Something Wicked this MAY Comes! 18 nights @ RPR & SFR. An April/May 2025 TR

but it’s a positive sign that Universal have tried very hard to accommodate larger folks.
For better or worse, necessary here in the land of plenty
he was concerned how I`d be with the harness after the small panic attack a few days ago, but all good.
That had to be a huge relief for both of you
Also look out for a nod to Jack the Clown icon from HHN and maybe one other
Aw, ive been avoiding spoilers, dont think i can resist a google
[]due to the pure heat outside.....🥴[/]
You look fine, 'orlando fresh' & photo ready.

Most of our glasses at home are known by our friends as aquariums with stems!
2 hands needed to balance those big boys
and the designer`s hero was indeed Jules Verne.
Got that vibe, appears to be a unique, really a great overall design in the park

I would absolutely recommend you both visiting Das Stakehaus if only for dessert or just a look, it is fabulous.

lol.....I did buy more than I planned there, I`m not usually one for buying the bigger items of merchandise, but there were some definite pieces I couldn`t resist, you`ll be spoiled for choice.

Thanks, glad you`re enjoying it and always happy to see your posts :)

I`m sure you`re happy to have your boy home now too
Well, your photos convinced me to try Flora Taverna, As you know, I am not a fan of seafood, but those prawns looked delicious. All of the food there looked yummy. It will definitely be a stop for us. I especially enjoyed reading about your ride experience! I was very happy to know that it's not like FJ. I rode FJ once and said never again. Every photo you take has so much of interest to look at, it's amazing. Thanks for the wonderful review of Flora Taverna.

It was an unspoken worry to be honest, I didn`t want Tom to think I was worried and he didn`t want to set me off worrying about the harnesses and if it would affect me lol....yes, I was glad to feel fine on the rides today.

Thank you, I felt I was having a "listless hair" day by that time!!!

lol....I do like a huge wine glass.....:thumbsup2

It is a beautifully designed park, and yes that vibe is obvious in so many ways, once you see it, you can`t unsee it.

There are plenty of nice options for you Ruth that are not seafood, they have a steak, lamb chops, beef kebab that sounds similar to the one we had in Bar Helios, it was amazing, they do a good burger and a couple of pasta dishes as well as the pizza`s.

I think you`ll be able to enjoy a beautiful meal there. We absolutely loved our meals there and would have hated to miss it.

Monster`s Unchained was a huge surprise to me, I had heard from several folks it would be much better than FJ, but being suspicious and despite trusting their opinions, I was still worried it would cause issues. But, six rides in and I was still feeling fine.

Although if you do ride and feel queasy riding it, it wasn`t me that told you that it would be fine for you, blame Gloria :rotfl:

We always had an imaginary Gloria in our office we could blame if anything went wrong on occasion, however we did have a huge company so she was easy to hide lol....

Thank you Ruth, I`m so glad you like the pictures, we were pleased with how most of them turned out mostly thanks to my wonderful husband who does have an eye for taking them for sure!

Glad you`re still enjoying the trip report Ruth :flower3:

"Blame Gloria", I love that! I can't believe you rode 6 times in a row!!! I guess it's safe for me then, LOL.

Everyone should have a "Gloria" in their life!!! She takes the blame without one word of complaint lol....

Yep, riding six times was our first stint in Dark Universe, we rode again when we went back in the dark, so, I think you should definitely try it, I was amazed how good I felt on it, it was weird as it is so similar to FJ but miles apart with how I felt on it.

Not a drop of motion sickness at all :thumbsup2

Gloria says you`ll be fine :duck: 😁

I'm loving that of course there's an Epic trip report right on time after we finalized our plans. Thank you! Like many others, I started out certain that we'd wait until next summer for Epic and then couldn't resist, especially with my adult son able and willing to go. He has some issues with motion, so I'm excited to keep reading that Monsters is better than FJ. We like scary but not true horror, so hopefully it's not too bad.

I was so far behind that it took an entire evening of reading to catch up, and then I was so sleepy I couldn't muster a response

Anyway, I love, love, love your Epic experience! Wow, everything is beautiful, and having your perspective from riding is very helpful!

I missed the marathon talk, but I have to share that Mr. Worfie completed the Boston Marathon 7 times. Mind you, he had a courtesy bib from his employer, but he didn't qualify at those blazing speeds!

I love this trip report, and I can tell you were having a fantastic time so far!
Your new hair is sassy and could not be cuter :cutie:

Tom is smiling from ear to ear -- it's all wonderful! 🍹🫖:cheer2:

:welcome: along KatieCharlotte, it is really good to see you here, hope you and yours are all doing well!!!

Monster`s Unchained is the perfect mix for what you described, it is fun scary but not horrific in any way. And yes, your son should be good with riding it, I was as I said a little nervous that it was as good as everyone said it was and I wasn`t completely convinced that I`d be ok, and I was.

So many folks have said the same thing which is very reassuring.

Yes, it is hard to resist this new park!!! When are you going?

Awwww, bless you!!! It`s horrible being so tired like that, but glad you`ve caught up :flower3:

Thanks I`m glad you enjoyed the Epic review and I`m not done yet, life has a habit of getting in the way as you know!!! But, I`m getting there, won`t be dragging it out any longer that I can help.

Kyle would love to do the Boston Marathon as you know, but to do it 7 times, wow, that is amazing. Mr Rivers from Helios was chatting to us about and he said, yes, there are other ways to be able to enter, so I wondered if it was a work thing that made it possible.

Cheers.......I do like my hair, I wasn`t sure at first, but now, wouldn`t go back to long hair.

I`m so happy you`re all caught up and yes, we were having an amazing time!!!

Glad to see you post, don`t work too hard......🍹:wave2:

We're going in early August. We're very limited in when my son can go. We've been in July before, and he and I like the heat, but my husband will need more air conditioning breaks. My teenage daughter is also going, and we're doing a day at Magic Kingdom for her because she doesn't remember the last time we were there.

We're getting the Premier Lightning Lane for all the rides at MK and staying at RP during the days we're at IoA and US, so Epic will be our only day surviving without some type of express pass. We will have early entry. I'm most interested in just seeing the new park, except that I must ride Monsters and we are Mario Kart fans.

Wandering back into Dark Universe as the sunset was upon us was very atmospheric and we had waited all day for this, it didn`t disappoint.

i-R2xqf6N-X2.jpg

The Portal is very pretty with highlights of purple as you walk through and they shimmer and swirl just to complete the effects, it is lovely. Many folks were going through but coming out, we seemed to be the only ones wandering in at this point, hopefully a good sign it wouldn`t be busy.

i-vb8Qs3v-X2.jpg

As we walked in we were again reminded of how much this little area is reminiscent of a classic HHN event, the smoke and lighting were expertly done and did everything it was supposed to make you think you were entering a dark and sinister world.

i-J4F6nsL-X2.jpg

i-j39rZT4-X2.jpg

i-zCjDWSs-X2.jpg

The name Darkmoor is perfect for this world, in the UK we have a huge area in Devon called Dartmoor, famous for sinsiter folklore such as the Hound of the Baskervilles which mentions the great Grimpen Mire and Baskerville Hall and the horrors it brings along with the infamous Dartmoor prison which is now a museum and fascinating to see.

So Darkmoor gives us an instant similar impression of the gloom and despair you would find in such a malevolent place.

i-mDF42Bd-X2.jpg

Once you are fully in Darkmoor you can see just how close to Helios you really are, it does just take a few minutes to walk there from both worlds that are closest, Potter or here.

i-Jw28fDj-X2.jpg

We were loving seeing everything with very few people around again, it makes all the difference in the world managing to avoid crowds and everything looks so perfect in this light.

I think we would even sit "outside" in Das Stakehaus now they have tables out here, glad to hear it as it did look incredibly bare with nothing in it.

i-4Rr79cC-X2.jpg

Loved the reflection, the lighting was perfectly positioned to reflect the image on to the wall.

i-zk5LFHN-X2.jpg

This very different gift store is very well themed as once being owned by Pretorius himself, we had a glance in and it was very interesting. In the store sign it lets you know that there is a Homunculi on show inside.

Dr Pretorius was the old school friend of Dr Henry Frankenstein and who is famed to have directed Frankenstein into the ways of creating monsters. He found pleasure in growing homunculi and would keep them in jars which in itself is horrific to think of, until you see them, not pretty!!!

The fable is he came back to Darkmoor after hearing of the monster to convince Frankenstein to join forces and create an aesthetically beautiful but full size creature, Frankenstein however was still struggling to deal with the failure of his previous creations and refused to join together.

i-DBvVQc3-X2.jpg

And here we have the equivalent of the Mayor`s office in the centre of the town as it would be in Germanic history often referred to as the Chief Magistrate or Executive of the town. When we visited Bavaria they were often referred to as the Burgermeister, Master of the Citizens and the man himself in the town our family lived in was the kindest man and was so proud of his heritage, it meant the world to him to be in such a position.

i-KxnnVf7-X2.jpg

i-8jFXQmD-X2.jpg

i-RkhnrwN-X2.jpg

We wanted to do Monster`s Unchained again, the line was non existent so we wandered a little before going in and wow, it was just as good as we had thought earlier and this time we did manage to see some creatures we missed the first six times!!!

i-cRFZJ5q-X2.jpg

i-gTppVst-X2.jpg

We walked through and didn`t take a single picture, we just enjoyed taking it all in and it was worth it, especially with barely anyone else around.

We did the ride twice and loved it both times!

This is an incredible ride.

i-3qD7XRW-X2.jpg

Up next was one I wasn`t sure I wanted to do, Curse of the Werewolf only because we had been told it was quite spinny and maybe not the best idea for me as I always avoid anything that spins.

We saw the line was 25 minutes and thought we wouldn`t bother, but one of the TM`s indicated it might not be that long, so we got in line and we got to the front in around 15 minutes.

i-ZR9hm7R-X2.jpg

This was not my favourite ride of the day, it is spinny but not awful, however I probably wouldn`t do it again, it is incredibly short and I`m glad we didn`t wait any length of time for it. It`s a weird seating system, again, not bad but this one could have been so much better.

One of the main things we were very excited to see was the Burning Blade in action.

If you have seen the original 1931 Frankenstein movie, you`ll know the burning windmill is a classic and pivotal part of the history of the monster, I certainly have memories of watching the villagers with their pitchforks and hatred for the monster advancing on him as he tried to escape but was seemingly trapped in the burning windmill. As to whether he actually died or not is kind of ambiguous especially as the the movie has a different end to the novel.

Apologies if this is TMI, I can babble for hours on the classic monster movies!!!

i-hsgdvK6-X2.jpg

We were a little early, at this point, it is set off every 15 minutes and we had just missed it, so we wandered back into the Burning Blade to have a look around and there are one or two characters you will find here too that are quite interesting.

i-QscKqMc-X2.jpg

Before we see the burning windmill ignite, the Darkmoor bell tower is vibrantly heard throughout the world signalling to the villagers that the monster has been sighted, then there is a very short almost preshow before the blades do indeed ignite into vibrant flames.

The lighting of the event is beautiful, there is a very intricate process for the lighting all over the lands, but here at the Burning Blade, it is dazzling.

Then.......

AMAZING!!!!!

We would have waited some time to see this, well, you know us, not overly long :rotfl: but this was so much fun and very expertly done too, incredibly realistic and just amazing.

We did get a video of it on my phone and it looks so good on that, probably better than the pictures but what a show!!!

We took our time and meandered towards Helios again, we never intended to take the bus home tonight we always planned to get an Uber home, but thanks to our very kind friend we could pick up our purchases from the hotel before we left, so a slow walk ensued for us as we took in the last few moments of this amazing park.

Ironically we saw that Ministry of Magic had been running for the last hour, and was still running now, but truth be told, we were ready to head home, it was still blazing hot and we both wanted a shower and head to bed about now.

Leaving the park we glanced around and everything seemed perfect, the lighting enhanced this park so much and it was picture perfect both day and night, but it does come alive at night.

Walking through the doors of Helios was like a blast of life.....after the heat of the park we savoured every second of that icy cool as we entered the building. I saw a man waving, he recognised us from earlier when we were chatting to our friend and we wandered over to get our purchases.....heck, are you sure they`re all ours???

i-nK8FBm7-S.gif

Apparently we had shopped more than we realised, didn`t bode well considering we had only been here for four days!!

Ooops.

We thanked this very nice gentleman for keeping everything for us, it was very much appreciated and we were so grateful to them both. We had a brief chat before Tom ordered our Uber which was only a few minutes away, we were ready to go home.

We would be back a couple of more times to Helios only to visit the wonderful Bar Helios, but for tonight, it was back to RP.

It was around 10pm when we left Helios, our Uber driver tonight was lovely, he had been Cabin Crew for Emirates Airlines for many years and gave it up for a quieter life, lovely guy who I am sure could tell a tale or two.

I jumped in the shower first, Tom ordered some tea from room service, we were both ready for a good strong cuppa, we always ask for extra tea as they`re not very strong (hate tea bags anyway) and it there in around 10 minutes, very quick service, so we had that but we were struggling to keep our eyes open, but by 11pm we were both sound asleep, we were shattered, it had been years since we spent that much time in one theme park in one day, four hours is usually our limit, but it was worth it.

Our thoughts on what we saw of Epic Universe were positive, it is an amazing park, they have done everything so well with theming from beginning to end. We only visited Celestial Park, the dragon place, Potter and Monsters and we definitely loved Potter and Monsters.

The food we tried was a mixed bag for sure, however we would definitely give more places a try next time and by that time they should be practically perfect.

For us Mario is a non starter, it is something that just irritates me, I know that sounds grouchy, but it`s not for us so I don`t think we`ll even bother walking through that area.

We will however enjoy the other areas including Celestial Park as we never got to go on the Carousel.

Our favourite part was Monsters and Darkmoor, mainly due to our intense devotion to the genre having been fans since early childhood, we were impressed with the detail throughout whole world. We also have a love for Potter and actually think although Monster`s was our favourite world in general, the whole Potter area wins out for design, feel and just about everything else within that world. The Ministry line is like nothing else ever seen for a ride line, that was beyond our expectations, absolutely incredible.

I think for most people it would be at least a two day park and I think we will spend two days mooching around again, but we will stay at Helios for that, although we are not thrilled with the reviews recently of the hotel, but we`ll see how it goes.

Apologies for this day and whole report for having taken so long to write so far, I do have a note from my mum and a good reason ::yes::

Lazy day planned tomorrow

&

more coming right up 😊

We did fine in August when we went, July too on one occasion, we did exactly as your husband will do, plenty of aircon breaks.

It sounds a lovely trip you have planned, it`ll be lovely for your daughter to see MK again after so long.

Although we didn`t see Mario, everyone who has seen it says how wonderful it is and very true to the character and Monsters Unchained is incredible!!!

I appreciate all the Dartmoor details and Frankenstein lore. I loved the book and am very proud of the essay I wrote about it in college, but it's been a long time. Maybe I will have to reread before our trip.

I haven`t read Mary Shelley`s book in a long time, I must get round to reading it again at some point, hard to believe she was only 18 when she started writing it, amazing talent in any time. I recently had some time to fill and reread Bram Stoker`s dracula which I had forgotten just how good it was, I need to give it to a friend who asked to borrow it while I was reading it. Being honest, she`s too scared to watch any of the movies, told her she`s missing some classics!!!

Dartmoor holds a fascination for us for sure, so many legendary tales from there. It certainly has that spooky feel about it when you visit around certain places, beautiful but so wild at the same time.

SATURDAY MAY 3RD

The best laid plans never work out, do they!

We had thought we`d sleep late this morning after our full day which is very unusual for us anyway, but as always I was awake around 6am, it`s a hard habit to break getting up early. Tom can sleep longer than I can so with us having the suite I can wander through and pop on the internet or read a book while sleeping beauty carries on in the land of nod.

It doesn`t matter how long our trips are, I never want to waste a moment, so it does suit me to get up anyway.

We had a coffee meet up this morning and a lunch date with our so called second son and then not a lot, so we did take our time this morning and after responding to a couple of emails, I got showered and woke Tom up for his and then headed down to breakfast where the lovely Sydney and Anna were on this morning, two lovely girls who are so effervescent whenever you see them, they always have a smile on their faces as do all the team up here and we also looked forward to meeting some of the new staff that would be new to us since last time, lots of changes here!

We enjoyed a lazy breakfast and headed back to our room that had already been visited by housekeeping, we have the same housekeeper Monday to Friday and a different lady on the weekends, so on the days I don`t know the ladies name I leave the envelope with her daily tip marked with For the lady who cleans our room, that way she knows it`s for her. We have done this for years and I know some people don`t tip housekeeping, but we like to and will continue to do so, they don`t really have much to do in our room generally as we do like to keep it tidy, but it`s a gesture.

We went down to Tuk Tuk where we were meeting Kayla for a coffee and a catch up, by now the morning breakfast line had gone and it was fairly quiet, so we sat around by the window and a few minutes later she arrived, it was nice to see her as it had been a while and she is doing wonderfully in another hotel and it was like we only saw her yesterday.

The hour or so passed quickly and we said our goodbye`s then popped quickly back up to the room and then got the car and headed to Toojays which is only a 5 minute drive, well it can be longer if you get stuck at the lights on Sand/Turkey Lake Road, you can lose hours getting caught at those lights around this area!!

I hadn`t had a reply from Colby as to whether he was actually coming, so we got a table and said we`d wait ten minutes or so before ordering, but we had only just ordered our strawberry lemonades when we saw him come in. We were looking forward to catching up with him too.

Toojays is a place we have been coming for many years, food is your typical deli style, it is very good but the service is excellent, the older couple who have it will wander around and say hello to everyone and it does feel like you`re visiting your grandparents at times, lovely place and well worth a visit.

It sits in an area that has some other restaurants and a Publix and also where Nagoya Sushi used to be, we will miss that restaurant a lot as it had the best food and we do love little family run places and that one was exceptional.

There is also the Portuguese restaurant we did plan to go to but never got around to this trip, however we have kept it in our list of places we do want to try.

i-PC84mTW-X2.jpg

It was so nice to see Colby, he no longer works for Loews either so we were happy to hear he is doing really well and is enjoying where he is now. We have known him for many years since he was around 18 and worked at the pool, then the Club Lounge before moving on finally to work in Orchids which he loved. But, people move on all the time and our number two son was doing well with his change of company.

We were all hungry, so ordered quickly, I went for the smoked salmon platter with a side of fries Tom and I would share, it was quite a light dish but their smoked salmon is lovely!

i-zKwqGnC-X2.jpg

Colby, bless him hadn`t eaten this morning, truth be told I think he had just got up, but he ordered the Breakfast combo platter which had waffles, two eggs, sausage links, bacon, toast, home fries and I think there was something else in there too not pictured! Hungry boy.

i-VN87kN9-X2.jpg

i-cDzPjxt-X2.jpg

Tom went for a simpler option of the Triple J sandwich which included corned beef, roast beef, turkey with swiss cheese, coleslaw and their own Russian dressing which is really good.

i-mFSBqKp-X2.jpg

We sat for a couple of hours, but still had no room for dessert, their coconut cake is gorgeous but we didn`t buy any to even bring home, I did wish we had though later!

Of course even someone with a large appetite would struggle with what he had on those plates, he took some home in a box and I think his girlfriend would enjoy some of that too.

I`m forever telling him to get his darn hair cut but he completely ignores my requests 😊

i-Zgj6Tqg-X2.jpg

We go back home around 3pm and went for a quick snooze, freshened up and went down to the Club Lounge.

We didn`t plan to go offsite tonight so we both had some wine and sat and chatted to a couple who had been here a few days from Boston, Bob and Elaine, they were lovely and very easy to chat to and we both had similar views on a lot of things.

There was a man who was here on his own for part of our trip, but he was incredibly rude and was forever butting in to conversations, he was a body builder but only on his top half!! Odd guy who we avoided like the plague.....there`s always a couple of people who are politely described as "characters" they are usually very odd or occasionally worse than that!!

We`ve all met a few of those :rolleyes1

i-t2GrhL2-X2.jpg

i-vzvpnLq-X2.jpg

i-4hkWmSK-X2.jpg

We never touched any food tonight, we`re not fond of the Saturday night options so we stick to the wine and chat, however this is a very popular couple of dishes and is one of their busiest evenings.

i-zjtHJ4d-X2.jpg

i-Z6qS8bt-X2.jpg

We said our goodbye`s to Bob and Elaine as they were leaving very early next morning, I wish they had been staying longer.

A couple came over to our table and
said hello, they said they remembered us from last year, it took a while but I eventually did remember them. I always feel awful when I don`t quite recall meeting folks, but we do meet a lot of people at times on our trips, still, I do feel bad.

We had planned to leave earlier and go to IOA but we met one of the new Concierge Supervisors and chatted to him for longer than planned as well as some others in the lounge and I did think I was going to lose patience with the odd guy who was forever interrupting conversations, no need for him to be so rude. Tom said I needed to give him the "glare" or be very abrupt in very clear language.

So, with not going to the park anymore we ended up going to Citywalk and had a wander round here for an hour or so, grabbed a drink from one of the stands and sat overlooking the lagoon for an hour or so which was lovely, it was hot and we just enjoyed taking some time not doing anything except chatting and laughing the evening away.

i-sBnCtF8-X2.jpg

After some time we decided we were hungry and fancied doing something too rather than just head home, so we headed over to Pat O` Briens where we thought we`d get some good food and enjoy the Duelling Piano`s.

1751192939036.gif

It was fairly busy when we went in and we got a table against the wall which we like as you can see the whole bar area from here and it`s not too cramped which it can be in the central area, we ordered a cat 5 Margarita and a Hurricane and as I do like a good pour in a cocktail, I thought these drinks did not have enough of a kick.

1751197383754.gif

i-X29pQ4K-X2.jpg

i-FzF27Km-X2.jpg

i-nxkSvHP-X2.jpg

The Duelling Piano`s are excellent, if you`ve never experienced this place, you have to give it a bash. The singers are always good and it`s usually songs everyone knows and of course you have to join in, it`s the law!!!

One man just stopped playing as we came in, he was replaced with this young lady and she was very, very good. The guy who was opposite her was just ok, but he redeemed himself with singing a few really good songs.

i-3tHd3Gq-X2.jpg

Now for the food.

We weren`t overly thrilled with the menu to begin with, we didn`t want a burger we could get anywhere so, we went with Hot Wings for Tom and I asked for the Shrimp Po Boy.

i-GRCWgGd-X2.jpg

i-9NfWq3b-X2.jpg

1751195861872.gif

I couldn`t be this unlucky could I?

Yes, it seems I could, this meal was not even remotely edible, the fries were cold which is never a good sign, and the shrimp were completely dry, hard, bland, cold and there seemed to be a lack of any discernible sauce or flavour to the whole dish.

I admit, I never normally order deep fried shrimp in any form, but this can be a nice sandwich in certain places, however this was probably the worst sandwich ever!!

Tom`s wings were just ok, maybe a little overdone but they were edible.

i-jb3HpRb-X2.jpg

When he came to clear our plates he did ask if my meal was ok, which it clearly wasn`t, I really didn`t feel like making a fuss so I said I wasn`t hungry. I know, I should have complained, but I didn`t really think it was worth it. We ordered two more drinks and I asked for my spicy margarita to be made with Casamigos, sure no problem was his reply.

The drink below was the second attempt.....the first one had no spice at all and it was not Casamigos, you can tell the difference from generic Tequila, so I sent it back asking very nicely for some spice and my favoured Tequila for this drink.

This one was lovely and even Tom`s drink had more bite this time around, so the drinks also redeemed themselves.

The drinks were nice, but the real highlight of the evening were the piano singers, we sang our little hearts out along with everyone else in the room, it was a fabulous evening and this room had some atmosphere!!

🥴

Tom and I cannot carry a tune in a bucket, we have no musical abilities whatsoever and that includes singing!! But, we love singing and will sing whenever we get the chance.

i-MWSgSTb-X2.jpg

We stayed here singing till around 11.30 and most of the folks stayed the same all evening, certainly around us, nice crowd too. It had been a lovely evening, food aside, we had really enjoyed our time here but we won`t ever order food from here again.

I always at this point want to call a cab to take us back home straight away, RP is such a short walk from here, but it`s late and I guess I was more tired than I realised and that five minute walk home felt like an hour!!

Once we were home, I had a quick look out the window for a few minutes then we hopped into bed and it was one of those nights I often refer to when I was actually asleep before my head hit the pillow.

, but as always I was awake around 6am,
I'm the same way. I now get up routinely at 5:30 AM!!! It's difficult to sleep in especially while at Universal. It seems like men can sleep anywhere and anytime, LOL.
don`t tip housekeeping,
It is hard to believe that there are people out there who do not tip housekeeping!!! That really irritates me. Those housekeepers do a great job. I used to do cabin cleaning and I know how hard it is to work like that. We always leave a daily tip in an envelope with a thank you.
Toojays is a place we have been coming for many years, food is your typical deli
Toojays sounds like our kind of place. We love family owned restaurants. It seems like they are more friendly and really care about their business and the people who dine there.
We sat for a couple of hours, but still had no room for dessert, their coconut cake
OMGosh, Carole! I didn't know they had coconut cake. We absolutely love coconut cake. I will definitely order it on our next trip.

Looks like you had to put up with one of those boring guys who think they should cut into your conversations. That must have been very irritating. I hope you ended up giving him "the stare"!

Annnnd now I really want to go see dueling pianos! Sounds like a fun time aside from the questionable food. Our family is still dreaming of the fresh table side guac from Antojitos but may need to add this one to our list as well.

SUNDAY MAY 4TH

i-nNdtz8W-S.gif

Well, did we nearly make a mistake today!!!

I almost forgot we were moving today, I had it in my head we were moving to Sapphire on Monday, but I sent A an email last night asking when we moved and she wrote back saying it was today.....oops!!!

So, very early as always I was up and had mostly everything packed while Tom slept, then when he moved we put the third case on the bed and hand luggage bags and managed to get everything where it should be. It really doesn`t take long for us to get packed up.

We headed down for breakfast and again today was going to be a day where we didn`t really do much at all. We had arranged to meet another friend at the Mall at Millenia later this morning and looking at the weather we had made a good choice, it was chucking it down, and didn`t look like it was going to stop anytime soon.

We had another leisurely breakfast and annoying guy again came and sat at the table beside us??????

According to my husband I have a gift of being very succinct at letting people know I have no interest in talking to them or that they have annoyed me, I have a look apparently, and seems this guy seemed to have missed or chosen to ignore the signs. But this morning he did seem to realise we were not up for chatting to him. Weirdly, he leaned over the other way and interupted another family who were enjoying a nice conversation about Epic, seems despite never having been he decided he was an expert and pointed out the error of their ways on the day they spent there!!!

I was reminded of Coriolanus, a Shakespeare play and a famous quote which stated "more of your conversation would infect my brain" it seemed fitting somehow.

Anyway, we had a nice breakfast, took our time and there were some lovely folks to chat to, we tend to find most folks are nice and it`s a pleasure to pass some time getting to know folks.

By 10.45 we were moving our cases down to the lobby, we had checked out and P said he would meet us over at Sapphire, we would be about 10 minutes.

Tom went for the car as it was still chucking it down, I waited and when he appeared we got the cases loaded and drove the couple of minutes round to Sapphire and into the parking garage which we prefer to the parking at RP.

Into the lobby and P was indeed waiting for us with C, we were leaving our cases with Bell Services and popping out for a few hours, they said when our suite was ready they`d have our luggage sent along to it and would send us a txt, but we were in no rush to be honest.

We thanked them for their kindness and time and we headed back to the car and the short drive to the Mall where we were meeting Michael another ex Loews employee.

The rain had gone off and the skies were sparklingly blue again, it was like a completely different day and back to what we do tend to expect in Orlando. The Mall doesn`t open till 11am so there weren`t many cars parked and we got close to the entrance which is rare unless you get lucky and someone pulls out as you`re there.

This is my favourite Mall around Orlando, it is never overly busy, it has plenty of stores we like and some nice restaurant choices too, however today we were venturing to the Food Court which we also like and our friend Michael is a huge fan of Charley`s Cheesesteaks, so that was going to be our lunch today.

It`s no secret I am not a small person, I could never even be remotely described as someone you could easily miss, so when one person almost walked into me in RP I dismissed it as her just not looking where she was going, anyone can be distracted.

But in the space of a few minutes two other people walked straight into me, one with their nose in their phone, one just obviously distracted......

One does begin to think, is it just me!!

Michael was waiting for us, he had just arrived and said he was starving so we went up and ordered straight away, I think I could have waited a little longer but if someone is hungry, fair enough, I could eat too.

I got the Teriyaki Chicken, Tom and Michael both got the Prime BBQ steak and we got a large Cajun Fries to share with strawberry lemonades, Michael had a coffee, once we got our food we found a table and it was very busy in the food court despite the parking lot being almost deserted.

i-V7TcxGd-X2.jpg

Two of us, I wonder who ::yes:: ordered extra jalapenos on our sandwiches, the mix of sweet and spicy is perfect for us!!!

We do like these Cajun Fries and especially like that they are freshly made and always sizzling hot.

i-T4jsFRp-X2.jpg

The time passed so quickly, we caught up on a lot of folks we knew between us which was nice, hearing how well everyone was getting on is always good news.

We got a txt from P to say our suite was ready anytime we wanted it and our luggage was already there waiting for us, I thanked him and said we`d be there mid afternoon, we were looking forward to moving to Sapphire.

Michael was heading off to get to work, he was in a different industry now and much happier as he doesn`t work main holidays now, we had a nice hug and said we`d catch up soon, usually by email or phone.

We had a quick wander to Bloomingdale`s as I needed a lipstick, then got in the car and headed back home once we parked we went in and C was there and we got our keys, they had very kindly left us Club Lounge keys in the suite, we were so appreciative for everything they do for us.

We love this suite!!!

The Sapphire Suite is perfect, it is large enough without being vast and still manages to feel cosy at night and best of all, we`re back to two bathrooms!!!

i-wQbDr9d-S.gif

There is a lovely spacious entrance where we tend to keep the suitcases once unpacked and this is where Tom`s bathroom is too....but he does actually like having that bathroom all to himself, the mirror is huge and he has space, which he does enjoy!

i-4nvDZKq-X2.jpg

i-cCngvN7-X2.jpg

This lounge area is bright, light and airy, having the double windows certainly adds to the spacious feeling in the room. The sofa is comfy and ideal for watching the odd movie if we decide to have a night in with room service, yes, we love this suite.

i-T8hZcxR-X2.jpg

i-Lfd3QGb-X2.jpg

We had some lovely treats await us too, it is always so kind of them to organise something to be waiting for us when we arrive or change hotels, again, very much appreciated.

We would sample this delight when we had unpacked!

i-nBZsF8z-X2.jpg

i-xM9GHdp-X2.jpg

It is very small but this perfectly formed little kitchen has everything we need for our stay. The fridge is big enough for some snacks and any white wine or prosecco we might buy and having the sink, tiny as it is, is just convenient for rinsing glasses.

i-bwH6cwS-X2.jpg

Our bedroom is pretty darn perfect too, it is cosy and definitely feels welcoming and the bed is extremely comfortable, we always sleep so well when we stay in both hotels, something that I know some people don`t like, but we sleep as good here as we do in our own bed at home.

i-NS7hN33-X2.jpg

i-GPsmZ5b-X2.jpg

I think the one thing that is lacking in this suite is closet space, this is the one and only hanging space, there are drawers and storage space under the tv, but we don`t want to fold dresses, tops and shirts. We manage but the King Suite in RP has two full closets which is so much better.

This suite however, wins with everything else.

i-vJXj86C-X2.jpg

The main bathroom is a decent size, I like the double sink which we have at home, but ours are further apart so we have more space, one of the reasons Tom likes his own bathroom here.

i-ZxBGWZz-X2.jpg

i-6ZZxSLF-X2.jpg

This bathroom has it all, a separate toilet cubicle, self contained shower and a bathtub with an over bath shower too, it`s certainly ideal for a family.

i-d7SdxJT-X2.jpg

So, we were here for the rest of our trip and we felt at home already, it didn`t take us long to get unpacked then we snacked on the meat and cheese plate and tried to decide where we were going to go eat tonight.

Club Lounge and dinner coming right up :-)

lol....I agree, Tom is always happy to get out and about same as me, but he does love his sleep! I think once you`re an early riser it never changes. When I was much younger I volunteered to do a permanent early shift at work. Started at 6 so of course I had to get showered, dressed and get to work so it was an early rise, but I loved it and could still have a social life which at that age was all important. I`m amazed looking back at how little sleep I needed lol....the joy of youth!!

Yes, a thank you and a nice tip is a nice gesture and I know how appreciated it is and yes, it can be hard work. I wouldn`t feel right not tipping.

You would like Toojays, it has a real nice feel about it, very family feeling and their coconut cake is a dream!!! Although I do think 4Rivers is better but the best one I`ve tried in Florida was at Yellow Dog Eats in Gotha, it was gorgeous!!

This guy was very odd. He seemed to enjoy asking the staff for things at the most awkward moment, he semed to enjoy getting attention but for all the wrong reasons. I could go on......:)

Annnnd now I really want to go see dueling pianos! Sounds like a fun time aside from the questionable food. Our family is still dreaming of the fresh table side guac from Antojitos but may need to add this one to our list as well.

lol.....you`d love it!!!

It was genuinely so much fun and everyone got into the spirit and I admit my throat was a little raw the next morning lol....

Just eat somewhere else before you go!!!

We`ve never eaten in Antojitos, too much cilantro for us, but we do keep meaning to give it a try for the tableside service, minus cilantro of course!! But glad to hear another vote for it though 😊
