We don't have them here :sad2: oh well....we'll stick w/ our "Becky" burgers  (they are cool looking tho....I don't recall seeing burgers looking like that in Disney tho  ...ya think they would .... especially since they make their ice cream bars to look like it! :confused3 )
What are Becky burgers?
I don't know who actually distributes the Mickey burgers, why they aren't at Disney parks :confused3 But the Chicago area just started getting these burgers about a couple of months ago. I don't think there are any Mickey buns tho, at least I haven't seen them.
I do love the Mickey ice cream bars at the parks, tho! :thumbsup2 I hope someday they will sell the Mickey bars at the grocery stores here.

rotf (notice the weekly pill box above the cake - wonder if they come with it)

Hope you have a great day bud!

Today's high: 64, with rain all day! Wasn't it just a week ago we were sweltering? (Okay, granted I was in Florida then!). I'm guessing Mac is getting the same beautiful weather?

DS12 is doing well with his teeth. Went Friday to get his spacers for his braces, and coming as no surprise, didn't need spacers since they've pulled so many teeth there's nothing to space against! He gets his braces on Tuesday. He's still in pain a little, but we've moved from Tylenol #3 down to regular Motrin. He says only one area hurts so when he gets the braces I'll have the ortho check to make sure it's not getting infected or anything. On Tuesday when he can start using his syringe to clean out the area I'll feel better about keeping it clean.

Incidentally, he played his first "professional" mass yesterday! He's an accompanist at our church and yesterday was his first mass since he turned 12 and is now old enough to have a work permit and get paid! Yes, it's only $20 a mass, but still cool for a 12 year old! Until now he's always had an adult there with him (to prompt him, etc.), but he got to do it all himself yesterday! Always fun to be there with him as everyone congratulates him afterwards and says what a great job he did. Of course it would be better if half of them didn't say "Great job young lady", or tell me how well my daughter plays! But I guess if he cared immensely he'd get a haircut!

Thanks for anyone who gave me advice on DS15. He at least got to give his girlfriend one of her presents at band practice on Friday (their actual anniversary). He did the "pick a pearl" at Japan at Epcot and had it made into a nice necklace for her and I guess she loved it. I'm also glad to know that I'm not being overprotective since it sounds like a lot of you have stricter rules than we do (or even her parents do!). I only get his perspective, which is of course that everyone in the world's parents let them do WAY more stuff than we do!

I really think things would go better between them (and both sets of parents) if the two of them could come up with some actual planned activities when they're together. Any suggestions? Unfortunately his girlfriend broke her thumb and tore some ligaments (playing softball) this summer and still has her hand in a cast, so that rules out swimming, bowling, etc. I just think their main "activity" is watching movies, aka "snuggling". Once school starts again, they can go to football games and things like that, but any ideas for the meantime?

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gemma - your cake's the best one:thumbsup2

We had a blast @ Kennywood...

rode everything over & over until it got really crowded later in the afternoon (band festival?) and ate the "best french fries in northern america" voted 8 years running, and chocolate dipped ice cream rolled in nuts with a cherrie on top, and pizza...topped it all off with a few beers once we got home...YUM

i am feeling my years this am, riding those wooden coasters so many times will do it to you after a certain decade is reached;)

off to Chinese buffet (way to early, i need more rest) to meet with oldest DS & homeowner to try & negotiate a deal.popcorn:: I'll spring for lunch, not for a downpayment.:rolleyes1

Hi all-

Marciemi- my DH and DS were up near you last night and probably just left already to come home. They stayed overnight at the USS Cobia- the Wisconsin maritime museum and submarine in Manitowoc, WI. It was a Cub scout overnight. DD and I stayed home here and had some "girl time".
Yes, it's been raining constantly by me, too!:sad2:

Glad your 12 yo DS is doing well recuperating with the teeth pulled! Glad to hear about the music is going well for Mass. What instrument does he play? Or is it the organ he plays? I go to a non-denominational protestant megachurch near me for many yrs, so we have a jazz/rock band in church! It's cool! :thumbsup2
I don't have much advice for your 15 yo, other than I and DH are strict parents, too. My kids are 10, so I'm not at that teen stage yet.
I guess keep your DS and his girlfriend occupied with group activities of some sort. A woman I knew from my church, her 16 yr old DD at the time got preg with the boyfriend  She was alone too much with the BF, so of course, went too far. The woman that this happened to her DD, was going thru a divorce at the time, so unstable family life there. The last thing I knew (about 3 yrs ago), the DD had the baby and she gave the baby up for adoption to a distant family member of theirs. Guess it was an open adoption, as they all kept in touch, the DD kept in touch with the relative that adopted her baby. I have no clue what has been going on since, as I heard the DD was trying to win back the custody of her baby- probably now a 3 or 4 yo child. I don't see this woman at church anymore for awhile, so I have no clue what happened since. It is a true story I wanted to share tho.

Keishashadow-Glad you had fun at Kennywood!:cool1:
Is that near Pittsburgh? Did you take pics?
Hope all is well with your oldest DS going house hunting :)

Hi to all!

Love everyone's cakes and presents for Mac :thumbsup2

Thanks Rose for the info and stories. Going to do our best to make sure DS15 certainly doesn't have the chance to get the girlfriend pregnant! I can only do so much about the "groping" though unless I sit in the same room as them all the time! (Yeah, that would work!).

DS12 plays most instruments, but plays the piano at church. Our church doesn't have an organ. We are dedicating a new church, with a brand new grand piano, in October so that should be even more fun for him to play on. Occasionally my other 2 play (trumpet & flute) for some masses, but that's just for fun. DS12 is going to an organ workshop sometime this fall, and we used to have an organ (a smaller one, but about 2/3 the size of an upright piano with pedals, etc.) that he could play, but we got rid of it when we moved.

Oh, and for the rest of you - the buy of the week. DS14 and I got a pool table for $35 at a garage sale on Thursday! It's a bit smaller than regulation, and the legs fold under for storage, but it uses regular balls, cue sticks, etc. and it came with everything - even chalk and 3 cues for the 3 boys! (Or a spare for when they break one!) They loved the pool table so much at the house we rented that even though this isn't a "real" table, it's enough for them to have a lot of fun with and I'm sure we've gotten our $35 worth already! I'll take a pic later for you guys! (Of course then you'll see our messy basement!)

What are Becky burgers?

My girlfriend Becky's recipe :rotfl2: (remember her from the shore pictures?)

Janet: LOVE the "in yer face" cake :rotfl: hope it tasted as good as it looks

Marcie: glad to hear you son is feeling better and your other got to give his anniversary present....hopefully he's learned his lesson.....(which is DON'T get CAUGHT...not necessarily don't do what he was doing :rolleyes1 )

Okay....here's my "excitement" for the morning:

After paying bills and starting the :laundy: , I needed to run to the bank and the grocery store. We'll start with the "bank" story......

I have 3 separate deposits and one check to cash. One deposit is $400, another is $320 and the other is $2200 (all of these are in cash too). So, I deposit them one by one (adding a little from the savings for our new water softener). (Please do not ask me why I deposit them separately, they were for different bills and I keep it all straight by writing what the deposit was for on my receipt....I know, I'm weird!) Anyhow...after about 5 minutes or so of going thru all this (I apparently had someone new), I give her the $20 check to cash (not deposit), and she asks me for ID :confused3 :lmao: Uh.....didn't I just deposit close to $3K in your bank??? :lmao: I tell her this and she says she's sorry, that's their policy. Ok...whatever :rolleyes2

Okay, next stop is the grocery store. I finish shopping and proceed to the self-checkout lane (like I do every week). The lady ahead of me tells me that her basket/cart is empty (like I can't see that) and when she starts checking her items out, I will be able to put my stuff on the belt. So, she starts scanning her items and the belt moves up a bit. Then a bit more. Then she proceeds to start grabbing her 6 pack of sodas and scanning them. Before I knew it, she was consistantly taking items from the middle of the belt, leaving ONE JAR OF SPAGHETTI SAUCE SITTING ON THE SENSOR SO THE BELT DOESN'T ADVANCE THE AND GROCERIES DON'T MOVE UP! Now, c'mon lady :headache: ...what a moron!

So, that was my exciting morning....I know...kinda sad. Staying in the 70's here today and already rained pretty good, just overcast right now, but I expect more rain....for the next couple of days they say :sad2: Looonging for the hot, humid summer days....oh yeah...they'll be back by the end of the week :woohoo:

I'm guessing Missy Macraven is having a wonderful birthday today already....she hasn't been "by" yet :rolleyes1 (you go girl :thumbsup2 )

L8r gators........

We're home from our anniversary night out.

Mac - :bday:

Keisha - glad you had a fun day at Kennywood!

Gemma - love the beer cake!

Penny - WOO HOO for the under two weeks to go!

Barb - I loved the pic of the half naked men. Nothing like dancing pecs...

Rose - send us some of your rain down this way... if you don't want it, we'll take it!

Marcie - glad your DS12 is improving and WAY cool on the playing for mass. I don't have much in suggestions for activities for DS15 and his GF... actually, I don't have any. When I was a teen, we went to arcades and played Pac Man, so I think it is safe to say that I am a little out of touch with what a teen might find entertaining these days. AND, I hope you didn't take my post as actual advice on what to do with your son. I don't have any experience (yet) at parenting a teen, so I was simply saying what my own teen experience had been and thinking fearfully about the years ahead of me. You know your kids better than anyone, so whatever you come up with will be what's best.

Did I miss anyone? I hope not. If I did, it wasn't on purpose. :wave2:

Our hotel experience was quite a calamity, but we made the most of it. It was good to get away for a few hours and just be together.

I'm off to do laundry, if I can find it all. For some reason my MIL folded the clothes the kids were wearing yesterday and the pjs from last night and set them all around the house. Joshua's pj shorts were folded neatly on his pillow, Daniel's shirt was folded neatly on the bathroom counter, etc. Why did we fold the dirty clothes and scatter them about the house? I haven't a clue. :confused3 There are laundry hampers in both boys' rooms... :rolleyes1 Oh, well... we may never know the reasons. They did us a huge favor by babysitting, so you won't hear me complain! *much*
