i have many more stories of the sons and their mischief

mac,

You have single handedly made my day - that has to be one of the funniest (now not then) stories of sibling mischief I have ever heard!!! Do tell, how many times has Todd heard that story now that he is grown? Looking forward to hearing some more:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I was busy scrubbing out the toilets so that MIL doesn't stick to the seat if she needs to use the bathroom

I so know that chore.....I watch my 2 nephews 3 days a week so we have Frank (DS - 5), DN 4 and DN 3 who all HAVE to go pee at the same time (once one mentions it, they all have to go) :scared1: :scared1: Most of the time I send them one at a time but every now and then its like "whatever!! just go!!!" Needless to say I don't use the powder room those three days a week, I use the upstairs bathroom. :lmao:

WE MISSED YOU !!

i have many more. i'll post a short one next.

Thanks for all the compliments! I know it's not as detailed as a lot of the trip reports, but it's the best I can do down here with this wonderful connection and trying to type on a laptop keyboard!

Oh, and Tricia - I have a lot of those days! Mine are more like "I haven't strangled any of them today so it must be a good day!"

You're doing a great job of keeping us updated! It's fun to read about everything right away.

Hubby always knows when he comes home and is greeted with, "Do you want to know what YOUR SON did today?" That he better round up the boys and keep them busy for awhile... :rolleyes1

Tricia , hopefully it is just the switch and you will not have to have the window put back on track or some other labor intensive expensive thing:eek:

We'll find out soon. Going to the shop in an hour. Poor old car. Should probably give it a decent burial and be done with it.

damages is on soon.

anyone else into that series on tv?

Generally speaking, if it doesn't involve cartoon or costumed characters, it is too rarely on my tv for me to be into anything. I do insist on SOME grownup tv each day... but for the most part, I'm stuck in kiddie show limbo.

tricia...if your boys got to bed in 1 piece, it was a good day ;)

Absolutely. I'm not kidding. Sometimes when Brad says, "How was your day?" I will reply with, "Both boys are still alive and I didn't make a run for it, so I guess it was a good one..."

What a muggy night....

And to make matters worse, I have a ton of greenfly bites from Sunday that are itching me

Yuck. The one thing I've always hated about visiting my brother in the summer is those creepy green-headed flies that bite. I could never get used to that. In my world, flies are annoying, but they don't BITE.

IM BACK!!!

WELCOME BACK GEMMA! Can't wait to hear how the trip went!

Morning everyone else... and anyone I missed...

Today will be a see-if-we-can-fix-the-car day, plus it looks like I've got to find a way to take Joshua shoe shopping. I sat down to read through the package of papers we got from school yesterday... and there are a ton of them... I joked with Joshua that it didn't seem fair that HE was starting school, but I was getting all the homework... anyway, it turns out that on days where P.E. is scheduled, the kids are REQUIRED to wear sneakers or they won't be allowed to participate. Sigh. I figured he'd be able to get away with his Stride Rite sandals for the first few weeks until the weather started cooling down, but NOOOooooOOOoooo. Doesn't matter that the soles of these shoes have the same traction as tennis shoes would... some lawyer somewhere said, "Has to be a shoe DESIGNED for athletic purposes or else the school is liable for allowing the child to play." SIGH.

I guess I'll have to call my mom and see if we can juggle cars and shopping.

i bought bright red paint so i could paint the shed in the backyard.

i opened the can of paint in the garage, had the can on top of newspapers.
wanted to stir it up and test the paint on a piece of board before i carried the can and brushes to the backyard for the shed painting.

the phone rang and went into the house. boys were ages 2.5, 4 and about 5.5 years old at this time. they were watching cartoons in the family room.

i left the door open to the attached garage when i went to answer the phone.

the phone call turned out to go on for almost 10 minutes.

you can guess what happened can't you?

2 of the boys went into the garage and started painting the garage floor with the red paint.

todd stuck his head in the can of red paint and it covered that kid.
at least he closed his eyes when he stuck his head in that can.

i wasn't too worried as it had no lead in the paint.

but i cried real hard that day.

Between Joshua (DS5) who has... well... the aim of a 5 year old... and Daniel (DS2) who is potty training (with the keep-him-from-falling-in seat on the toilet)... it's not a pretty sight.

I try to contain them to the bathroom that is between their bedrooms, but that doesn't always happen. I still find myself walking into my bathroom sometimes and knowing immediately that it has been invaded by a male of some variety. Does it matter that I've filled the room with Yankee Candles and silk flowers and lotions/creams/moisturizers and makeup... designed to frighten the males aways? Nope. There's still pee on my toilet seat.

Hey all -

Sorry for the lack of recent posts....I have kept up with the reading so I am pretty hip to what's going on around here :thumbsup2

Tricia and Penny - sorry to hear about the auto problems.....I am afraid to take my car in for inspection, although its rather new, i can hear the brakes squeaking and I know what that usually means :rolleyes1

Melissa - what a shame about the points and the post being pulled. Can you pm me the link so I can do it "offsite?"

Marcie - great "live" reports!! You know I cannot WAIT till the pictures come rolling in!!!:yay:

Barb - hi and bye....you are quick girl - blink and I will miss you :rotfl: (any updates for the trip report? :rolleyes1 )

everyone else - Hey there

We have been up to our ears with football practice (4 nights a week), cheerleading (2 nights a week) then the usual housekeeping and the 15 million kids I have here on any given day :headache: Trying to gather all the stuff the kids are going to need for school. They start the 29th. All the while I have been in this funk. Not too sure what it is, just really feeling down and very very tired. Some of it must be the thyroid medicine (yeah, I forget to take it sometimes), some must be PMS (sorry guys!) because "that" has been wacky lately.....but I am just not myself. Enough - no more pity party for me.

Going to see the King Tut Exhibit this weekend. Me, DH and bean#2 she is SO into all of that stuff).

Oh, and I have a September birthday (so does DH), I think I told mac when it was, but in case not, its the 16th and I am going to be 38. My mom is the 1st, her brother is the 5th, her father was the 15th, me on the 16th and dh is the 22nd (his 40th) !! September is a very popular month around here ;)

You should have a conversation with my mom about the time my brother painted one of the neighbor's children with pine green house paint. He used a brush and everything. Mom always ends the story with a line about how she asked Darryl (brother), "Why on earth did you paint that child?" and his response was, "Because he let me."

Hard to argue with that logic.

Both of these get the :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 and the :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Sounds like a conversation in my house on any given day :rolleyes1

my sister, her daughter, and family are going to the King Tut exhibit this weekend in PA. wish I was going! :goodvibes

hauled a king size comforter to the laudromat this early morning. washed and dried and home in an hour, the dry cleaner charged like 22.00 to do it(never again) and i did it for 6.00! :rolleyes1 maybe i will do another next week.....

it is raining here, but a good rain, will take care of the dried out lawn that was crunchy.......

BTW, I voted again this morning. We've got Jennifer in second place now. That Genevieve is going to be tough to beat...

King Tut:cool1: , take pics:thumbsup2 (probably not allowed though - I bought one of those "sneaky" cameras with museum mode, he- he)

Guess Todd has red hair:cool2: , lucky he didn't get his head stuck in the bucket of paint. not that i'd let them know...i'm starting to think i got off easy over the years:rotfl:

Always like how the boys become YOUR SON after they pull a good one;)

Unless it's a private skool, how can they possibly dictate the shoe a child wears??? I understand safety issues (no sandals/flip flops in our district up to jr. high or heelies); for some larger families on a budget it might be cost prohibitive:confused3 . Of course, I'm spoiled - ever since the parochial school closed in our area and DSs transferred over to public; i haven't had to fill a supply list for back to school:banana: our tax $ at work.

Suzy Homemaker question of the day:

while dressed in his new white athletic shorts & airbrushed homer simposon t-shirt from last year's trip to Ocean City; youngest DS managed to get TAR on both:confused: ...how the heck do you clean that mess?

the same way you get red paint off a kid............

keisha, check with the local hardware store and ask them.
i dont think goop would do it for the shirt.

also, google tar removal treatments..

I saw the exhibit when it was in Fort Lauderdale. We really enjoyed it. Give yourself plenty of time, the tags with the info on them are pretty small, so everyone needs to be in single file pretty much in order to read it, or you can use the headsets if available. I thought there would be alot more artifacts from King Tut himself, mostly stuff from around the same time period. Cool things in the gift shop too!
