I read posts about what to do while in HH so I thought I would let other members know about this upcoming event in the area. ON Feb.28-March 2 there will be a Living History Day and Re-enactment at my husband and his family's plantation which they have owned for nine generations. Living History on Friday and the Battle for Broxton Bridge on Saturday and Sunday. The Broxton Bridge embankment and breastworks have remained as they were through the years. This was one of the last big attempts along with Rivers and Buford's Bridge to stop Sherman's men they reached Columbia. Proceeds raised will benefit a museum to be built on the place. This event is sponsored by Salt Ketchers Chapter #6 Order if Confederate Rose, a non-profit organization.
The place is about one hour and fifteen minutes from Hilton Head. Directions can be found on the main web site of the Bed and Breakfast and Hunting Preserve. www.broxtonbridge.com
Email if I can help at rebeccavarn@msn.com or call the Toll-Free number at 800-437-Hunt. If you are visiting at another time, tours can be arranged in advance.
