Why do coaches plan practices for so early on the weekend? Mikey has to go to baseball practice at 10. Of course that is better than what yourds had to do but still. Why not practice in the afternoon and let them sleep in.

I'll help you out with this...dh burns his bacon and I mean burns it! I complained about the smell in the house last weekend, it lasted all day. So today he cooked it on the gas grill outside, opened the door and in came the smell. Now the house smells again. It is so burnt I don't know how he can stand to eat it. And that smell is disgusting. Makes me never want to eat bacon. So can you imagine that smell? There is even smoke in the house from it and it was cooked outside!

Wait! I'm confused Your DH chooses to eat it burnt??

Penny and all you east-coasters- I guess groundhog is telling us 6 more weeks of winter?? Doesn't surprise me. I get confused when he sees his shadow or not see his shadow,which one is it that tells us spring is coming soon? I just know I LOVE the Groundhog Day movie with Bill Murray in it

The tradition with groundhog is: If he sees his shadow, he gets scared and runs back into his 'house' and is afraid to come out...hence, the 6 more weeks (when it starts to warm up). But, as mentioned before, with so many frickin tv camera lights on, there is NO way he isn't going to see his shadow, resulting in 6 more weeks. If they are 'waking him up' before/at 6am, the sun isn't up yet (in Feb!) and there is NO way he should be seeing his shadow!

Which means....if he doesn't see his shadow, (he's not scared and running back inside) he stays outside and there will be early spring!

Theresa Earnhart is the head of DEI (Dale Earnhart Inc. the company started by Dale Earnhart Sr). She is the second Mrs. Dale Earnhart. She inherited the company when Dale Sr died. There has constantly been a power struggle between "the family" (Dale Jr and the other blood relatives) and "the widow" (Theresa).

Last year, Dale Jr announced he was leaving DEI to drive for another company. Theresa refused to release the Number 8 (the car number that Dale Jr has always driven... companies own the number, drivers don't... but it is customary to let a driver take his number with him once he becomes famous). Dale Jr will now drive the Number 88, as close as he could come to his original number.

MY driver, Mark Martin... bless his heart... got his contract purchased by DEI in a merger deal. He will now be driving the Number 8. I dread the first time they roll out that car. It won't be pretty.

That's a hot button topic in my house. DH is one of THOSE Jr. fans. I like Mark Martin alot, and so does DH, so honestly, we were kind of glad to see the 8 be driven by him. Better him than someone like Kyle Busch (sorry if any of you are KB fans). I'm not sure I know who the sponsor is or what the car will look like now. . . but it will for sure be weird to not have a red #8. Kasey Kane got the Budweiser sponsorship, so that's cool (and he's such a cutie) but the new #88 gear is no way as cool looking as the previous stuff. The sweet side is there's much more for our kids since we wouldn't purchase them anything with the Budweiser logo. DH's first 2 pieces of #88 diecast arrived a day or two ago. . .I've not even seen it yet. I don't know if he's even opened it. I think he might be dreading it because it's so different that it's difficult to get used to. His driver jackets (yes, plural) arrived last week and he's wearing the white and green one. Hey. . he washed my car earlier in the week because it was so filthy from all the road salt he was afraid he would get it on his brand new white coat.

Our TV has literally been on speed channel for at least two weeks!

The interview went okay. the person doing the interview? i think it was her first, she was 21 if a day, and dressed really cute. talk about casual.............

i asked lots of questions, SHE wrote a lot of them down, as she did NOThave the answers. you know, basic stuff, regarding holdiays and 401 and such???

i am not holidng out hope that she was clued in at all......

Did you send a follow-up letter after the interview? It may very well have been her first interview, who knows? Hopefully her incompetency won't hurt your chances. Keep thinking positive!

maybe i will go down to NE Georgia and vacation at Tricias house. I can clean, keep an eye on the kids while she is at Daytona, and fill them full of sugar. as long as she brings back some souvies, i will be all set.

Went to Monster Jam today and it was VERY fun for my DS he had a blast . I kind of enjoyed it too.

Our anniversary was good we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner . We don't usually eat there so it was good. Not really romantic but the weather was so bad yesterday we didn't make it to our usual resturant .

I am ordering my sleepnumber bed. It is just about as much as a regular king bed else where and well I really wanted it . I went to the store to see it in our mall and it was very comfortable . I could have taken a nap right there in the store .

I think your anniversary day sounds just nice! Just the two of you is what counts....not WHERE, but with WHO I hope you really like your new bed....wasn't it Jodie checkin them out?? And you have to promise us you'll 'break it in' properly when you get it

I have yet to meet a fan of either of the Busch brothers. There isn't one (thankfully) on this thread. I know there must be some out there or they wouldn't keep racing them, but I don't know who/where they are.

The Number 8 car will get Mark Martin's sponsor. It will be the Army car. If anyone and any sponsor can pull off driving the 8, it is Martin with the Army.

It just remains to be seen if the fan hatred of the Theresa run DEI will be stronger... or the fan loyalty to Mark and Army will be stronger.

Dale Jr announced his departure after he was unable to reach a contract agreement with DEI. He wanted more ownership (i.e. control) of his own car. He didn't get it, so he told them thank you but I'll shop around. He got a sweet deal with the hottest company in racing. Theresa then refused to let him take the number with him.

I watched the Nascar Primetime Specials that ran for 5 weeks at 10pm on ABC (leading up to the end of the season). They followed Mark Martin, along with Juan Pablo Montoya and a rookie (name escapes me at the drunken moment). Got to see Mark at home in Charlotte. He has a workout gym at his house. Well, it is a separate building on his property. They showed him doing some of his routine. Whoosh... I'm getting hot just remembering it. Damn.
