Well, believe it or not, the plumber actually came a few minutes early (before my 9-11 window) and was done in a half hour.

Everyone sprinkle some pixie and/or mummy dust for DS14 who's been doing auditions for West Side Story for the last two weeks at the high school.

I don't know if not wanting to go to the doctor is as much a "guy" thing as a "not wanting to waste money" thing. ...... You get told "take it easy and rest and drink fluids and use Tylenol". I can diagnose that myself. Back injury - same thing. Foot pain - same thing. It's just not worth dragging yourself over there, sitting in a room picking up various other diseases only to be told what you could figure out yourself!

I'll agree...it's nice when they are early..... and it's the labor they charge that's expensive. DH's best friend owns his own plumbing company and they mostly do 'commerical' work, but 1 guy does 'residential'....that would be Ken. He's a great guy and very trustworthy. I once got a bill and was shocked it was like $60some/hr. for labor Next time I saw Ken, I asked if he was getting that $60some/hr. He said No! It's what they charge, not what they are paid....but I do know they are paid well

And, I would have to agree with you on the doctor thing....self diagnoses is just as good....heck, that's what WebMD is for....now, if we could only write our own scripts ......

Congrats to Bubba and his team! Bet that put those little munchkins in their place! Always nice to beat them. So do you get anything for it? For years, our indoor soccer place gave out these dorky little trophies. Then they switched to t-shirts which I think are so much more practical and fun!

3 more games in the session....don't think there are any trophies or anything like that.....what we get is BRAGGIN' RIGHTS

Oh don't you love it when companies do that. Back when I still worked for Xerox and they were downsizing the office staff, they went in one morning with boxes and walked up to different desk and stood there while people boxed up their stuff then escorted them out of the building. What a crappy way to treat people that had been loyal employees. It was then that I decided I would not continue to work for such a horrible company and soon after left to stay home with Ally. And it has gone downhill for the employees there ever since.

Uh...that really IS a sucky way to treat people who worked hard for you. I realize they are making sure you don't damage/steal company property, but jeez..... oh, and regarding the "going downhill" part..... Tell me about it....DFIL called here one night years ago, telling us we HAD to buy stock in Xerox...good deal, good deal.. So, we did. Then, it tanked ..and I mean tanked! We still own it...at least till we break even with our inital investment Still blame DFIL for that one to this day.....

I can't drink hot chocolate, or anything hot for that matter. It seems as though I just can't drink anything slow and always burn my tongue. Now doesn't that sound like a blonde moment!

My secret (cuz I used to do the same thing) is to make just over 3/4 cup of hot chocolate. Then after it's hot and how you want it, stir in cold milk (or water if you used that) to cool it to the perfect temperature.... I do that with Ry's soup too....get it nice and hot, and add a bit of ice water to cool it rather quickly to the right temperature so he can eat it right away.

So what exactly is a good tip? I am so totally clueless when it comes to that. I do tip but I'm not sure if I do enough. Help!

Welllll...kind of depends on the cost of living where you live. Also depends on the service..cut? color/cut? How much does she charge for your service?? I know what I charge and what I get..but my prices may be low or high compared to where you live..... Gimmie details, and I can help you better.....

Oh, I can remember one time... I was about 7 months pregnant with Joshua, so nice big baby belly going on me. We had plumbing problems and Brad had me holding the base of the auto drain snake... don't know if you've ever seen one or know what I'm talking about... think of an electric spinning garden hose dispenser and you'll be close. This thing is shaking and whoomping around... I'm pregnant and miserable to begin with... now I'm squatting on the floor trying to hold this thing steady... Brad decides he's got the clog and starts running it in reverse to get the snake back. It comes whipping out of his hands and shoots septic pipe goo all over the bathroom and both of us. I looked him square in the eyes and said, "You sure know how to show a girl a good time. Can I pick the next date night activity?"

yeah the DW is still after me too but its mainly my back and I throw it out all the time and mix in a stomach virus that I believe my youngest DS gave to me cause he came home last week doing the same as I am doing now and the doctor told us it was a virus and we have to let it run its course and plus DW had a bad cold last week also.
LOL I knew one of them would get me

ah-ha!!! Knew you'd make it to the doctors Glad you went....hope the ole back feels better soon. DH was actually home one day this week with back pain....he can't figure out why, but it hurt....he says it's not 100% yet, but it's getting there.....

I got the car window fixed today for a tune of $358.00 but not sure if I want to keep dumping $$$ into it for too much longer. Problem is...it's not paid for and I don't know if I could trade it for something else and not have a huge car payment. I'm going to do some inquiring tomorrow so wish me luck.

Good luck ..... You don't know until you ask....car salesman are desperate this time of year....it's all about the bargaining back and forth..stick to yer guns, tell 'em if you don't get "x, x and x" you are walking...you'd be surprised what they are willing to do to make a sale....

We had a funny story in the paper the other day. A lady who was VERY pregnant was on her way to the hospital with her husband (she was driving...if you can believe it) and got lost. They summoned two police officers to assist with directions but she went into labor and the officers helped deliver the baby in the car.

They took the family to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children (which is on campus where I work) and then arrested the husband due to two outstanding warrants.

The mother and baby are doing fine.

That story actually made OUR news Poor guy...ya haveta feel bad for him to some extent.....
