Something About Nothing..........#6

Um, yeah Mac - that's what happened. Actually the extension cords. I was doing the small walk from the drive to the porch and didn't realize one of the extension cords had gotten onto the sidewalk. Kind of hard to see since there were 6 inches of snow on top of it!

Anyways, it took about 2 seconds for the two cords (one extension and one going to the lights) to completely wrap themselves around the bottom of the snowblower (luckily the old, smaller one!). Had to unplug all the lights and turn off the snowblower and turn it upside down and manually unwrap it all. It had gone around about 15 times total in that 2 seconds. And sliced one of the cords in half. I did get it all out and - well, we won't be using that extension cord again! :rotfl: The other cord looked okay (scuffed), but I'm not going to plug it in in the snow! I tried to just pull that batch of lights down, but it's all frozen in.

The snowblower wouldn't work then (of course), but I waited an hour and tried again and it was okay. I'm guessing we got about 6 inches of snow, but it's blowing like crazy. I've shoveled the same 1/3 of the driveway about 5 times and it's still probably another foot deep in places again. And when you shovel, you have to go ALL the way across to the other side (and ours is a 3 car garage/driveway) because if I shovel that way, A - it will all just blow right back in my face, and B - even if I get it on the snowbanks, it'll just eventually come back down with the wind.

The snow is this stupid light, powdery stuff we've been getting all month. That you can't keep on the banks or the shovel. I swear, I'm about to reconnect my water, take a hose out there, and hose down the snowbanks so the snow stays put! Of course then they'd be ice banks and the first time I hit them with my car it wouldn't be pretty!

Hope you're enjoying your foot plus of snow Mac! I've shoveled too many times today. I hereby delegate the rest to my sons and DH who haven't been much help at all! DH claimed it was snowing "too hard" for him to shovel before leaving for work :sad2: and of course the bus was on time today so the younger two had to catch it before having time to help! Matt's gone out twice with me so we'll cut him some slack too!

Well on the plus side  I guess we're pretty much guaranteed a white Christmas, eh?

Afternoon all ...

Kfish - you are VERY brave doing Christmas shopping this close to Christmas. I won't venture out to the malls at this time of year - too many rude, cranky people out there for me. I don't know what it is about Christmas shopping that brings out the worst in a lot of people :confused3

i don't shop until christmas eve.
it makes it all more exciting...

really, i try to do some on the 23rd but usually do it on the 24th each year.
i don't shop in advance.

i don't have little kids to shop for the newest toy out for the year.
when mine were little, i did have to shop on black friday for the deals and to get the hot toy of the year for them.

when they became teens, i waited until christmas eve to shop.

Hello all!!!

WOOO HOOOO! Got to use the Snow Blower!! It finally snowed! (yes, I know how silly we are  ).

Hope everyone is safe and warm. I have to contemplate going out this evening to a Xmas party. But, it's really warm and cozy here....

Best to you all!!
Elyse

OK...let me just say now that I am very sad and totally disgusted with the Caylee Anthony case. I can't even watch the news tonight w/o breaking down and at the same time I get boiling mad when I see pictures of Casey.

Local6 is doing a special on the case at 7pm but I doubt I watch it...I just can't.

There's NO reason an innocent child should end up like this...and the fact that Casey doesn't even seem to care about her daughter makes me want to explode with rage! Lots of local people feel that way.

It's such a tragedy...beyond words.

We (Orlando residents) have grown to love little Caylee and thought all along she was gone but held out hope for her safe return and then today when Dr. G revealed the truth...it just takes it another level...if you know what I mean.

Sorry...rant over. Sorry to bring people down but I had to vent.

Hopefully the person responsible for the death of little Caylee will be dealt with in a harsh way.

That poor little girl .

metro, we don't get the news on the little girl up here on our stations.
i don't always watch the national news, but use the internet for some stories.

has the dna testing been completed yet?
did they determine it was little caylee's body that was found last week?
You said Dr G revealed the truth so i assume the determination has been completed.

casey has major issues.
she can't keep her stories straight.

some women should never give birth.
she is one of them.

i'm betting casey has no interest in it at all.
what i saw on the nancy grace show 2 weeks ago, the parents didn't believe casey was guilty back then. wonder if they are changing their minds now.

i'm off to google it.

i googled msnbc and found a basic report that went on the wire 23 minutes ago. i guess it was too late for the national news as i watched that at 5:30 pm and nothing was mentioned.

it did say no trauma to the bones but not much else on their report.

I didn't see the whole press conference but they did say the meter reader guy found the bones last week. Now they are looking at the Sheriff's Department and why they didn't follow up on leads given by the same guy months ago. Dr. G didn't announce the COD yet.

You're right...Casey has issues and doesn't care about her daughter. The local news showed a huge pile of stuffed animals, flowers and balloons in front of the house as a memorial to little Caylee.

It's just so sad.

Todd ... it makes my blood boil too. We've actually been following the Caylee Anthony case since we saw it on the news when we were down in October. Deep down, I knew that they wouldn't find Caylee alive. :sad2:

Since I started working for Lee, (and especially since he practices family/child protection law) I've learned that a lot of the parents/clients he deals with only care about themselves and their best interests (usually in Lee's cases it's drugs) and unfortunately the children end up being the ones who suffer. Luckily we have a great foster care system here so the kids can be removed from the toxic environment and placed into a more loving home.

Mac - take a look at this video. It explains the DNA results.

... now back to our regularly scheduled programming ...

There is something wrong mentally w/ Casey Anthony... a normal mother just does not do something like that :sad2: My heart goes out to little Caylee....

On a side note...things are a bustlin' here at House of Bubba. Just about ready for Christmas and have some other stuff goin on keepin' busy....

We had about an inch of sleet or so today....mixed w/ rain.... Please just let it snow OR rain...not sleet crap. Tons of phone calls/emails...'are you going to be in work today?' :confused3 Uh...yeah....the last Friday before Christmas...of course I am... :headache:

Off to be w/ DH tonite....busy work day tomorrow....

Enjoy your LAST WEEKEND before Christmas and Hanukkah everyone :wave2:

Ugh, I've had a headache all day long. Not pleasant. But I did watch Wanted, which was really good. I love Angelina Jolie.

It must be Christmas. I almost shot my eye out. How? I'm so glad you asked...

My son got a Spiderman car at his gift exchange at school. Fine. He was thrilled. It comes with these rocket launcher things on the sides. Joshua couldn't figure out how to load the long, plastic, bullet shaped things in the launchers, so he asked me to help. I had trouble, so I picked the car up and stared down the barrel of the rocket launcher while I loaded the hard, plastic, bullet shaped projectile in it. In hindsight, probably not the smartest thing I've ever done. I managed to load and launch the damn thing all in one move. Since I was staring straight into it, I took a direct hit in my left eye with a Spidey Missle.

Ouch.

It was a teachable moment. Joshua learned A) not to point things that shoot at your face and B) a whole new list of bad words that he is not allowed to say.

At first I thought you were going to say something about "A Christmas Story" :confused3

... that's one of my favorite lines from the movie ... :thumbsup2

... glad you're OK though

I can sympathize ... I've had a sinus headache for the past day ... :scared:

Tricia I am so glad you are ok. Is it bad that I am laughing? Not that you shot yourself in the eye of course.

Don't you just hate it when those words that you don't want your kids hearing come out of your mouth and you have to tell them they can not say them?

Howdy all!!

Dave looks like I'm Going back into the nursing field!!:sad1: I really dont want too..

The duck got the axe today-They could of at least printed in pink!!

The duck will swim tho!!

You know...it was a sleet storm that helped me finally make my decision to move here. In March of 2003, my parents were down here on vacation with some friends. I was in Virginia in the middle of a sleet storm at home. Shoveling that stuff is like shoveling sand...NOT easy. I came in to make some soup for lunch and the folks called. They said it was 83 degrees and they were having a beer at the condo and I was killing myself trying to shovel enough sleet away from the car so I could make it to work the next day. That was enough for me and I decided I would not spend another winter in Virginia. So...in the fall of 2003 the house went on the market and I got a contract Christmas weekend. In February 2004, I loaded up the truck and I moved to Beverly...err...Orlando.

Welcome back???? I understand it may not be a good thing for you, but at times, for me I feel very blessed. Yes, I am sad when I can't save someone I know...but I forgot to mention all the people I have helped. Some of them have become wonderful friends (I get Christmas cards from some every year)....So not only the bad things happen in our field, but there can be many good things also....I wish you the best of luck, Donald.....:goodvibes

Just wanted to say hello to everyone from the bathroom of the Crowne Plaza in Cincinnati. Yes, we are at, yet, another tennis tournament and everyone is still asleep. Thank goodness to the world of the wireless internet :surfweb: .

It is getting colder here and we will be here for another night....Hope everyone stays warm!!
