me and my partner are 24 and love fast food but when we go to disney (always for 2 weeks as from the uk) we usually get counter service food as its cheaper. But towards the end of our trip we get a bit bored with eating burgers all the time. we are willing to try more sit down places but are concerned the food may not be very good and would then also be out of pocket. any suggestions on site or even off site?

If you can choke down a Disney burger you should more then enjoy the sit down meals, particularly the buffets. Make a res for Boma or Hollywood & Vine. I hear Yak and Yeti is good but never been there.

Basically all of the table service restaurants in Epcot's World Showcase are very good. You might even find some decent "home cooking" at the Rose and Crown.

Also try some of the resort restaurants depending what you want to spend. You can't go wrong with Artists Point, Cal. Grill, Citricos, Flying Fish, Yachtsman's Steakhouse and choices also at Swan and Dolphin too. Many choices and all are good.

I too, like the sit down restaurants in Epcot. I like Rose & Crown, Mexico is my favorite.
I like Tony's Town Square in MK too! There are alot of good sit down restaurants in WDW. Everyone has their own favorite. I'm sure you'll get alot more feedback on where to eat at.

As a side note, DH and I eat all our lunches at Counterservice (all our dinners at sit-down) and we have yet to eat hamburgers for lunch. There are plenty of places that offer non-burger counterservice choices. Tangierine Cafe in Morrocco has excellent shawarma platters, Flame Tree Barbecue at AK - good pulled pork sandwiches, the bakery in France has quiche, Columbia Harbour House has some nice non-burger alternatives in the Magic Kingdom... there are definitely options out there if you want to avoid burgers.

If you do want to try table service, there are soooo many good options. And not all of them are expensive. Boma's at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Yak & Yeti in Animal Kingdom, and there are plenty more. Happy Eating!

Hi

We too are from the uk, went to WDW last year and are going again in March 2008. We too got bored of burgers every day after a while!

The Tomorrowland Terrace in MK is counter service BUT served noodles with fresh veggies, which was a much needed respite for our digestion! Methinks we'll be there far more often this time! Plus its a great place to watch the fireworks from...but everyone knows that so you have to get there early!

As for the sit down places, some of the top drawer places (Royal Table, Brown Derby) we didn't think were worth the price hike but others were thoroughly enjoyed. Personal fave; the 50s Primetime cafe in The Studios, where the staff treat you like kids and you can eat proper food, like Mama used to make. Plus as others said, the EPCOT World Showcase restaurants are nice - Mexico and Italy recommended.

Oh and as a Brit the Harry Ramsden fish 'n' chips ain't bad, but thats fried food again!

As they say; everyone has different tastes, check the menus first and enjoy!

offsite - there is a Denny's pretty close.

have a tendency to be on the cheap size so Pondarsus is one of my favorite places.

Orlando is a big place and just about every restuarant chain is present there.

You know, in over 25 trips to WDW, lots of CS meals, I've eaten hardly any burgers. At Pecos Bill's, I get the salad they have, Tangerine Cafe, Norway bakery sandwiches, Sommerfest Brauts, Pizzafari hot deli sandwich, French Bakery fruit and cheese plate, Polynesian Captain Cook's polynesian salad, Columbia Harbor Houise sandwiches or fish, Sunshine Seasons in the Land has so many sandwiches, salads, etc. And of course there's always Ghiardellis or B&C for a big sundae-that always makes a delicious meal!

During my last two WDW visits I discovered the food court at Pop Century actually has a fairly varied menu. A little too much fried food for my taste, but overall, quite varied and good. I was incapacitated for a good portion of my last visit and pretty much stuck at the resort for about six days.

So if you're looking for budget-friendly options and are tired of burgers, take WDW transportation from one of the parks or DTD to the value resorts and explore their menus. The dinner menus tend to be the most extensive.

As others have said, there are a lot of good, inexpensive non-burger options, especially in the World Showcase at Epcot, around the Boardwalk, and at some of the resorts (Boma is fantastic, IMHO :thumbsup2). Your best bet to avoid the "I'm starving but the only place nearby is burgers & pizza again" syndrome is to do a little bit of planning ahead so you know what your options are.

AllEars has fairly current menus posted for every conceivable eatery on site, plus general dining tips:

Tinkanddonaldfans,

We too are from the UK. We always take the attitude that while we are on holidays we are there to have fun and eat where we enjoy. This usually leads to Yatchman's steakhouse, Cali Grill etc. but we also enjoy the cheaper places like Bennigan's, Perkins etc.
This last trip (we returned last week) we were on a bit of a budget but we still managed one evening at YMSH. We achieved this by eating at bennigan's a few times more and not doing lots of the WS restaurants, in fact we ate at the Rose and Crown just once (we have to as DGF used to be a server there).
You could take a trip to the MofM and convince your BF its a visit to the cheese cake factory rather than for shopping. When infact you get the best of both worlds: great food, great shopping. My girlfriend always gets me to go shopping by promising lunch there.
We didnt count but i can guarantee that we spent less than $800 on evening meals including alcohol and DGF and i enjoy our alcohol alot. We were there for 15 nights we ate at Captain Jacks, YMSH, Rose and Crown, Bahama Breeze (a couple times), Bennigans (a few times), Olive Garden, House of Blues, Outback Steakhouse, Planet Hollywood and the new restaurant at Pointe Orlando - Red Rock Canyon.
To be honest when you consider the money you're paying for CS at lunch in the parks the sort of figures we spend on evening meals isn't unjust.
My advise is eat wherever you like as long as you enjoy it.
