i was teaching school that day.
what were you doing?

Oddly enuf, getting ready to go work. Bubba was 2.5 yrs at the time. I called DH at work and his phone rang, and rang, and rang... :confused3 Got worried until he finally picked up. Conversation went like this:

Me: Where were you? Why'd it take you so long to answer?
DH: Watchin' tv
Me: Well, they don't pay you to watch tv...get back to work before you lose your job!
DH: What are you watching on tv? What channel do you have on?
(DUH! My kid is 2!)
ME: Nick..as usual....why?
DH: Honey, turn on ANY OTHER CHANNEL. (kinda funny (now, not then) how he worded it)

So, I flipped the channel, and cried. Left for work when Tower 1 started coming down. Hugged my baby and went to work....could not fathom.... :sad2: Still brings a tear to my eye.....(and i didn't 'lose' anyone close to me that day either.....just thinking of the total loss..... :guilty: ....still brings that tear )

Hey all, just wanted to pop in real quick, mom just called and wants me to meet her in the city for lunch. I got two Hannah Montana tickets for my dd & myself this morning. So glad I got a code from Hannah's site yesterday for the presale cause when I tried to log on at 10 till 10 her site was jammed and I could not get in.

Anyway, got right in at 10 in ticketmaster and secured 2 very decent seats for the two of us.

I will come back late to post my 9/11 story. It still tears me up too, been tearing up all morning.

Hey thanks I didn't even notice until you pointed it out, musta just happened!:thumbsup2

Are my PA homies getting these downpours or did you have them yesterday????????

I was at work on 9/11.
I remember it was a beautifull late summer day.
My second day back after vacation.
we always stayed at work during storms and whatnot and they sent us home. i knew it was worse than it sounded on the radio. I got home, and just sat down and cried. Life has NOT been the same since for anyone. Damn Terrorists!!!!

My nephew went to Iraq yesterday.
My brother was in the first gulf war.
Thank you to all who have served, or who serve now. :grouphug:

Penny - we had them yesterday. For whatever stupid reason, they still didn't cancel DS12's soccer game. His light blue and white shorts ended up one color - brown - after the game. Ick! Today it's gloomy out, but not raining so hopefully the game this afternoon should be less muddy!

I'm working on my wedding pics for you guys - hang in there! Mine take longer because I have to go WAY back in time - to the age of the dinosaurs when digital cameras didn't exist. No really, it's only been 19 years and change! :rotfl:

Tell your nephew thanks for us.

DH & I both served in the first Gulf War as well. Okay, that's it - if I ever get the wedding pics done I'll find some cute camo uniform pics of us next!

mac - every chick needs a starter husband or two; preferrably one @ a time:banana:
tracie - grrrrrrreat pics, luv the graveyard one...it's killing me.:) :lmao:

spidey - that is some tag, def. a keeper

barb - i was home plopped on the couch watching the Today show after dropping youngest off @ skool. Watched the 1st one & yelled up the stairs to DH to haul butt outta bed & check it out (he was on 4-12 shift). He was still in the BR when the 2nd one hit. I couldn't believe a 2nd one had hit the towers.

DS said I was mistaken, had to be a instant replay:confused3 i took no satisfaction in telling him it was so:sad1: world changed as we knew it. Sux our kids had such a loss of innocence.

DH then insisted I NOT pick up DS, took me until lunch time to wear him down...@ that point there were only 2 or 3 kids left in the class. Teacher turned on the tv and my son found out what happened by watching the tube instead of from his parents. He still reminds me of how i "left him there"...guilt - good for the soul...of course, i get to blame it on DH - ha.

Okay, the wedding pics! I know you've been holding your breath!

We were married in 1988 at West Point, New York (U. S. Military Academy) two days after my graduation. It POURED for our graduation - to the point that all of our nice, crisp white dress pants became completely translucent! :rotfl: However, one plus was that obviously the NY Times photographer was in a hurry to get in out of the rain and wanted to get a quick shot of a female graduating. Since I was the second female to graduate in my class, I ended up the next day with a nice photo of myself getting my diploma from George Bush in the NY Times (okay, if I had ANY idea of where that was, I'd put that pic in for you too!). Anyways, after a miserable graduation, we deserved a beautiful wedding and the weather cooperated with a 75 and sunny day.

My bridesmaids - 2 from the Army, one from the Air Force. A good friend from the Navy was also supposed to be in the wedding but ended up with a 102 fever that morning and couldn't come:

Gotta love a military wedding:

Cutting the cake - yes, ours was just a traditional, boring wedding cake!

Okay - on to the Gulf War pics. DH & I weren't together so there aren't a lot of them of both of us, although we saw each other about weekly while we were both down in Dhahran for the first few months. Once we moved up north near the Iraqi border we didn't see much of each other anymore until after the war ended.

We call this one my "all dressed up for the first day of War" pic :rotfl: :

Okay, and I dug out my NY Times pic. My folks called the times and got the original 8x10 of the photo, then the next time Bush was in the Detroit area campaigning (at this time he was VP, a few months before he was first elected), they contacted a radio station and arranged to get him to sign it for me, then got it all nicely framed. I can't figure out how to get it out of the frame, and am afraid it would fall apart anyways if I did, so you get a really bad pic of it - but it's me - really it is! ;)

I had my doctor appointment. He diagnosed me with bacterial colitis. From the way he talked, he basically doesn't know what I've come in contact with, but since my body is trying to flush it out, he's going with a bacteria of some sort. Since we don't know exactly what is in there, he is putting me on TWO antibiotics (Cipro and Metro) so that we kill whatever it is in there. Great. :sad2:

I haven't had a chance to catch up, but I did see Jodie's wedding pics, so here are mine in return...

Don't know if you can see it in this pic, but I wore Keds tennis shoes under my wedding dress. They were decorated with sequins and satin laces, but still Keds. The dress was bad enough. I wasn't going to kill my feet too!

After we did the formal thing, we invited everyone back to our house for a cookout.

We set up a tent and surrounded it with umbrella tables so that everyone just wound up spilling out all over our yard.

The one wearing red is idiot nephew. THE idiot nephew that had the staged engagement in Ireland and has already had the casual vow exchange (at the Ritz in Orlando) and we will have to attend wedding number 2 in Nashville in January. Don't get me started. :sad2:

metro - glad to hear all is well in the motherland, cool off down there yet?

tricia - wow, poor sickie - get better...i have to take cipro due to penicillin (sp) allergy...it can cause digestive distress.:rolleyes1 feel better soon!

DH was on carrier in NY harbor for the '76 celebration, met Pres. Ford - now i know 2 people who have rubbed elbows with the boss(es)
