Greetings...another ROUGH day. I got some TERRIBLE news today at work. My office mate's partner has Advanced Right Heart Failure which means the right chamber of the heart isn't working so the left side has to do all the work which causes fluid to build up. She has gained a lot of fluid in her legs and abdomen and hopefully she will be admitted to the hospital so they take care of that. The doctors have told them there is nothing they can do except give her meds and try to keep her comfortable. There is NO cure for her condition and NO operation they can try. Basically...if she gets really sick with pnemonia or something like that...she will probably not make it through. It's extremely difficult to deal with since they asked us not to say anything to anyone else in the office right now. We are all very close at work and it makes it hard to look at them and not break down but we're trying.

Just keep them in your thoughts please.

Happy Friday!

We had a wicked storm blow through here yesterday afternoon/evening... wind, lightening, hail... but very little rain. How is that possible???

After the storm passed, we are having blessedly cooler temps. I'm taking advantage of the cool snap (high today is only supposed to be mid-80s ) and I have beef stew in the slow cooker. I wouldn't normally be in the mood for stew in July, but since it's not too hot to move I'm going for it.

As for the rest of my day, hmmmm... let's see... there are a couple of bananas on the counter with a few brown spots... so I'm thinking of making banana nut bread.

DS5 is stuck in his Over the Hedge game (Gamecube), so I'll probably devote some time to smacking gophers and rats with him to see if we can get past whatever it is that has him blocked.

Laundry, the never ending cycle, beckons. Time will tell if I'll answer the sirens call.

Either this weekend or next, we will have to take DS5 clothes shopping for school. He also needs a haircut. The boys have their 6 month checkup/cleaning at the dentist on Monday, so I might put off the shopping for another week so that we aren't tackling all these "Do I have to?" episodes right in a row. We'll see...

good Friday morning y'all ....10:30 and I'm still in pajamas! yep! slept in today ...but, i'm awake and ready for the day!

janet.... i forgot to address your question of the weather here....we haven't had rain in a few days! a little at nite here and there, but i judge the amount of rain i get by my front step. (it's cement and falling apart with a hole in the top....the more full of water the hole is, the more rain we got. if only a little water, only a little rain! i know, silly, but i'm cheap and trying to find someone to redo my steps and walkway rather inexpensively! i'd just rather spend that money on vacation!) So, we haven't had the weather you're having....I get more Tracie's weather actually...it' hot and humid here today too..... (I believe you had a "Low" pressure system stuck over top of you out there...but i hear it's slowly moving.... keepin' thoughts your way!)

have to work today and tomorrow morning....dunno what Sunday holds? As i mentioned earlier in the week, we are supposed to watch our great-nephew this weekend (8mths), but i don't know if that will still happen??

sorry wasn't around last nite...went to be early (that's why so tired today!)

Tracie......have fun at the game....it's a shame we stink so bad AND Chase is gone now too there goes all hopes....oh well....at least Janet will be happy her Pirates win!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who uses a slow cooker! Nothing better than to come home from work and dinners almost ready.

Lets see...today's Friday. I don't have to cook DH cooks on Fridays, which means we will be having pizza or going out either way, works for me!

Dinner is in the Crock Pot.

Banana nut bread is made (and a slice already consumed).

I took one load of laundry downstairs and started it in the wash.

I think it's Miller Time. (Not really since I don't drink beer. Yuck.)

I'm probably going to spend some post-kid-bedtime hours on the internet tonight. Still trying to get ourselves a better room in Daytona for the race in February. Availability and prices are ridiculous!

Nobody loses to the Pirates . So glad McClatchey is leaving, everytime we get a good player the are too cheap to fork over the $ to keep them. Many years ago we let Barry Bonds get away.

Middle DS is offically legal today, hope he checks his enthusiasm. From what i gather, the posse is heading to the big city, something about a disco & gentlemen's club. Better keep his nose clean, since he's waiting to get sworn in on new job - as a policeman.

He & youngest DS went to Simpsons, said it was good...just didn't live up to their high expectations. I'm probably going tomorrow.

yep, DS wanted to change his name - his hero. he's a might upset about the whole Michael Vick incident, don't expect that jersey to make it out of the closed for awhile.

Middle DS was shook up about the Chris Benoit business too ; guess it's all part of growing up; sometimes heros fall far & hard.
