With this Nascar thing, I don't follow it, but I'll take the guy named Biffle, cause his name sounds like he could have been a character on Gumby :lmao:

I'm sitting here eating Nestle Toll House chocolate chips for lunch.

Is that a bad thing? :confused3

You go girl!!!! :cool1: (not necessarily a 'bad' thing, unless you are worried about your diet or workout ;) )

From lori:

My hubby is also federal employee. He delights in telling me how much time he has.
(As it is during tax season, I will be working) I suggested he, Jr. and Gramps go to Florida (to vist his brother) for the week. His response - "what do I want to do that for?":confused3

Here, you're gonna need this more than I:

UGH! MEN! DH had use or loose too. He took off the entire week of Thanksgiving & Christmas. Oh well, he will be the one missing out on our vacation. We will probably have a better time without him there anyway!

For Janet:

sado.gif

:lmao: love it!!!

I found the floor in Joshua's room. Hey, it has carpet! It was profitable. I earned 57 cents in loose change.

 Well...there ya go...money for penny gum! :rotfl2: Hey, if he's gonna miss his piggy bank THAT often, start throwing bills at the boy! That way, when he misses, you'll have more than "cents" :rolleyes1

just a carryover from MIL #1 who'd give my house the white glove treatment & if it didn't meet her high standards; she'd clean & re-arrange the furniture (ps wait till kids get older, you'll be shocked @ what u find hidden in their rooms:rolleyes: )

i think the woman needs some serious help :scared:

....somebody who worked for a branch of the government. Odd thing, they didn't pay into Social Security; but the Railroad Retirement fund?:confused3 All i know is she was able to retire in 25 years with full benefits. Took a job working in private sector & will double dip on the retirements...lucky duck.

Don't get me started....our social security system is SO messed up! :headache: I used to work with a retired postmaster at HH job....she still worked fulltime at HH AND was able to collect from pension......made sure she worked the right amount of hours to NOT make too much money..... :sad2:

anybody besides tricia have any big valentines day plans? we'll go out to eat on Saturday (by ourselves i hope, foisting fund-raising spaghetti dinner on ma - who is hale & hearty today:thumbsup2 - and DSs)...think i have a gift card or two somewhere:goodvibes believe a:yay: bottle of asti is still in the fridge too

I'm sure you'll get your smooch ;) Our big plan is Applebee's to Go on my way home (pickin' it up)...other than that, karate at 5:45 and that's about it. I do feel "up to par" ;) and with DH home the past 2 days, I'm guessing he won't feel up to it either..... but, gotta EAT, right??

OK, I just saw that someone picked the guy with the funny name, I'll have to contemplate this big decision and get back to you???? :confused3

tricia - north rim was booked solid:confused3 (was closer to vegas & zion appears in the neck of the woods) so i went with the south rim.

mac - omg, he hiked it:scared1: believe i read it was easily 42 miles!! Talk about a go-getter

we are going to try just the 1st section of the Bright Angel trail-since we'll be staying in front of the entrance approx 1-1/2 miles down & into caves? maybe he'll remember it if you get a chance to ask him. I was shocked to find out that it's never more than mid 80's on top of canyon, good 20-30 degrees hotter on the bottom in the summer.

mr mac said talk to the rangers when you get there and they will guide you for the best trail. i think it is only about 30 miles to hike on the bottom of the canyon.

bright angel trail is good. a lot of them are good.
ask at the hotel you are staying for their opinions besides the rangers.
the north rim is more rustic, south rim is where you find the resturants, gift shops, etc.

he said he can get his maps out to answer questions if you need more info.

when are you going? the north rim is not open until spring. it always closes during the winter time.

mr mac is a jock.
he rides across america, walks across the canyon and goes up to upper wisconsin to ski. he does it all. it is either, race walking, biking, kayaking, running, skiing, snow shoeing, etc........depends on the weather of the day.

tomorrow is the big candy- sex and flowers and more sex day. congrats to any threaders getting any of the afor- mentioned.

if you aint getting any of the above, welcome to the rest of the world.

...

OMG I will be happy to just get a CARD !! I really could use the Candy though :thumbsup2 .

I am wondering anyone here eat at Burger King ?? We usually don't but the next few weeks are going to have Monster Jam Toys in the kiddie meals so I think I am going to have to make a trip or two to get them for my DS . What we do for our kids it must be LOVE  .

NIGHT NIGHT everyone .. Sweet Dreams :cloud9:[/QUOTE]

put me on the list for that club.
the ones that vday is just another day list.....

what do you need from burger king? which monster toys do you need?
i hit that place 3 times a week for one son. not for the toys but for the food

Anyone else here part of the "getting nothing" for Valentine's Day? Not that he isn't getting me a gift, but I won't see him til the weekend.

Anyone else have exciting plans??

my plans tomorrow are to work and the do curves and then do dinner and then play with the cats.

your plans are probably more exciting than mine.

we have now gained 1 hour and 33 minutes of daylight :goodvibes

we change clocks in 24 days . THAT MEANS WE GAIN AN EXTRA 60 MINUTES OF DAYLIGHT.:thumbsup2
Not too shabby.

we had a lot of snow fall last night , followed by pouring rain all day. i have freakin' had it. snowblowing before coffee is not a good thing. :surfweb:

leap year day in two weeks. happy birthday to those folks born on that day, who technically get a birth day every four years.

tomorrow is the big candy- sex and flowers and more sex day. congrats to any threaders getting any of the afor- mentioned.

if you aint getting any of the above, welcome to the rest of the world.

include me in that world........

If you start the thread on exs and ex in laws, let me know. I've got some stories.

I know I'll have fun, just as long as I get to go. Once we are on the drive down... maybe after we cross the state line... then I'll start to relax... :rolleyes1

I found the floor in Daniel's room. I vacuumed. Under the bed there were some little brown balls. I'm hoping they were candy of some variety. If not, I don't want to know. :scared1:

probably candy left over from last Easter you found.
they usually are brown and fuzzy at this time of the year.

Your DH is lucky to have time acrue. DH has to take it or lose it. He prefers to use his sick days for taking care of errands, or something around the house....or anything else...BUT being sick :sad2:

mr mac gets 21 days a year for vacation but never can use it all.
when he is not at work, his job is not done.

usually he has to kiss off some vacation days each year.
and he rants about it to me as if i had anything to do with it......

It's crazy, but I'm helping out at the chiro office tomorrow for 4hrs.

that's great you have some work tomorrow darkie!
money is money

With this Nascar thing, I don't follow it, but I'll take the guy named Biffle, cause his name sounds like he could have been a character on Gumby :lmao:

my parents don't collect ss but rail road retirement instead.
it is separate than the ss system and pays at a higher benefit.

can only apply and recieve the RR pension if you worked on the RR and paid into it.

once they retired, they retired. no part time jobs for them

hey homies, i'm herreeeeeeeeee.

miss me much?

another long day.
either they are long or too short.

 You are always missed....do you really need to ask? :confused3

did i ever tell you the time my first mil came to visit and i had her sit on the couch at my brothers house.
he had a remote control for the tv.

he would change the channels as she was watching tv.
she was completely awed over it........she got up to look behind the tv console to see what was there.
she would move to where she was sitting to another chair/seat in the living room. brother would flip the channels again.

she freaked. she called it the magic box. she only knew limited amount of english.

my brother told her and then i told her/translated that the remote was magic and if you thought of a show, you clicked the button on the remote and it would change without having to walk over to the tv.
she never heard of that before.

and she believed me.

of course, my brother was po'ed when he found out she stole his tv remote when we left. she wanted to take it home with her as she said no one would believe her. they would have to see for themselves.

guess its best to leave some of those funny stories in the past..............

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: that's a great story!

If you start the thread on exs and ex in laws, let me know. I've got some stories.

I don't have any "ex-in-law" stories :confused3 ...i wanna be in the 'club'... :sad1:

 spring is comin'! spring is comin'! I'll take the extra daylight....don't care about losing an hour of sleep ONE night (sorry Lori)....extra daylight is MANY days....

We had that snow, then ice, then rain this morning....thought Tracie, Mike & I were gonna haveta borrow Lori's boat  We got just over 2.50" of rain :sad2: (happy to live on a mountain) ...and yes, tomorrow is gonna be 'just another day' ....for the most part :rolleyes1

How could eating chocolate ever be a bad thing. . . . Please have some for me, would you??

Barb, insert smiley with chocolate around it's mouth. . . .

No can find....but can find how eatin' chocolate makes ya feel....

Penny - did you see on the news tonight that 72,000 homes in Maine are without power this evening?

 Too cold to NOT have power!!! Glad our homies are snug! (that would a heckuva lot of snow to send the search party out in!)

I know hubby plans on watching the WVU bball game at 7pm. I had wanted to get away Saturday/Sunday, but too many things got in the way.

Hope none of you fell asleep reading the Boring Valentines Saga of the Jaws household.

Nah...you're not boring....I love to read about other people's goings on....takes my mind off my "own world" :thumbsup2 I truly hope you can find some romance on Valentine's Day...after all....it IS about LOVE :goodvibes

Ok Lori I am going to do the photos for you on Thursday. I will be home from work and I am going to start to really pull the room apart so before I do so I will take the photos . May I remind you you asked for it .

My day in grade three was OK but why are there kids in 3rd grade that can't tie their own shoes ??? I mean 1st grade ok ,2nd grade you are learning but by grade 3 can we teach our kids to tie shoes or WHAT !!! .....Rant over

I don't know...but parents are lazy...figure they can DO it faster than they can TEACH it! Bubba was good to go in 2nd grade.....too bad you didn't have him in class

I am so wiped out this week , our my poor DD had a bowling match on Monday that went on forever . They bowled one game and lost. Then bowled another and WON :cheer2: . Then they played a third game to determine a winner and well it was a TIE. So now they bowled a fourth game and well they lost. She was so tired but her name was mentioned as a Key Bowler for the team. We are so proud of her .

That is a LOT of bowling for a young gal....I can see she'd be tired. But, they gave it their all and that's all you can ask...do your best. She bowl often?

Uh...actually we live right in the middle of about every single fast food, bank chain and convenience store/gas station you can think of! I can count on one hand how often we eat fastfood.... I guess moving here was a 'good' thing..... Good luck with your collection....

Anyone else here part of the "getting nothing" for Valentine's Day? Not that he isn't getting me a gift, but I won't see him til the weekend.

Anyone else have exciting plans??

Getting a card and something else that cost about $5 :confused3 Rule in our house: NO flowers on Valentine's Day...any other day is fine, candy is fine....anything is fine....but, with just having Xmas and DH's (& Bubba's) birthdays, Valentines Day is light around here :rolleyes1

I will be out of town working with my sister.

You're a great sister....hopefully you'll drop in this weekend..... tell your sister, if she's anything like you (and we like you), we'll share you with her! :rolleyes1

brab, you can count your sister in the ex club.
or you can say you are my sister and then my ex would have been your ex bil and my ex mil and all them people would be your ex also.

how kewl, you are a club member after all.......

Barb, myself, my son and his girlfriend go down to Portofino on Tuesday. We check on Friday morning and head over to the AKL for Pirates and Princess party and will be joined by my daughter who will be flying down that day. My son and girlfriend will head back home on the Saturday and my daughter and I will head back to the Royal Pacific until Tuesday. She and I will then come home. I'll get all my tutoring done on Wednesday, babysit my twins on Thursday and Friday and then Friday night head down to SC for two weeks since I didn't get to go last time.

So the next month should be fun. I need to get some accessories in my new house since it is looking pretty sad with just a couch and a dining room table.

Yankeepenny, we changed our clocks again in 22 days? Wow.

Still waiting for news on Ginger.

You mean to tell me, he doesn't take ALL his vacay time?? How do you LET that happen? :sad2:

i know it suxs big time. he is given benefit time but can't always use it.
he handles the compliance stuff and does the proxie stuff so there is always something he has to do daily. just the way the cookie crumbles for him.

he does his trips on his vacay time, and then one with me each year.

and i do my solo trip each year, which i haven't told him about yet.

i put it on our kitchen calendar. not my fault he hasn't looked at the fall months yet.......

Me & my ketchup are goin' to bed....been loooong day. 2 hr. delay for the boy and DH home sick...again. (he's hoping to make it in tomorrow) I worked 8:30-3:30 at the salon and got in my first session before i left...guess i have 'officially' started on my vacation tan! :lmao:

By the time I got home and shoveled the slushy driveway, dinner for me and the boy and then later for DH, did dishes, load of wash, took care of things with Bubba...I'm beat :headache: And, yet again, this freakin' pain behind my eyeballs :headache: :headache:

Hi Guys! Quick stopy by to say hi and let you all know that I'm still alive (I know you were all holding your breath on that one!). I "think" I'm getting better (as opposed to worse) so that's a good thing. Of course now the weather forecast just switched from "Snow Advisory" to "Heavy Snow Warning" for tomorrow. I'm hoping for enough snow (like Sharon's) to get a snow day and "off-work" day (not going to happen, but I can hope!) or not enough snow to not cause driving headaches! :headache:

tomorrow is the big candy- sex and flowers and more sex day. congrats to any threaders getting any of the afor- mentioned.

if you aint getting any of the above, welcome to the rest of the world.

DH asked me today if I bought him a card. I said no and he said "Okay, good, then I don't need to get one for you." Guess I shouldn't set my sights very high for tomorrow, what do you think? ;)

My day in grade three was OK but why are there kids in 3rd grade that can't tie their own shoes ??? I mean 1st grade ok ,2nd grade you are learning but by grade 3 can we teach our kids to tie shoes or WHAT !!! .....Rant over

I know you won't believe this, but I swear (honestly!) we finally taught DS14 last summer, so he knew how before he entered high school! :scared:

For some reason, my other two learned before kindergarten. Somehow we missed it with him, and then he was all upset when he was in the younger grades and refused to learn, then we just somehow always made a point of getting him slipon shoes or velcro. We finally decided it might be a useful life skill to master. Of course at 14 it took about 10 minutes to grasp, but still!

Your DH is lucky to have time acrue. DH has to take it or lose it. He prefers to use his sick days for taking care of errands, or something around the house....or anything else...BUT being sick :sad2:

My DH also can't carry it over, but he can cash in up to a week for money. He's done this the past few years, but this year (they go by date of hire so his time expires March 30th) he definitely won't have to with the time off for Disney last summer, plus a week in Michigan plus a bunch of days here and there. Oh, and 6 more days in March to go out east, but he'll probably borrow them off next year's!

His company changed the sick day policy recently too. Used to be you could take them, but more than 1 at a time required a doctor's note. Now it's you get I think 4 of them, but if you don't use them as sick days they can be used as vacation. So of course it's better to use them when you're not sick (well, more fun at least!).

Barb, myself, my son and his girlfriend go down to Portofino on Tuesday. We check on Friday morning and head over to the AKL for Pirates and Princess party and will be joined by my daughter who will be flying down that day. Still waiting for news on Ginger.

Have a great time damo! And I'm curious to hear more about what happened with Ginger too!

Everyone keep holding down the fort without me! Hoping to be feeling better by tomorrow night, and if not, at least then it's the weekend for me! (Unless we get a snow day, then I'll have to go in Friday - maybe I don't want a snow day!).

Okay, one funny story to leave you guys with that I just never got around to to telling you this weekend:

The boys had a half day on Friday, so Stephen and I went out to lunch at Olive Garden and dropped Matt and GF at the mall. Well, their BIG anniversary (ONE YEAR) is coming up next Sunday, plus of course Valentine’s Day. So they were kind of shopping together. Matt picked out and helped her stuff a Build-a-Bear teddy. Well, you know how you get a birth certificate with it that you fill out with the name, etc.? We looked at the certificate (they left it in the car when they went somewhere else) and it said “Stuffed for you with love by MATTSIE POO!” :lmao: Um, okay! Yeah, he’s way gone! :rolleyes1

stopping by to put the cat outside and turn off the porch light.

see you in the morning if i don't oversleep.
have to be at work around 7 am.

if not then, see you when the skool bell rings tomorrow......:teacher:

marcie, good to hear you are still among the living.
hope you feel better real soon.

i keep telling you - the key is to plan your anniversary the same day;) (course it's sorta like having a birthday on Christmas lol)

I think my Christmas baby would argue that that is not a good thing.

Don't see mac.....OR Todd.....OR Katie..... :confused3 ...or Jodie.....

Or Marcie, or Fletch, or Allison (who is awol)

He has no idea of the crap she pulls, and he's young enuf he doesn't need to know.....yet. One day when he's older, but for now, thru his eyes, it's still his 'Mom-Mom'

It is good that he doesn't see it yet. Mikey & Ally both see it in my mom. Guess that is why I don't just accept that she is that way.

Yep...she invited herself....for the WHOLE trip! :headache: ALL 17 days of it :sad2: Countin' on my homie "meets" to keep me busy....and the boys can just ride coasters to get away from her :rotfl2: (We invited lots of friends and family on this cruise....the more the merrier type thing....well, when it came time to ante up funds, everyone couldn't afford it, and she's not bright enuf to realize she is a 3rd wheel :sad2:

Oh what fun!

I'm supposed to work Mon, Wed & Thurs at the new job, but they put me on Tues morning as a backup (told them Tues & Fri morning I could work as a backup IF they NEEDED me.....will get next weeks schedule tomorrow...hopefully....)

Good luck!

Okay, in high skool, there are 'nerds' and 'sportys' (kids into sports)...we had a group of 'motorheads'....kids really into cars and hanging out 'in town' cruising High St. Guys were into fixing them up and racing and all sorts of things related to cars...that's all.....

Well that pretty much describes most kids I went to school with. We did it all. Guess thats cause there was nothing else to do. We also went out mudding.

Your DH is lucky to have time acrue. DH has to take it or lose it. He prefers to use his sick days for taking care of errands, or something around the house....or anything else...BUT being sick :sad2:

He has 6 weeks he carried over from last year. He gets another 8 hours every 2 weeks so that would be another 5 weeks plus a day that he will get this year. I believe he is at 4 hours every 2 weeks for sick leave. He has 1000's of hours of sick leave built up. When it is close to retirement he will go on sick leave pending retirement to use it all up. :sad2:

It's crazy, but I'm helping out at the chiro office tomorrow for 4hrs.

:cool1: At least it is money!

With this Nascar thing, I don't follow it, but I'll take the guy named Biffle, cause his name sounds like he could have been a character on Gumby :lmao:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

Don't get me started....our social security system is SO messed up! :headache: I used to work with a retired postmaster at HH job....she still worked fulltime at HH AND was able to collect from pension......made sure she worked the right amount of hours to NOT make too much money..... :sad2:

Dh's dad gets retirement pay from the military, 2 companies & the department of defense.

OK, I just saw that someone picked the guy with the funny name, I'll have to contemplate this big decision and get back to you???? :confused3

You can still pick the Biff. Penny didn't say only one person per driver.

mr mac gets 21 days a year for vacation but never can use it all.
when he is not at work, his job is not done.

usually he has to kiss off some vacation days each year.
and he rants about it to me as if i had anything to do with it......

Poor guy. But he sure shouldn't blame you for it.

 spring is comin'! spring is comin'! I'll take the extra daylight....don't care about losing an hour of sleep ONE night (sorry Lori)....extra daylight is MANY days....

But I don't just loose it for one night. I am a night owl. So I keep going to bed later and still have to get up earlier for quite a while. It takes my internal clock weeks to adjust. :headache:

We had that snow, then ice, then rain this morning....thought Tracie, Mike & I were gonna haveta borrow Lori's boat  We got just over 2.50" of rain :sad2: (happy to live on a mountain) ...and yes, tomorrow is gonna be 'just another day' ....for the most part :rolleyes1

The boat is in the back yard. Just yell if you need it!

You're a great sister....hopefully you'll drop in this weekend..... tell your sister, if she's anything like you (and we like you), we'll share you with her! :rolleyes1

I plan to pop in from time to time to try to stay catched up. Don't need to get days behind again.

That sounds like a fabulous trip. Enjoy the new house. So is dh staying behind to keep the snow shoveled?

i know it suxs big time. he is given benefit time but can't always use it.
he handles the compliance stuff and does the proxie stuff so there is always something he has to do daily. just the way the cookie crumbles for him.

he does his trips on his vacay time, and then one with me each year.

and i do my solo trip each year, which i haven't told him about yet.

i put it on our kitchen calendar. not my fault he hasn't looked at the fall months yet.......

You would think he would be expecting the fall trip. You do take it every year, don't you? Not your fault he won't take all his vacation time. :rolleyes1

:headache:

DH asked me today if I bought him a card. I said no and he said "Okay, good, then I don't need to get one for you." Guess I shouldn't set my sights very high for tomorrow, what do you think? ;)

:rolleyes1

Hey Marcie! Glad you are still alive. Hope you feel better soon. Tell Mattsie Poo hi!

Barb - Dh had to go out of town for a meeting during the middle of our trip last year. We had a much better time without grumpy butt. :scared1: We are going to be gone a full two weeks without him this year! :cool1: :cool1:
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Well, I am caught up from the baseball meeting. It took a while. I can't imagine how bad it would be again if I am not able to check in frequently this weekend. :headache:

Nite all!
