It seems like the rooms they are offering on these packages are at rack rate for the season you are travelling....I am still hoping that a code will come out to extend after the current April 16th expiration one...

If a package is booked and a code comes out later isn't it more difficult to cancel a package than a room only ressie...maybe everyone should wait a few weeks before booking a package and see if more codes come out ( I would expect sometime is January if there is to be any for the Spring)

what do you think?

I'm with you. I am not jumping on paying rack rate for a room so I can dine for 35.00. You are still paying waaay too much for the room. So really not saving much if anything. I will wait for a room only discount for my summer trip. Historically the codes haven't been released until March or April, so I am just waiting. My TA has my room reserved for me, so when the codes are released she will make the changes for me. I don't have to do anything but sit back and wait for the email.

Here is my thinking. Codes are not always a given. Just because it the past they have released codes doesn't mean that they will continue to year after year for the same time. The only discount that is usually a given is AAA rates and you usually know that they are out a couple of months prior to the new year.

I have to agree with MagicKingdom05. Codes with lots of rooms have been plentiful the last couple of years but it wasn't always that way. Disney increased the discounts to fill rooms. The travel industry has recovered from the post 9/11 slump and the US dollar being down against foreign currencies makes it even more attractive to go to the US.

Both factors mean that Disney doesn't have to work as had to fill rooms. It also means that there will be more first time travelers to Disney who are much more likely to pay rack rate.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Disney severly limit discounts for at least six months to see the impact of the MYW tickets. We know they are still doing AP and AAA discounts. They may feel that is enough.

Even the annual pass discounts are minimal. I just priced the ASMu value season and the rate was$77.69 plus tax =87.01 per night, annual pass rate. It used to be $50 + tax.

I just booked an AP room for January and got it for $49 plus tax. Sure you were booking a value season room for that $77?

I'm jumping on the AAA package rate now because you also get $25 Disney Dollars and the AAA parking pass (the lot is the closest to the gate) if you book before Jan 31.
