Many members ask about things to do near Hilton Head so I wanted to post this info. There will be a Civil War Reenactment on March 8-10 at my husband and his family's plantation. It is about one hour and ten minutes from the Outlet Shops at Bluffton and another 20 minutes to the Island depending on traffic. We have people coming up from Hilton Head a lot. The event is sponsored by Salt Ketchers Chapter # 6, Order of the Confederate Rose, a nonprofit group, and is hosted by the 32nd Georgia Artillery. On the southern end of the plantation is an old battleground, complete with all the breastworks, leftover from the South's defenses on February 1, 1865. The gates open at 9 each day, and on Friday there will be a living history day for children. The battles will be held Saturday at 3 and Sunday at 2. There will be a drawing for prizes after the battle on Sunday. One day admission is free for children under 9, $3 for 10-17, and over 18 is $5. You can go to www.broxtonbridge.com for more about the plantation, call 800-437-hunt, or email me.
