Sharon and Kstarfish- have a fab trip!!

Barb- when I was reading that story of you are your husband trying to get back through the jellyfish all I could think about what Finding Nemo when Marlin and Dory had to get past the jellyfish!! lol.

i have to ask, what is bebo? :confused3
I'm almost done reading the newest book! I think #4 is my favorite. Which one did you like best?

Hey Sharon. Bebo is like Facebook and Myspace. A network where you can uploads pictures and stuff and talk to your friends. It's great! lol.

My fave book was the 6th. Every time I read it I'm hooked and I can't put it down! Love it.

Why do I always clean the house from top to bottom before I leave for vacation? :confused3 Kinda silly, I don't think the cats care either way as long as they have food!;)
My suitcase is just about packed, but I'm the only one.:headache: DH will pack his 1/2 hour before we leave. Drives me up a wall!

tricia, i would fire that maid you have for not showing up yesterday to clean

I'll at least have to dock her pay.;)

I do the same thing. Don't want to come back to a dirty house!

Hubby & I are the opposite on packing, though. He's the one that will start packing weeks in advance (and think of Jack Nicholson's packing job in As Good As It Gets... he's a psycho packer), but I'm the one that will throw everything in the night before (or the morning of, if we're leaving late enough). I do set things together that I might forget, but other than that I'm not an advanced packer.

I'm trying to clean... really, I am... I'm cleaning the keys on my keyboard right now... :rolleyes1

Okay, I'm going. My MIL is one of those people that not only could you eat off her floor, you could perform major surgery. I don't want to hear about the "state of my house" after they stay here Saturday night.

Hi all-
I can't stay long on the boards. Won't be here for a couple of days.

Thanks to all that replied about my thread :goodvibes
I guess DH and I were deprived as children, as his family never took family vacations, either. So we never had the luck of family owning property or homes in the Orlando or even outside of Orlando area.
I look forward someday to go back to WDW, UO. etc. Not sure when tho.
With Chrissy's astronomical medical bills we had and still have, not sure when we'll go back, when we can afford it. Chrissy was in the hosp her first 4 months of life. Never came home from hosp until she was 4 and half months old. She had the 3 open heart surgeries and the massive systemic bacterial infection- why bills were so astronomical. Been very blessed that she was approved for the Make-A- Wish trip 3 yrs ago! :)
My parents always question DH, I, and the kids why we need a vacation? They don't understand, as they never take vacations. My mom feels house upkeeping is much more important than a silly vacation, according to her.
DH and I are blessed we were able to take the kids to Hershey Park this summer and all the other little things we did this summer. :)

Anyways, wanted to let you all know that DH got a temp job :cool1:  He started his first full day yesterday. The temp agency and the co. seemed very pleased with his work so far. It hopes to be a temp to perm position. I will let you know if the job becomes permanent for him. Might be a few days on that.
He had a phone interview with this co. this past Monday, had hte real interview with them on Tues. Started his first full day yest.
This is a much different co than the other one with the creepy guy that fell thru. Much better company overall! :thumbsup2

OK, I have alot of pencils to sharpen, like 40 of them! Have a back to school picnic later this afternoon, to drop off school supplies, meet the teachers, etc. I have alot to do still! :headache: I am so behind what I need to do!

Whoever is leaving for their trips, have a good time :cool1:

Hi to everyone else :wave2:

Hi Marciemi, I finally found you here on the board! School has started and I now have computer time.

It was great meeting you at Epcot two weeks ago! I never thought I would actually ever meet a fellow diser! But when I saw your crew at MK in matching lime green shirts and crocs, I just knew.
I too want to know how you get your guys to wear matching shirts? I saw you twice and you matched both times. Do you match every day of your trip?
As you saw, my guys wore matching shirts at MK, but ONLY because it was my birthday, and they complained about it the whole time. Geesh!

I was thinking that too ... I couldn't even get Mike to wear one of those rubber bracelets when we went on our Disney Cruise last December. One DISer was nice enough to buy everyone a lime green bracelet, but hubby refused to do even that!

I have one more night of work and then a 4-day weekend. We are meeting up with some former colleagues for a "Meeting of the Minds" as we like to call it tomorrow night. Even though our jobs are relatively secure right now, you never know, and I never miss a chance to keep in touch with folks who know your work ethic. You never know who can help you one day!

Oh, and Barb, the UPS guy showed. Bonus. Seems we have to fax an estimate to them. Hopefully they'll pay the whole dang thing. I would think that's what they have insurance for!

Enjoy your Thursday everyone!

Forgot to say......
Thank you to all that have been praying and giving good wishes for DH's job situation :) Pray that this co. will offer him a permanent job. thanks!

Anyone want to come over and sharpen 40 pencils for school?
Could use the help :rolleyes1

Hey everybody--I'm one of those new ones who keeps asking the same old questions over and over--sorry!:guilty: Guess what? I have another!

Which park is better UO or IOA? Just kidding----;)

Serousily, I can't figure out how to use the search. Every time I search a topic it either takes me to a million disney pages or nothing comes up. I'm interested in resturant hours of operation and which need ressies etc. (Especilly Mamma Dels and Trattoria at PBH)

Anyway, I love reading everyones TR's and daily posts. I would never be able to get my husband and son to wear matching shirts. And if I even mentioned matching Croc's they'd probably boycot the vacation!! Marciemi --you must have trained them well when they were young1:goodvibes

Love the then and now pics--I have looked for mine from way back when but haven't turned any up yet. Maybe I'll get gutsy and try my own trip report when we get back.

Pics are good, TR gets bonus points.

vrooom, vroom - watch those speed traps, they love to catch them yankees.;)

wondering if they ever awarded those prizes - very cool! btw, if you're bored @ the SV; look up my man Alex. Always happy to offer some park tix, breakfast, etc. if you do the tour...jk, run like heck - he's smooth.

Sharon G - least your DH packs his own bag! have fun (luv the avatar)

Rose - glad to hear things are looking up, tell those kids to hop to it, don't think we have a pencil sharpener other than those handheld ones (i buy the non-sharpening ones @ $ store:laughing: )

jodie - good luck negotiating, like the way you equate $ with happyhour

Had the bright idea to buy a cleaning company/client list in my checkered past, guess who got to fill in when the crack-heads didn't show up for work?:rotfl: Don't mind cleaning my own bathroom, someone's else's pigsty is a whole nuther matter - sold it in record time.

Earstou - great to see you here! So you were brave enough to venture over to "the dark side" to say hi?! ;)

Well, it's easier to get folks to wear matching clothes if that's all you pack! I made up laminated index cards for each day before we left, with all the info for each day, including what we were wearing. First 3 days I even prescribed shoes, so everyone got a chance to wear each of the pairs they'd brought, and had crocs on for the days we were doing water rides. On the 4th day, when I told them to wear whatever shoes they wanted, the reaction was like "What? We have to pick out our own shoes?" :rotfl:

Honestly, though, we were staying in a house with a washer/dryer, so we really only brought about 4 outfits and rotated. As people got some different shirts during the trip (t-shirts from the Aqua Seas Tour, a new golf shirt, etc.), we mixed it up a bit, but any day I was meeting DIS/TGM'ers, we were all in lime green!

We did have 2 sets of DIS shirts (one lime green and one grey, although the grey one got REALLY stained with suntan lotion, so we stopped wearing those), and I think that helped me meet more DIS'ers. You're the only one to say hi here though - I had alot of people say hi and that they visited the DIS sometimes or their sister did or whatever or they'd heard of it, but no real "regulars"!

Bubba's mom - no Thing pics because they've never worn them yet. If you think there's ANY chance of DS15 wearing a matching shirt anywhere within a hundred mile radius of any of his friends, you've got to be kidding! Although he's said that MAYBE, possibly, he might wear it for Halloween. Guess that's why I'm not that concerned about the wear on it - he may wear it once in his life! Although DS14 would probably wear his, so it's a bummer it's like that.

My birthday is on August 22nd. :rolleyes1

Thanks Janet...I guess we age gracefully in my family. :teeth:

what a concept! i'm from peasant stock, we earn all our wrinkles and have a heck of a time doing it:banana: :dance3:

very interesting avatar, scary:scared: is it the ringmaster from HHN?

that's who i was thinking of!

Hope to someday, but have never been to HHN (does MNSSHP count lol) - i was a giant Minnie Mouse - now THAT was scary:rotfl:

DS finally cleaned his room & found an old videotape from the Travel Channel that has a program about the haunted houses; plan on watching it soon.

we've very big on halloween at my house, do up the whole front yard complete w/soundtrack from HM cranked up and several fog machines, etc.. will have to post pics.

Okay, I know a bunch of you guys have or have had teens. Can you help give me guidelines on the whole dating (and more specifically making out  ) thing?

As I mentioned, DS15 has a serious girlfriend and they'll have been together 6 months tomorrow (everyone say awww!). Um, I guess my question is, what do you tell them, where do you draw the line, how much supervision do you give, etc.?

Of course he knows the birds and the bees, and that we think hugging and kissing is okay, but that's about it. But it seems like they're doing their best to be as "secretive" as possible. You know - one minute they're in the family room, the next they're up in his room with the door closed. We've said over and over that the door must be open, and they should only be in there for a reason (showing her something on the computer say), not hanging out.

So now they've started "taking walks", which I'm pretty sure means getting away from both of their houses to find somewhere to make out. Last night DS came home in tears from her house. Apparently her dad walked in on them and he had his hand in the back (according to him) of her shirt. Well, he basically said they're not allowed to see one another - period - for a week.

Of course DS is crushed and was up until like 1am crying. Really upset because their anniversary is tomorrow and he was so excited about the gifts he'd gotten her and now she's mad at him too, and they can't celebrate. (Personally, I pointed out that it takes "two to tango", but evidently she gets to blame it all on him). I also don't want to say "told you so", but he knew her parents were even more paranoid than us, so it's his own fault too. He's also upset because he's been away for 2 weeks from her, and now has to be for another week.

So, what is my role in all this? What's okay? Obviously it sounds like he crossed the line (at least in her parents - and now her - opinion). I'll be glad for any tidbits of advice to help me survive this relationship!
