I was there this past weekend and it seemed everywhere I went, someone was doing a survey.
We got off Mission Space and someone wanted us to be part of a survey. We entered MGM and someone was there to take another survey.

Whats going on??

There's a lot of that going on right now -- has been since before Christmas.

There's been a push by Disney to get guest comments and to analyze all of that info so that the parks can be made more efficient and more enjoyable. During Christmas, they were doing counts of people watching all of the storytellers and atmosphere groups, so that they can determine where additional entertainment is needed and where there might be too much. There were also additional studies to see how long people would wait for things and how quickly lines moved.

It's just normal business information gathering!

:earsboy:

On my recent trip, I was asked to do an Internet survey about planning for my Disney trip. I gave them my email address, the hotel I was at, etc., and about a week after I got home, I had a survey from Disney waiting. They asked how I bought my tickets, if i had used any guidebooks/websites, and also some questions about my hotel.

We noticed the same thing in August... and it seemed like these survey people were drawn to my DH, so for every attraction they had surveyors at, we got nailed. Most of the time we didn't mind, but the one at the end of Kilimanjo Safaris took at least 20 mins - lots of time wasted in such a hot and humid place. I preferred the ones that just asked for an email address so they could email the survey.

ah yes surveys. Just make sure you word the question the way you want the answer to be.

Ack, survey takers usually love me too, dh not so much, he is big and mean looking- i'll have to duck and run! lol

Here is another interesting fact. If you go to Monster.com and type in WDW, there are tons of jobs for data collection and processing the info. They must be really serious about figuring out what customers want/need.

We recieved at postcard inviting us to tell them our thoughts and do the survey on our stay at the bc. Normal survey stuff. If my voice can be heard through the survey all the better.

What's the "trick" to getting the surveyer to survey you? I love surveys at WDW, and whenever I go solo, if I see a surveyer, I stand near them and fiddle around with my backpack or something hoping they'll notice me. One time I even got so desperate I approached the surveyer and asked if they wanted to survey me. Alas, no! How can I look more "surveyable"?

dh was wearing a brand new (and I mean brand new) tigger base ball cap that had a curly bouncing tail that had tigger on the end, every where we went people commented on how cute it was, and cm's were always saying how they'd never seen it before and asking where had it purchased it. We bought it our 1st night at the world of disney. By the end of the week we were finally seeing it for sale in a few pooh oriented stores, but only saw it on 1 other person the entire week...anyway, the surveyors were drawn to that hat! They'd walk up and say, love your hat, or cute hat, or great hat, etc, will you do a survey? Then they'd notice my glittery mickey ears head band and say oh, great ears by the way. (I got the oh by the way all week, so it was only fitting, lol)....so to answer your question, "how do I make myself more surveyable?" Get yourself a hat that really, really stands out from the crowd :bounce:
We had all different kinds of surveys, the email once you are home, the how's your hotel survey, the what kind of tickets did you buy and where did you buy them survey, what do you think of the conditions of x park survey (we had that in ak, mgm and mk...all while waiting for a parade to start), and the general demographics survey.

I really hope Disney has some of its research people reading these boards! They would learn a lot about their patrons' likes/dislikes, what works and doesn't work, etc.! :)

HappyMommy....just keep in mind that, on these boards, 30 comments on the same topic comes across as a landslide....in reality it equates to, maybe, the number of people entering a park during a one minute period so it could hardly be considered a groundswell.....on the other hand, they do cruise internet sites for opinions so there could be some value to posting your thoughts...JMHO:smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

Actually they were all over on our last trip 1/02 - every park we went to we were grabbed every day to take a 5 min survery - where they asked us about 30 questions

I wouldn't mind doing a survey from home. However, as much as I pay for my Disney vacations, and considering how fast the vacation goes by, I don't think I'd be willing to spend even 5 minutes doing a survey.

I was stopped at Epcot, between WS and FW. I hope they send me something (a discount would be nice!)

I noticed after Sep 11 there have been alot more surveys going on. One thing Disney found out that alot more DVCers were there than they thought. I have noticed a few more discounts for luinch meals now. I think because of the slow recovery of travel, they are trying to find out what they need to provide and what they can cut back on.

Take it as a positive. Disney is obsessed with knowing in detail what their customers want. If we tell them what we want it certainly can't hurt. If you don't want to participate a simple "no thank you" will suffice.

On the way out of Animal Kingdom the other day a cast member asked me if Disney could email me a survey. I agreed, they took my email and emailed it to me. Since I am still here, I haven't taken the survey yet.

We have noticed the increase in survey takers since last September. I am glad to see that Disney is interested.

I was asked to participate in a survey on our honeymoon, and I was happy to help. I enjoy having my voice heard, and I am glad that Disney is interested in guest opinions.
