chris Farley skit from SNL :rotfl2:
Not all of us, Wall-e, would be brave enough to share something so embarrassing, thanks for the laugh! :thumbsup2
