Quick stop since I don't know if I'll make it back on tomorrow morning.

Do you all realize she left us hangin' with 1,999 posts? :headache:

Damo- :goodvibes
and everyone else:goodvibes
you got until 9 pm Eastern Time Zone Friday night to post a change for your driver for the season -
the season runs feb to mid november.

races are sunday's with a few sat nights thrown in, we can post official results next days. drivers get points for various things like leading laps and so on, any we can see each week how each picked driver does.:surfweb:

so, if you wanna change, do so now. Yes, you can have the same as someone else.

absolutely NOT!!! Didja see my boy was sittin' POLE??? :cool1: what a pick! :rolleyes1

DF gave me my V-day gift this morning.

I  it!!!!

DSCF0157.jpg

Katie...it's very beautiful....does it mean good luck like Janet said, or do you have a "thing" for turtles? ....or does the turtle have a significant meaning?

Good morning, It's FRIDAY!

Morning Fletch!

Shhhh - barb is sleeping in - no work/school today and feeling:sick:
:) Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer....luckily, I did not hear him....was snoozin' away......:cloud9:

I think the red, white and blue is always supposed to be on top. . .then #3, then #88. . . and, yeah, your neighbor needs a new flag is he's flying a red #8. . . :sad1: it is no more:sad1:

American flag ALWAYS goes on the top...and I believe nothing to the left of it either.....

I engineer. I've got 20 years in here and have managed to take some duties that no one else wants to do so I have job security (I hope).

Good thinking takin' on some responsibilities nobody else wants.....doesn't hurt your case  Only thing people who have to worry about stuff like that (with seniority) are getting fired in lieu of younger peeps who will work cheaper :sad2:

I think we need to try this.

WAKE UP!!!

Everyone must still be sleeping.

d'jall take the day off:confused3

No UNFORTUNATELY.....had to work :sad2:

dh got his blood drained;) and was rewarded with lunch @ applebees, i had fish -not setting well; usually really like their food

tomorrow he wanted to go & try secure a table down @ Station Square area for romantic dinner - it's always busy & several hours wait for tables isn't uncommon; despite a plethora of restaurants to pick from - don't take ressies though. The thought of waiting outdoors in the cool isn't appealing. I hate the trend of restaurants only doing walkups in our area.

local place we visit for "special" occasions (that does take ressies) has a "special valentines day menu" all this week - effectively, doubling their prices:rolleyes1 .

Guess we'll go early & hope for the best @ Red Lobster tomorrow.

sooo, what's up for everyone else this weekend beside watching the race & looking for tricia (we should've told her to wear lime green:idea: or a funny hat so we could pick her out in the crowd).

Glad to hear things went well for DH...I hope you are able to get into your restaurant tomorrow :wizard: If not, remember...it's all about being 'together'

Hey all....signing off for tonight....have to work in the morning and have NO idea how I made it thru today :sad2:

Feeling  and i am in bed....just gonna lay my head and close my eyes.....till the alarm goes off at 7am :headache:

Updates: Bubba is 100%....DH is almost, but maybe 80%.....I feel 30% :sad1: So, went around the boys...now Mom's turn :sad2: .

Have an enjoyable nite and Saturday....i know i said this yesterday, but hopefully tomorrow a better day  for me.....

Hey Homies!!!!
Did yawl miss me? I've not been around for a while.....and I will NEVER "ketchup"!!!
MAC, did anyone talk about me while I was gone?
Barb, I did see that you are working at a tanning salon now, is that right? I hope it's much better than the HH!!! I started tanning last month (preparing for my trip waaaaaay ahead....gotta have that savage tan ya know!)
Lori, how are you doing neighbor?
Jodie, it's been a while, but I read all of your posts from about a week ago, (the ones where you were the only one online)....I loved it all! Thanks for the compliment about my family!
Zack's birthday was yesterday...14 :scared1: He's not even wanting to get his learners permit to drive yet and I am so relieved!!! The roads are not ready for him!!!
Katie, I love the necklace! Did you ever decide what's going on your brother's head? I still like the Spongebob Krusty Krab theme!
MotherFletcher and Wendy, I hope your diets are going well!
I'm in a contest at work now...I know I won't win, but it's good to have some competition to encourage me! I've not done well at all this week though!
Damo, I see you've got a new picture on your avatar...is that a new puppy? He/she's a cutie!

Hey Marcie, Tracie, Tricia, Sharon, Penney, Janet, Rosemarie, Jennifer, Mike, Todd, Lawrence, Gema! I hope I haven't forgotten anyone

First of all a great big THANKS
to you all for keeping things quiet here for me today.

I hadn't mentioned it but Ally came home complaining about her throat Wednesday afternoon, slept most of the day yesterday but really wanted to go to her Valentines party so I took her for it, went to the doct or today to confirm my diagnosis of strep throat. I swear this child has been sick with one thing after another since the beginning of December! :scared1: So I have been babying my child today.

Of course this my weekend to nwork for my sister and we have nasty weather suposedly moving in over night. I loaded Ally & myself up at 4:00, stopped to pick up great nieces birthday present & the granddaughter and went ahead and drove the hour out here.

I am going to try to pop in every once in a while so I don't get terrbily behind. You guys try to keep it down to a dull roar this weekend. K? :thumbsup2

Don't shoot the messenger. . . . . but, it is not likely your guy is going to do very well at all. Not that that's a bad thing. . .some of the other picks probably won't do great either.

You are right about the new guy. It is tough to break in and do great your first year. He is the one that couold have raced last year at the end but felt it was best not to wasn't he? If I recall he new it wouldn't be good to risk wrecking the chase guys. Gotta respect him for that.

On the other hand I know my #1 guy, as well as my 2 # 2's will be right up there at the top!!! It is going to be a great year for Hendrick Motor Sports!!!

Hey all....signing off for tonight....have to work in the morning and have NO idea how I made it thru today :sad2:

Glad Bubba and Dad aare feeling better. Sorry they passed it on to you. Fell better.

Well, I'm gonna run. Catch you guys tomorrow!

Hi Allison! I've been asking about you. Glad you are here. Happy birthday to the ds.

I'm doing well. How about you?

I'm doing great! You know, it's hard to find time to read and post when DH is home, I have to spend time with him when he's here...He's working tonight, so I don't feel so bad about being on the board. I need to browse around and look for stuff to help me with my vacation! I think we'll be there before you and your gang make it there, but we are supposed to meet up with the "Bubba" gang on their first day there (prior to their cruise). It would be so cool if we were all going to be there at the same time!
Kids are on XBox Live right now and right now they are happy...I just bought them 1000 Microsoft points and they are buying some new maps for Halo 3...

Hey Barb, I hope you feel better real soon! I hope it's not the flu! I read that even people who got the flu shot this year were getting the flu.
Oh, I was going to mention to you that DH and I have been looking for our own tanning bed. We looked on eBay and there are soooooooo many in your area and a lot of them are cheap!!! There just aren't many around us and they tend to be expensive! We really want a stand-up unit because they tan you more evenly and DH hates laying down in one.....I'm doing the lay-down type (because it's cheaper at the place where we tan). I don't think we are going to find one for what I'm willing to pay, so we will probably just have to keep going to the salon....

Quick flyby to say hi before I go hop into bed so we can get up early tomorrow and head out skiing. Just a day trip - were considering going tomorrow and Sunday, but now they're predicting 6-10 inches of snow Sunday, plus Eric has a piano recital and Matt has GF plans so we're stuck with a day! Anyways, some quick ketchuping before I hit the sack!

Zack's birthday was yesterday...14 :scared1: He's not even wanting to get his learners permit to drive yet and I am so relieved!!! The roads are not ready for him!!!

How old do they have to be to get their permit by you? Matt was SOOO mad when we moved from MI to Wisconsin when he was almost 14 1/2. There it was 14 years and 9 months to get the permit, here it's 15 1/2. He had to wait a WHOLE extra 9 months - "that's long enough to have a baby, Mom" to get it. Of course now I have to force him to drive while he whines about how much he hates driving. He's driving much of the way to and from the ski place tomorrow, because now it's only 3 weeks until he takes his road test.

Incidentally - I grew up saying "permit" or "learner's permit". Here no one says those - they call them "temps". Never heard that before!

Hey Barb, I hope you feel better real soon! I hope it's not the flu! I read that even people who got the flu shot this year were getting the flu.

I heard this too - that there's a pretty nasty strain of flu going around where everyone who gets it thinks they just have a cold but it kind of gets worse and worse and that the flu shot didn't help prevent it.

Janet - I'm confused - is the place you're considering trying with the hour waits Red Lobster? :confused3 Or are you not even going to try at the "romantic" place? Is Station Square a location or a restaurant? Hope it works out for you and you get to go somewhere classy!

And I would have lent Tricia some of my lime green!

so sorry to hear about the continued illin' going around here, sux big time

allison - i do like the term - the bubba gang:lmao:did Zach have a special day? my baby's 14 too (going on 15)...have him practice driving on video gamespopcorn::

marci - have fun sking (more snow is a good thing;) in that case?). No. station square is sort of a romantic/touristy area (if pittsburgh would have such a thing, incline goes up to mt washington, etc. Lion King is in town & downtown (or as we say dawntawn:rotfl: ) will be a zoo. Gold old Red Lobster will have a wait too, least it'll be indoors & out in the 'burbs.

trying to remember what age they raised driver's license jr permit to in PA:confused: ; my kiddos had their permits until they were old enough to buy themselves a car & pay for their own insurance (told you i was the world's meanest mom:rolleyes1 ). Both managed to obtain their goal by 19...imo they tend to take better care of said wheels since it's their $s. Nice thing about my insurance co (Erie) is rates don't go up a penny until they get a "real" license...another reason they drove on a permit forever.

i've spent the evening trolling for discounts in vegas - baby...found a goodie:banana: ; cheaper than the Excalibur even...The Luxor:woohoo: . Was on DHs wish list, heretofore outta our league; nice when the hubby thinks you're smrt lol.

sleep tight guys!

Okay - just had to add this story. I've been waiting for Stephen to get home from his birthday party. He told me a couple days ago that he was going to a birthday party (bowling) with a girl from his class that I didn't know. He said not to worry about rides because they'd be picking everyone up. I assumed a couple parents would be driving a few of the kids together.

We weren't here when he left because we were at Matt's soccer game. I'm sitting here and suddenly I see weird flashing lights outside our house. We live on a court and don't get a lot of traffic, so I look outside. There's a school bus, with lights flashing, in front of our house! Evidently one of the birthday girl's parents is a bus driver and "borrowed" the bus to bring a busload of friends bowling! :rotfl:

I guess that's one way of doing it!

My folks stayed at the Luxor and loved it! Sounds great!

Our insurance also doesn't raise rates until they get their actual license, but I want him to have a license and a car to do much of the shuttling. Now when next DS is ready to get his in a year, I'll be leaning a whole lot more towards just staying with the permit!

Marcie, that is soooooo funny about the bus! I know that was completely unexpected!
Here in Arkansas, kids can get a permit at 14 (as long as they have a 2.0 GPA or better) and they take the driving test within 6 months of getting the permit or when they feel they are ready (whichever comes first). When they pass the driving test, they get a "restricted" license, which means they have to have a licensed adult driver (21 or over) with them while they are driving until they turn 16, and then the restriction is lifted. Insurance is the same here as it is for you, it doesn't increase until the child actually gets his license.

So you like the term "the bubba gang"?
We actually went ahead and celebrated Zack's birthday on Sunday night, since his b-day was during the week. We had pizza and cake and got him a cool new camera and I really think he likes it! He likes driving games...and he's pretty good at them! I really think he will be a pretty good driver.

Marcie - We call them "learner's permits" here in WV. Also, when I was young, the age was 16. Now it is 15. You can get permit at 15, but can't get license until 16. Anyways, Jr. is only 13 - so we have at least 2 years before we need to worry about that.

:)

illinois law changed last month.
we have the restricted dr. license now
it changes in steps until age 21.
