Every time we go we try to do something different and special. We always do at least 5 of the big 7 Orlando themeparks, this is something additional.

So far we have:

Swam with dolphins at DC
Hot air balloon
Dinner at the V&A
Had our fortunes told at Cassadega
Air boat ride
Driven out to the gulf coast to stay a night at Seaside (Truman show was shot there)
Stayed at all 3 Universal hotels for a night to make use of their front of line pass

Any suggestions???

First suggestion would be tricky as we never made them in the first place!

Second one has possibilities...

An Illuminations cruise is always a good special treat, particularly if you don't visit the parks everyday, it's a way of getting a great view of Illuminations, without having to use a themepark ticket for Epcot.

If you like getting out to see the local wildlife we took a trip around the Disney Wilderness preserve that is out in Poinciana. It's about 20-25 miles south of WDW and takes about 30-40 minutes in the car. We went out for their tour on a "swamp buggy" ( bit like a bus sized quadbike ) we were out for about 2 hours. There are also walking trails. We saw deer, aligators, a coyote and LOADS of birds. We also saw tracks of bobcats, foxes, feral pigs, tortoises and armadillo. http://nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/florida/preserves/art5523.html

If you like art the Dali gallery at St Pete's is definately worth a trip, you could make a full day(or even two) by visiting the sunken gardens in St Pete's as well. Here's some information on both http://www.stpetersburg.com/attractions/index.shtml

An unusual day out would be the Historic Bok Sanctuary in Lake Wales ( about an hour's drive from WDW) http://www.boktower.org/ . I thought this looked a really cool place to visit sometime.

If you fly into/out of Miami or wanted a short trip down there the South Beach is full of history and the Art Deco buildings are just everywhere. There are some great boutique hotels to stay in as well. While in Miami you could visit the Vizcaya museum and gardens http://www.vizcayamuseum.org/ or spend a day at the Venitian Pools in Coral Gables just south of Miami http://www.venetianpool.com/ . Definately a different type of waterpark LOL

P.S. for anyone interested in the historical homes, gardens and building I got a great book recently that lists quite a few of them. Anyone who wants to see more examples like the last few I've put up I have information on similar things dotted alll over Florida.

Get married then, having said that, holding up a gas station carries the lesser sentence.

Hold up a gas station, you might get time off for good behaviour :rotfl:

Notice to self, duck down to avoid bricks and flames that are incoming LOL

Thanks guys for the helpful (and not so helpful) replies.

Think we'll try the Disney Wilderness Preserve and i read something about the MK tours. Thinking about the keys to the Kingdom tour.

Hi Cheryl, hope you dont mind me asking but were of to florida in may and are contemplating doing a ballon ride so would appreciate any advice and opinion on them.
We will have our 2 girls 8 & 9 with us and if we go with orange blossom they can go for free, which ovbiously helps with the pennies.
Look forward to hearing from you

When we went up in the balloon it was with orange blossom and I can't fault them. It was amazing

You have to get up really early though so perhaps try it in the first couple of days.

We took our friends' kids with us, 15 and 12. The older one was scared. The younger one wasn't so much scared as asleep (standing upright in a balloon with her eyes open.) She'd just about woken up when we landed. Told you it was early. My advice, make sure you get a kid each and give them a cuddle to reasure them (or keep them standing!) :confused3

There was a mother and her son in the basket with us. I guess he was around 8 and he LOVED it. He kept asking questions and taking pictures.

Hope that helps.

Renew wedding vows???

Hold up a Gas station? :) :) :)

Run over the gators heads in Gatorland just like James Bond.

Maybe not the gators but my partner says he's up for a helicopter ride and something to do with fake skydiving?? :confused3
