So we have decided not to do a lot of lining up for autographs this trip but we have some character meals booked and I am sure we will see someone we want autographs from at some point. Any good ideas for things to get autographs on other than in a book because the kids already have books full from past trips.

i can't decide whether i want to do autograph books or not, either.

i'll have them just in case we meet someone new, but i'm thinking this year... just photos. then i'll have a photo album printed up.

We have done pillowcases at the character meals! Very easy for them to write with fabric markers and they can lean on the table. DD actually brought it to show and tell at camp this summer!

If I were to do Chef Mickey's again I would get a plain white apron from Michaels/AC Moore.

We are going to Cape May Cafe, I trying to find a plain white beach bag to have them sign.

I read a suggestion a while back that I'd like to try next time - a pillowcase, with fabric markers to sign with. You'd have to hold the fabric for the character, but I think it's a neat idea - also a folded up pillowcase wouldn't take up much room.

I am going back and forth between a pillowcase or a photo mat. I will be doing it for a 21 year old and a 19 month old though so I think I am leaning toward photo mat and then putting a collage of pics into the frame.

Here's the bag I made for signatures. We only did the Character Meet and Greet at the front of Epcot.

On the cruise, we had them sign a photo mat with a 2 picture space. We then put our son's pictures with meeting the characters in those spots. He absolutely loves it.

I like the idea of a photo mat, but how big a mat would you get? I'd worry about keeping it flat, since you'd need a pretty big one for plenty of signatures.

We got the boys plain hats and sharpies and had the characters sign those on one trip to WDW. Now the hats are tucked away on the shelf in their closets and they pull them out to talk about them every so often.

We leave for our first cruise on Wednesday and I made quilt blocks...they are 16" X 16" with the Disney Cruise Line Logo on them. I am bringing fabric pens with me and when I get home I plan on using those blocks as the center piece of Disney Themed quilts for the kids. They are pretty excited about it too. Hopefully it turns out OK.

The photo mat is a great idea. We did that for our wedding instead of a guest book and it turned out great.

The one we used was 11 x 14 with 2 cut outs for 4 x 6 photos. It came with the frame at Joann's for $5.00. We packed the mat flat in the suitcase. We actually handed it to the consierge on the cruise, but if I knew I was going to the park to collect signatures I would put in between to pieces of cardboard and carry it in a backpack to keep it from getting crushed. Bring a few different colored sharpies and there you go.

The quilt sounds awesome. I've seen a "do it yourself" quilt in the Oriental Trading catalogue....I will have to grab one. I remember my niece got a pluto doll and had all the characters sign that....she slept with that until she was a teenager, and now she keeps it on a shelf.

I am hoping it turns out the way I am imaging it. LOL At least the first block looks alright. Got som emore designing to do once we get home...oh and I will have to take some before and after pics when I get some free time.

The Pluto sounds cute. DD sleeps with her teddy every night but not sure how she would feel about getting another animal and having it signed but I will have to keep it in mind for our next trip to WDW.

We did pillowcases last year and are going to do them again this year. We use an embordery (spelling?) hoop to make it easy for the characters to sign. We jused used a sharpie and it worked very well.

I bought a few T-Shirts for my niece to have signed at the character meals. I also bought some Sharpie Clickable Markers. The characters liked picking out the color to sign with. I also brought the hoop to keep the T-shirt pulled tight.

if you scrapbook you can get a small pad of different colored scrapbook pages at your local walmart that is about the size of an autograph book. i had the characters sign it so now i can cut the signatures out and place them on the page with the photos of each character. i have autograph books from when i was younger in my attic just collecting dust but everyone always wants to look at scrapbooks. it is also a fun activity that you can do with the children when you get back to keep the memories alive.

Wow! So many great ideas. I think I am oing in search of some tote bags for my daughters to get signed!

I really like the apron idea. I, too, am not that excited about autograph books. I throw too much stuff away on a daily basis. I plan on bringing one of my DD5 Princess shirts for the Princesses to sign and then bring the aprons along to Chef Mickeys for my DS3 and DD5. Then, lots of pictures!! Thanks for all the good ideas. Somewhere else on the dis-boards, someone recommended bringing a stitching hoop in order to pull material tight when the characters sign. Good idea, I thought.

I never understood the allure of the autograph book..it would get shoved in the back of a closet never to be seen again.

But I was considering getting a t shirt and having the characters sign that..I think I will bring it along- and it would help make that souvie t shirt even more special.
Would a regular sharpie be okay? I hope it wouldnt bleed thru to the back.
