Something Wierd we do not know about you???

You people are wacked!

Now... whenever I encounter someone with an accent (british, southern, Bawwwston, etc) after a few minutes I can hear my own voice changing and starting to mimic their accent. I can't help it. I literally have to catch myself and force myself to speak in my regular voice... which only makes it sound strained... I don't mean to be insulting these people, but I can't bloody 'elp it!

:rotfl2:

Haven't read past the first couple pages on this thread yet but here goes...

I am sitting here eating chopped black olives mixed with mayonnaise and putting it on top of Hawaiian bread. Sounds strange but YUM! My mom used to give it to me on top of crackers and it stuck. Only now I love it on Hawaiian bread. Of course I am another one who LOVES raw potatoes with salt! I have weird taste buds, I guess.

I used to love watching Sesame Street as a kid and, it turns out, I still do. I use my almost 2 year old as my excuse to watch it when we're home.

Oh, and DisneyMommyMichelle, I live where Elvis was born. His birthplace is nothing more than a shack though and really not worth visiting IMO (although it is a HUGE tourist attraction) so don't be jealous or anything, lol!

ETA: Thought of more while reading the thread. My BIL's (now ex) wife's mother used to date Elvis back before he was really well known.

My brother and I used to love to eat dog food. One time I told my brother to eat the red piece of dog food because I only liked the brown piece. All I know is the red piece was pretty gross and the brown piece seemed like a divine treat. Well, my brother ended up throwing up off of it and, to this day, thinks I was an awful big sister to not let him eat the "good" dog food. We have outgrown eating dog food and dog biscuits btw! ;)

I also cannot walk over grates. I am afraid I will fall in or something. I hate bridges in general. It's a phobia of mine. Swinging bridges are just not going to happen!

I used to work in a pet store. The fish did jump out of the tanks a lot.

I have a huge fear of crickets and grasshoppers (not so secret as I've shared this before) and will have a panic attack and start crying, screaming, etc. if one gets on me! It's not a pretty or dignified sight, I assure you!

I also despise being tickled. If someone even jokes about it I feel like I will hyperventilate!

I freak out if my face is covered. I feel like I will suffocate. Not a fun feeling.

It's been great reading this thread. I guess I am not quite as odd as I thought...or else you all are just as strange as me!

Let's see...

- I HATE calling people I don't know on the phone. I flat out refuse to call for take out and such. The only time I'll call a stranger is at work.. but even then I try to get someone else to do it.

- Long story short, 2 friends and I tried eating small birthday-type candles once and I was the only one who got it down.

- I used to call Garfield 'Garfiedo'. Yes, apparently all that lasagna he ate made him Italian in my little-kid mind.

I'm terrified of going over those bridges that raise to let boats through? whenever we go into downtown chicago i FREAK out when we go over them. I have to close my eyes and plug my ears so i don't hear the vrm vrm vrm vrm of the tires going over the grated bridge.... :faint: and i break out into the cold sweats!!

Thought of something else: not me but dd (12), often walks on just her toes:confused3
We had a friend over (age 40) many years ago who was the first to notice it. She said she is a "toe walker" too!

I also walk on my toes and always have. It doesn't bother me. It's just that instead of walking with my heel hitting the floor first, as a normal person does, my toes go down first...if that makes sense. My best friend in high school pointed out that my 2nd cousin does the same thing. What are the odds? It hasn't caused either of us any problems though.

Oh, here's another one. I have a huge thing about certain noises. Snoring, popping knuckles, nail biting, anything like that makes me seriously want to smack someone upside the head!

I used to bite my nails as a child.

I have a hard time eating in a restaurant because I am afraid of someone going postal. Remember Luby's? :(

I was attacked by dogs when I delivered the newspaper as a child, but I'm okay now. I have 2 cats and love all animals.

I have 3 alarms set at different times because I have a difficult time awakening. I am a heavy sleeper. :p

This is a fun thread!!!:rotfl2:

I share some of the oddities already mentioned (like: I don't wear shoes unless required, and a couple others)..so I'll add a few that I don't think have come up!

***I have never flown....terrified to the bone...yet I have been to all but 5 states (Incl. Hawaii), The Bahamas, Southern Caribbean and Europe!:thumbsup2

***I hate metal! I eat with plasticware whenever possible. Don't like the smell, feel, sound...anything about metal (except silver and gold, of course). Can't even eat canned food b/c of the taste. Plus I have a weird phobia about canned food and food poisoning...I don't know why!!..LOL

***I was one of the very first girls to play little league baseball...waaaayyyy back in 1975!

*** I love the ocean and diving.....not thrilled with sharks but far more terrified of jellyfish!! AACK!:scared1:

*** oh yeah, and did I mention I see dead people?....LOL!....no, seriously!:blush::confused3

I have to sleep completly covered with just my nose sticking out. If I wake up on my back with no covers on I panic.

Raw potatoes Rock!!!

When I get my legs waxed I have to keep my socks on just the tips of my feet, I dont want anyone looking at my toes.

Im obsessed with clean ears. I swear I notice everyones ears---Qtips people

Bar soap in public restrooms freak me out--who honestly uses those things

Heres a new one. I have been rubbing a piece of cloth/crochet between my fingers on my left hand since I was a little girl. Not the same piece of course but find the crochet on pillow covers my GM made back in the 1920s. My GM crocheted many pillowcases and bedding items so I have an endless supply. I do this when Im reading or meditating or stressed in private. My Father rubbed toothpicks between his fingers and my Mother curled her hair with her fingers when stressed. Guess its a family thing, my DH thinks its OK. Makes me feel good so what the heck. Ive never heard of anyone else with this "cloth thing" or "texture obsession". :rotfl:

Ok, after reading more of these I have another abnormal behavior:

I can't tell if milk is spoiled or not. I have eaten cereal with milk that was spoiled and didn't know it.

So now if I am not sure (I do check the date) I have dh smell it. He thinks that I am crazy that I can't smell how bad it is!

:rotfl2: Ok, but there is a poster on this thread that is driving me freakin nuts because I want to crawl through the pic in her siggie and fix all the freakin crooked pictures on the wall.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

OMG! I thought the exact same thing--stuff like that makes me CRAZY!

MY FAVE episode was the CRAYOLA facotry one!!

That's mine, too!

You people are wacked!

I do this, too. I actually don't hear it in normal conversation, but I'm always being asked if I'm from England. But when I'm around someone from England or Scotland (I'm part English and part Scottish), I noticeably pick up the accent right away and then I can't shake it!

When I was 13, I went to Europe on a class trip...after 2 days in England, I had a very pronounced accent that simply wouldn't go away.

I can't stand to have my feet touched... sometimes it is hard for me to even touch my own feet.

Mine is my ears. Do NOT touch my ears. I will go medieval on anyone who touches my ears. Makes for a difficult situation at the doctor's office when they insist on using an ear thermometer.

I can't stand anything touching my face except when I wash it. I can't stand the thought of someone's hands on my face. I don't even like my hair to fall in my face.

I'm another one who doesn't like to walk on crates on the sidewalk. When I lived in NYC, I used to think I would fall down into the subway tunnel.

I don't like using the bathroom after someone else has been in there. If it's a public restroom and it's crowded, I have no other choice. I also like to have my space when I'm in there. If I walk in a public restroom and see someone else is in there, I always go to the stall that is as far away from them as possible.

I wash my hands a lot. Even if I'm home taking a nap, when I wake up I have to wash my hands. I don't think they could get dirty when I'm sleeping, but you just never know.

I am terrified of Parrots! There's something about their eyes that just freeks me out. I cannot walk into a pet store that has Parrots or I'll start having a panic attack. My 7 yr old DS made me sit through all of the Enchanted Tiki Room last month because "They aren't real Mom, geez get a grip".

My DH also has a scratch thing. He likes it when a blanket has satin (or as he calls it "scratchy stuff") and has actually ruined blankets because he scratches at the satin with his finger until it's completely messed up. He's doing it right now actually :)
