I buy my cigs by the carton which is always cheaper than buying them by the pack. I pay $28.21 for a carton ($2.82/pk) of Marlboro Lights 100s but I've seen them as high as $4.50/pack bought alone.

I just asked Amanda how much a carton of Marlboro Lights 100s costs. Her answer $48. So glad I quit. Even after 15 years, I still get that urge once in a while. Although it's getting pretty hard for smokers to find somewhere to smoke. Can't smoke in restaurants, bars, schools, public buildings. It's getting crazy.

Although it's getting pretty hard for smokers to find somewhere to smoke. Can't smoke in restaurants, bars, schools, public buildings. It's getting crazy.

Well...and that's the reason I'm going to quit. That and the fact that effective July 1st, we can not smoke on property at work anymore and I don't want to have an issue when the big day comes. I'm tiring of fighting the anti-smoking wave and want to get healthier.

Otherwise I'm gonna break out the health pictures!!!

I'm working on it but it's not going to be easy.

No..it doesn't matter what order you buy them in. Huntsville is the first game, followed by Prime Suspects, Ravenhearst and Madame Fate.

Oh god Barb, how horrifying!!! Can't blame you for the uneasiness. I'm not a parent and I can't imagine what it is like to read something like that and send your children to school the next day. But as a teacher, its scary!!!

I must be nutsoid. I'm putting myself on a 1200-1500 calorie per day diet for the rest of the month. It's essentially the Special K diet, but I do need to lose 6-8lbs.

Madame Fate is the latest game in the Mystery Case Files series from Big Fish Games. I have all four and YES...they are addictive. It's a hidden object game and you have to solve puzzles between "rounds" in order to finish the game. Madame Fate's puzzles are the hardest yet so it's taking me a LONG time to get through them w/o cheating. If you go to www.bigfishgames.com you can download and play for an hour for free. BUT...be warned...you WILL get hooked and have to end up buying the game.

My daughter works part time at the local convenience store here in Maine while she is going to college. She said a pack of Marlboros goes for around $5.50 and a pack of Merits is $6.50.

chgo has the high tax on the cigs. i think it is about $10 a pack there but no one buys smokes in the city, they go elsewhere.

wisconsin upped their tax another buck jan 1st on the smokes.
now they come to illinois, lake county to stock up. marboro lights are the same here as there for you todd. ( lake county does not have the high tax cook does.)

can't smoke anywhere in illinois but your home and yard and car but you can drive to wisconsin and smoke in the resturants there.....

Oh Barb, that's terrible about the school down the road from you! I wonder what happened to upset that child! It didn't sound like he was your typical "trouble maker," so it makes me wonder if someone had been cruel to him, which is not a reason to retaliate the way he did, but at 13 boys are really confused...they're really sensitive. I know I worry about mine all the time. I really feel for that boy's mother right now. I hope that the children that he hurt are going to be ok and I hope that the boy that did it is remorseful and will get some help because it sounds like he was really troubled.

Tricia - I am so happy to hear that Carol's surgery went well. We will be hoping for a good report from the dr.

Janet - I remember "They Live" with RRP. I have seen it a few times. I thought it was a decent movie.

Wendy - so glad you are not having any of the bad side effects of Alli. This was the main reason I would not use this product. With working at client's offices so much, I just didn't want to take the risk. Congrats on the weight loss. It always helps when you see some progress.

Good morning!
Another beautiful sunny day here. The last 2 days have been in the high 50's, low 60's. Actually broke a record on Tues. Back to the 30's today, but not windy. We must have lost about 2 feet of snow. I can see grass in places! How many more days until spring?

Tricia - I hope Carol was able to get some sleep last night. Are you going to be able to visit her today? You all must be in 7th heaven!

It is scary...but we are only in 3rd grade and that is another school district entirely...so, I'm okay with it....today....

Apparently, according to the news, yet another case of 'bullying' and such..... But, from his pic, he looked like an "in crowder" and 'cool'....wasn't overweight or out of style haircut or clothes like you see on some of these kids that "snap"...he looked perfectly 'normal' like a kid his age should. Oh, and they did mention this is the anniversary "time/month" of his Dad's death....apparently he died 4 (i think) yrs ago in a car accident. This kid was crying for help....I don't really think he wanted to hurt anyone, but didn't know where to turn. Nobody was killed, just a few 'stabbings' and the one girl who was "stabbed" had a bandaid on her shoulder.... looked more like a scratch to me
