Sh*t on a shingle is not chipped beef on toast at our house. My dad brought the recipe home from the Navy where he was stationed at Pearl Harbor. It's ground beef browned, add tomato juice, flour to thicken, and a teaspoon of sugar. Mmmm, good sh*t for breakfast or dinner.
Living in south Texas we would always go to Mexico for Christmas dinner and have cabrito or baby goats .:santa: I always said, "I love kids, if they are properly prepared.":stir:

.
To Serve Man:lmao:

anyone else a Twilight Zone fan (the series, although the ride is top notch in my book too:banana: )?

Sharon - u must be soooo proud of your son (he's not a terrorist-he just plays one @ conference :rotfl2: ). Fancy dancy digs you'll be visiting; however, i'm not so sure how a dead animal head hanging on the BR wall promotes sweet dreams:scared: . Before I forget - have a great time!

mac - couple times a year i indulge my fried bologna sammich craving, good eating! My mom used to make us eat beef tongue, heart & liver (i'm scarred;) ) evidently, whatever the butcher had leftover on Saturday.:rolleyes1 now she refused to eat hotdogs a couple times a year.

penny - they make a big deal when they fly in bushels of smelts to Pittsburgh - never tried them:confused3 ...have reserved the soft-shell crabs though in the past - yummy.

barb - my gang prefers "beef, beef & beef by-products" for breakfast, lunch, dinner & snackie-poos. We go thru 3 - 4 pds of bacon, & a couple pds of sausage every week; shockingly - our cholesterol isn't too bad -yet...wait 'till bubba turns into that tween/teen eating machine.

kfed - give thim all A's

jennifer - post a pic of house when it's done; i still need to get one of my orange LR. Hope the Motel6 is basic & clean (we had a crappy experience our 1st stay @ one in Williamsburg:sad2: )

lori - how'd the big concert go?

jodie - finally got my new luggage/garment bag i ordered from Shoebuy, fantastic deal - hope it holds up for the price. Did get decent reviews :confused3 doesn't look as though it'll hold much; guess i'll just use it for dress shirts & suits & haul the other 2 or 3 monster bags...dh will be sooo happy with me - not.

lots to do today, just not sure where to start - have a good one!

Okay, weird. My dad was in the Navy too. He did his tour during the Korean war and spent time in the South Pacific. When Mom served us chipped beef on toast (which was usually for dinner at our house), Dad would call it Sht on a Shingle. I guess it's like any recipe. Different versions and variations by different people.

We had a little rain last night... and I mean a little. Not even enough to wash the chalk drawings off the driveway.

Anyway, we have serious wind gusts around here today and it is causing our power to flicker. Forgive me for replying to each post individually, but I've tried to do a multiple reply post twice now, only to have the power blip and wipe out everything I've typed. :headache:

Throw this:

banana-cream-pie.jpg

That's too pretty to throw! Looks yummy...

Yep, we have those hot dogs here in Maine, they crunch when you bite into them. yuck.

Hot dogs should NOT crunch. I don't care where you live.

i grew up on that crap.
the best dinners ma made were scrambled eggs and potatoes.

We used to get pork brains and scrambled eggs every so often as a "treat" for breakfast. This is one meal that I have never duplicated on my own. :scared:

I only eat all beef Kosher dogs and I am catholic from New Hampshire!

I only serve Hebrew National or Oscar Mayer now. That's because they are the only gluten-free brands in our area and I never know when I'm going to be feeding MIL. I now know that the "all beef" dogs are MUCH better than the ones with all the fillers and crap.

dammm penny..............the fish sticks were the best thing we had for dinner on fridays....

I intensely dislike fish, but I'll eat the fish sticks because they don't look, smell, or taste anything like fish.

penny must have added me in that prayer of hers as there is no cooking going on T Day at my joint this year.

i made lunch ressies for that day.
dinner will be the drive thru at burger king.

and the only people that will be here that day are the ones that live inside our four walls.

Sounds like a relaxing day. Where are your eating? We've got a few restaurants here that do the Thanksgiving-by-reservation thing, but most of them are closed. BK, McDonalds and Wendys are the only places open all day.

DS is leaving in the morning for a school trip to Montreal. I have to drop him off at the high school at 5:30, hopefully I can crawl back into bed for a few hours. He's really excited. There are 15 kids and two teachers going. They are attending a model U.N. conference at McGill University.
James was assigned to be a step brother of Saddam Hussein for the conference. This guy was the ambassador to the U.N. during the 1990s serving on the human rights committee, and was also managing Saddam's personal finances and covertly purchasing advanced weaponry. Nice guy...not

Two more days until I can be warm again!!! :goodvibes We've been invited over to my cousin's house for dinner on sunday night. They live on the intercoastal in a house that i can only afford in my dreams. Jeez, I can't even afford the boat moored at the dock! Oh-well, its fun to visit anyways! They have taken their two young kids to Africa on safari not once but twice! The older one actually has a head of some kind of deer she shot on her bedroom wall. Scares the crap out of her little friends.
I need to help DS finish packing. Might be back later.

Kudos to your son for taking on such a role! Not shoes I'd want to step into. I hope the weather cooperates for his trip... and for yours. When we were in Ft Lauderdale, Brad took me on the ultra-tourist-trip on the Jungle Queen. Is that the area where your cousin's house is? I couldn't believe all those multi-million dollar houses with multi-million dollar yachts moored in front of them!

Speaking of that, LORI, wherever you are... I saw Jeff Gordon's little weekend getaway place in Ft Lauderdale with his yacht. His yacht is named the 24 Karat.

Okay...so I finish my workout and come back to read 3 pages of "food" talk :confused3

Sorry I can't address everyone personally....but HI to all....have a great day/nite whenever you are reading this....

Gots to go..QT w/ the DH ;)

Catch ya's tomorrow....before I head out shopping! :goodvibes

Nite!

So, how did things go yesterday? Are you still working for the same office? A new one? Oh, and Happy Shopping!

Hello Gang!

I made through all the posts I missed - it's just part of my anal personality.:lmao:

The house is still not put back together yet - the carpet is down and looks nice. We are now trying to get all the furniture back in the room and rearranged. Hopefully, we should be in good shape by Sunday night.:cool1:

I am traveling on business - so I am sitting in my lovely Super 8 room surfing the net. (We are about 2.5 hour drive from home.) I left this morning and will get home Friday evening.

The Super 8 sure isn't like the Hard Rock Hotel!!!!!!

Hope to be able to keep up with you all from now on.

-Jennifer -

OOOoooo a Super 8! :woohoo:

I read all the posts too, even when I can't respond to them all. We can be anal together. :thumbsup2

Hey everyone!

Haven't been around much...very crazy week with report cards and all!

Sorry can't make individual comments and such...

but I hope all is well!!!!

You're excused due to report cards... but we're still waiting on those Halloween pics. Not that I'm pushing or anything. :rolleyes1

morning homies.
2 more work days this week and then the weekend begins.

gotta get ready for work.
see ya when the skool bell rings.......:teacher:

Two days left this week and only two days of school next week, then Joshua gets a LONG weekend!

i still need to get one of my orange LR.

::yes:: popcorn::

Whew! I did it! It only took a few tries, but I was able to do the multiple reply post by doing it half at a time. Do I get bonus points? :confused3

Let's see, I made a ham for dinner last night, so I think I'll go quick soak some navy beans and make soup with the ham bone and leftover meat.

Brad finally broke down and made an appointment to see the doctor this afternoon. I'm going tomorrow morning. Whatever this cold/flu bug is, it just won't GO AWAY! Maybe he'll be able to get something to help. I hope. With me feeling bad, it's hard to be sympathetic when he starts moaning about how bad he feels. :rolleyes1

Hey, I got a chuckle last night ...

Does anyone watch the show Red Eye?

You don't, do you?

No one has heard of it, right?

Well, it's only my favorite show EVER, and last night they read my email on the air! Yeah, Baby! I got a giggle over it, and even more of a giggle from Greg Gutfeld's response. :goodvibes

But none of you have a clue what I'm talking about. So just pat me on the head and think to your big, bad selves that Jodie is a happy camper today.

And, I'm not bragging or anything, but at 7 am this morning, I started my 19-day "weekend."

Woot!

Tricia & MF ... please, how do you expect me to cook this gourmet meal if you 2 can't even agree on a recipe??! Do any take out places make sht on a shingle and if so, do any deliver?!!!

Janet, LMK how the luggage works out for you. Don't forget to put all your hanging clothes in those dry cleaner bags. It really helps, along with travel size bottles of Downy Wrinkle Release! I am so jealous you are going on a cruise! Eat lots and lots for me. Order the extra lobster tail. Don't hold back!

Sharon, how will James imitate a decapitation????? Good luck to your son! I would think it would be challenging yet fun in a sick way to play someone so clearly psychopathic and diabolical.

Jennifer, have to agree with you that a Super 8 is no where close to the HRH! I want to see pics too of your house.

Tracie, start those renos yet? We want to see pics of those too!

Barb was that QT last night Quiet Time or Quality Time?! Hope you had a good night!

Mac, thanks for making my night go so fast last night!

Penny, I didn't know you were a Cardinals fan! Me too!

Red Eye is on FoxNews, right? In the wee hours of the morning? I know of it, but I've never seen it. I put the kids to bed by 9pm. Sometimes I'm in bed by 9:15pm. No, I'm not kidding.

I used to be a night person. I'd prefer to be a night person. My life just won't let me be a night person at the moment.

And if *ahem* hamburger helper is "cooking" in your house, then lets just leave SoS for another lifetime... shall we? It involves whisking. Somebody might get hurt.

Hey, I would like to remind you that I still have to brown up some meat for Hamburger Helper .... :rolleyes1

Seriously, Mike will tell you that the only things I do very well are lasagna, baked ziti, and stuff shells. He even prefers mine to his mom's or his sister's. Whoa!

Yes, Red Eye is on Fox News. I watch it when I work midnights. Where I work, we always have CNN, Fox News, and the Weather Channel up. Except when NBC comes to visit. Then we have to change Fox News to MSNBC. But we change it right back to Fox News once NBC leaves.

I went home for lunch and the wife had 3 packages of hamburger thawing out. What do ya'll think? Meatloaf? SOS?

No, we had that less than a week ago and that is when I asked about SOS. Three packages though has me leaning toward meatloaf since my kids won't eat sht. They feed it to me but don't eat it!:lmao:

Hmm, less than a week ago? That is an eternity in my house where the rotation usually goes HH, pizza, Chinese, Mexican, some form of pasta, hot dogs, hamburgers, repeat, but not necessarily in that order!

Enjoy your meatloaf!

P.S. I've been a total jerk for not asking you this earlier: do you mind if I hold onto your MIB cheat sheet until we get back from our next trip in 2 weeks? We didn't fully utilize it last trip, and I'm begging for more time. If you could arrange for the ride to be stopped with the lights on, that'd help me too!

Thanks, MF!

I was trying to think of a clever response to your probation officer comment on the other thread, but after being up for 22 hours, I think I'm fading too fast!

I was hoping to take a short nap this morning to get me off midnights, but it just didn't happen. Think I'm going to snuggle up with Alex for a bit. Vanessa is snoring under the bed in the guest room. I'm too claustrophobic to snuggle with her right now ...

Hi all-
I think I have about 20 pages to catch up on :scared1:
I only read this page, so if someone can sum up the last 10 to 20 pages, that would be great! :thumbsup2

Let's see... Went to Parent Visitation Day at school this morning. American Education Week at school this week.

Warning, vent ahead.... The boss my DH has at the co. he is working at temporarily is an a**h***!! He won't hire DH permanently because this jerk is looking for DH to have "passion" in his work and this dude doesn't trust anyone! :headache: :headache: DH is coming to work everyday on time(before 9am) and stays til 5:30pm every night. DH asks for extra work to do, at least early on. This jerk has a ton of degrees and does lectures at colleges, etc. So he was doing his lecture speil to DH yest. This guy is a Donald Trump wanna be :headache: ! As this has to do with commercial real estate. Tho DH's job description is staff accountant. The show,"THe Apprentice" is one thing, but in RL, DH is only wanting a permanent job to support his family. This jerk is definitely a Trump wannabe :sad2:
Well, DH updated his resume last nite and put it back on Career Builders.com.
Ok, that's my vent. Thanks for letting me vent :)
The recruiter that DH got this job from isn't helping any :sad2:
Not sure if I'm making sense to anyone.

FIL(DH's father) is supposed to move into a nursing home today, about 40 min away from us. He is the one with dementia/ early alzheimers.
Good news is- we get to have his couch for free! SIL called yest afternoon and asked if we want FIL's couch. We never get anything free, so this is a blessing, the couch I mean!We really needed a new couch. :yay: :cool1:

Jodie- Yes, I watch once in awhile on Fox News! I am a Fox News Channel junkie :thumbsup2 So I know the show you were talking about. I guess I didn't watch that night with your question :guilty: What was your question on the Red Eye show? Did Andrew answer the question or that Greg guy?

Ok I really have to run.

Have a good evening everyone.

i need to get off and wake son up so he can go to sleep tonight again like he did today.....

then off to curves.

skool bell rang..........hooray.
i really don't remember much of today though. i think it was a gud 1.

hey rose, vent all you want.

want one of us to go tping a house for ya?
we're homies.
we can do that.....

Hey everyone. Wow did you guys yak it up while I was absent. And it is mostly about food??? And extremely wierd food at that! Lets just say I am a meat & potatoe kind of girl, and it is normal food!

The concert was absoultely amazing! The Jonas Brothers & Hannah/Miley put on quite a show. You know how I have said that Ally is very spoiled. There are many times that she just doesn't seem to be thankful for what she has. Of course I know she is but you know how kids can be at times. Well I think I had also told you how thankful she was about her birthday at the BBB. You know she about had me in tears! Well last night was another one of those nights. She still hasn't stopped thanking me for taking her to the concert! Oh an our seats were actually great, except for all those stairs! Sure we could have been lower but we had a great view of the stage and could see everything just fine.

We got back home at about 1:30 this morning and I am beat. I will get some pics uploaded and post some later on. They aren't great but I was pleasntly surprised with them.

By the way if anyone was thinking I was nuts for taking my child to Ft Worth to see Hannah Montana you gotta here this. The people that were sitting directly behind us (4 of them, two grown women & two girls 14/15) flew in from Knoxville on Tuesday night & back home today just to see Hannah! Can you imagine what that cost them????

Be back later to post some pics.
