Good morning redheads!

Tossed and turned all night, so I got up at the ungodly hour of 4:30 this morning and discovered my internet is back on!!!!
Gonna be a good day!

Good morning everyone!!!

Well my prayers were answered....we have a SNOW DAY!! And there is not a flake on the ground!

Lucky you! We have a LOT of flakes on the ground and not even a two hour delay! But they're just saying 5 inches now so I guess we just suck it up and deal with it! Just hope Matt's okay driving today - at least it's just to the high school (2 miles away)!

Mac - how goes it in your neck of the woods? Looks like the Fox Valley area (Appleton down to Fond du Lac) got hit the worst. Was it bad down there as well? Hoping at least that we're still just enough north of it to escape the bad storm. Talking to folks back in Detroit though, they're getting up to a foot and all schools are cancelled. I'm guessing that's what went through where you are!

DISCLAIMER: WRAPPING PRESENTS IS DANGEROUS!!! :rotfl:

Okay, the boys have been whining and whining about when we were going to wrap presents and get them under the tree. We usually do say roughly 10 (not-so-exciting) presents from us under the tree for them to open before hand (usually one a day and the rest on Christmas Eve), then they get their "good" presents from Santa on Christmas Day.

Since we're long past the Santa days, I asked if we could just wrap and put all presents under the tree and just save some for Christmas, but Eric stressed out about this idea. So I guess it's tradition.

Anyways, we sorted and wrapped all the presents from "us" last night. Sorting was the hard part since we'd been kind of sticking them on shelves, in the garage, in boxes in the basement, etc. to keep them hidden. I REALLY miss our old house with its walk in attic. So, first of all, as I reached up on a top wooden shelf with my hand to do a quick sweep and make sure there was nothing else up there, I got about a 1/2 inch sliver in my palm. Thus diverting present wrapping for a half hour while using a needle and tweezers to pull it out small pieces at a time (actually 4!). And of course it was in my right hand so I'm using my left hand to do it. Ugh!

Well, then I think between bending over trying to do that (my eyes aren't up to that close work any more! ;) ), lifting things up and down, and trying to sit on the floor and wrap, somehow my back was KILLING me by the time we were done. I don't normally (ever) have trouble with my back. I ended up taking tylenol 3 (w/ codeine) twice during the night while I just lay there trying to find a position to sleep in that wasn't excruciating. It feels a bit better this morning, but I'm not sure how much of that is the codeine, which I took a few hours ago for the second time. And I just KNOW that going out to shovel in a few minutes will really help! :sad2: I'm just hoping it gets better in time to go skiing Sunday since all the girlfriends are already planning on it! Eric has a doctor appt this afternoon anyways, so if it's not getting better by midday, I may ask and see if the doc can squeeze me in too!

On the plus side - at least I don't have to go to work today! :woohoo: Have a great (if not snowy!) Friday!

Hi all-
Snow Day today for the kids!!! No School! Ugh!
I don't know how many inches of snow we got here during the night, but it's been freezing rain as well. Alot of school dists were listed as closed last night, but not ours. Got our friendly call this morning at 5:15am thru the automated dist. line. Also checked our school dist website just to confirm.
The kids are thrilled of course :cool1:

I never got back on here last night, as I was really tired(falling asleep) and waiting for a phone call back from Joe the plumber (which I didn't get a call back). Got to call the plumber again today.

DH maybe working from home today, there was talk yest there was a chance they can convince the bigwigs if they can work from home today and not drive thru this mess, so we will see.

I don't know how much I will be here on the boards today. The 4 of us may be fighting to use the computer.

Hi to all :wave2:

mac - ur spilling the beans:laughing:

tink i'd say i'd willingly share my crown, but that would be a fib & it's way too close to Xmas to risk it:scared:

i was a princess, then got too old so i got promoted;)

did u ever do the game @ MGM where u answer a series of Qs & get assigned ur charactar? no surprise here...im the queen of hearts:rotfl:

anybody else want to confess?

Speaking of which, I called today to try to do some reservations, but since they're switching to the new system they're only available til March, so I have to call back in January. But, and this was totally random, I book Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast on my birthday! The other places I hope to get are

Tues: Le Cellier
Wed: 50's Prime Time Cafe
Th: Boma
Fri: CRT (brfst) not sure what I'll do for dinner yet, maybe just QS
Sat: Grand Floridian Cafe
Sun: Mama Melrose
Mon: Coral Reef

vaguely remember reading this, then it reverts back to the 180 days as i recall:confused:

while all is subjective, i must say that our meal @ MMs 2 years ago was our worst onsite meal ever

weird thing was we complained re numerous items (bowl of congealed spaghetti for jr, burnt through (not blackened) steak & osso bucco that was mystery glob of gristle...server said it was typical & brought us more salad & breadsticks so we wouldn't starve

quite possibly they've improved in the interim, yet one bad meal @ disney is enough to steer me elsewhere as there is so much from which to choose kwim?

have u checked out the recent reviews on the restaurant board

ps luv LeC & coral reef (it's ur BD:banana: call the magic # & ask for the dive banner-way cool, yet very limited; don't wait too long if u want to experience)

marci - we like teppanyaki (cs) in japan too...just not enough food for the guys so they order extra meat;)

You won it fair and square on this board! But I'll have you know I've been called Empress of the Universe at two different jobs.

Thanks for the well wishes, it gives me warm fuzzies.

If you can swing it, run away from Disney, spend a day at Sea World, and eat at The Shark. GREAT food, and lots of cool fish in a giant tank. Big sharks! Or any of the restaurants at the GF are really good. We really love the Brown Derby in MGM for a great dinner or lunch. As others have said, it's a little expensive, but very worth it.

i haven't been to seas since (well, let's just say decades); have heard great things re the shark dining...on the to-do list.

any other decent places to eat there (CS or TS) figure we'll be there 2 days if they still have the next day bounceback tix offer

im baking today, finally, hope to get my 'fancy' (all sorts of stuff in them-drool) choc chip cookies & someother variety done & my cut out dough made for tomorrow

have a great weekend all

Hello all ...

It is SNOWING HERE . And yes my kids are all in school. I am so worried about getting them later as it may turn to Ice and sleet later . YUCK...

Well so much for the talk of Empress and Princess . I have given up on both and I just want to be a Vampire and live in Forks now . ;) Gotta have a Twilight moment .

I can't believe that :santa: makes his visit in less than a week and I have not too much left to do . I am kind of at ease this year as was not the case in years past.

I have to say my Favorite meal in WDW is at Crystal Palace . We eat there every year . My older two have outgrown Pooh and friends but my son loves it and the food is pretty good. We have also eaten in the Castle at Cinderellas's breakfast it was OK . We don't do too many sit down meals so the DDP is not really so great for us .

Ok off to look up some information on my sons Science Project and then off to go get some stuff at Costco I NEED for this weekend .

BBL :surfweb:

first, mail me the cookies......please.....:goodvibes

next, all banners and signs by the divers at coral reef stopped.
there have been threads on the dis boards about it.
a couple were worth reading.

the manager of Coral Reef requested to the disers to stop requesting the banners for their families. so many happy birthdays, and other topics were too much for the restruarant. it came down to it very few people were actually having a birthday at the restruant, just wanted to have it done for their kids.

any hoot, CR requested many times and it was on the thread by them to please stop as everyone wanted a banner.
bottom line, no more banners. a great thing was taken advantage of.

and Empress, i love how tell it like it is.
too close to christmas to fib about sharing your title.....

if i had a horrid experience at disney ts, i give it two more shots before i refuse to go again.

i totally understand what you say about some of those places.

I read their not doing banners this year. :confused3

right. not for this year or any other year.........

for the first time in 12 years, all our schools are closed today.
the snow started sometime in the morning hours as i went to bed at midnight and no sleet or snow at that time.

right now we have 10 inches and it's not stopping anytime soon.
it is possible to get 14 " total today.

the weather.com really screwed up on what is going on in my area.
maybe they are going with mt zion's weather and not my area.
(2 cities with similar names)
when this snow stops, the lake effect snow will start.

sunday another storm will come through but not sure which area it will hit then.
all next week, frigid weather for here. -24 w/ wc predicted.

as long as i can get to burger king next thursday, i don't care what the weather is here.........

Howdy All!!!
This DDP would drive me nuts. How would I know what I want too eat 6months from now!!:confused3

I just remember the last time we stayed. It was at Fort Wilderness(great cabins)but at the Crocketts Tavern and that bill almost made me fall out of my seat..There was 6 of us and we all had pizza soda for the kids and adult drinks and the bill was $120:scared1: Never again!!

Now Biergarten at Epcot was a good deal..Yes I love SOURKRUAT!!

We're leaving in about a week and still haven't made dining reservations (and we need to because of time frame and the gluten thing).

:scared: I just can't wrap my head around planning for food one week in advance let alone 6 months--that's why Universal IMHO is better than Disney. You can have a great time w/great food w/o all the stress.

how much is some?...........:rolleyes1

our area could be looking at 8 to 14 ".
about 50 miles south of chicago the tv announcers are stating if you don' t have a generator, go buy one. the ice storm south of the city will be a bad one and they expect power to go out.

some of the schools nearby us have already cancelled school for tomorrow.
the schools in my town still plan to open.
75% tp 80% of all the hs students take the bus to school.

they only close if the busses don't start
if it is only a big snow storm, they school does a 2 hour delay and then starts......

i haven't looked at the weather website yet so don't know how much you will be hit by.

And I was irritated by the deluge of rain outside right now--pouring buckets--but now that I see your problem, I will not be complaining!

Kids had their last day before break. Both kids had to be driven to school because there just "isn't room on the bus for our instruments." So up to the high school at 7 am then back up and load DS's cello and ice skates and stop at CVS because he NEEDS a Santa hat.
His school sold $75,000 of Sarris candy so they were treated to ice skating or arcade playing

Why does he need a Santa hat? They rescheduled the most wonderful concert that I have ever attended to tonight at 5:30 p.m. Our lovely principal doesn't pay attention to anyone but himself and the music teachers told him last week that they couldn't reschedule to this week because of personal committments, but he has wood for brains and doesn't listen.

Wonder how many will be able to make it by 5:30pm

Gotta go. I invited the grandparents up for supper after the show and just remembered that its DH's birthday tomorrow so I'm going to go make him a cobbler and gotta make gf pizza to take up to my son for between the concert. Pizza was being provided for the rest of the kids so I didn't want him "wasting away".:)

Good afternoon homies
Hope everyone is doing good cause this is the only time I can get on cause DS's are taking over on he pc and how funny is that since my laptop went down due to a virus :scared1: till that point they never wanted to get online.

Afternoon all ...

Snow days are unheard of up here - It's very rare that schools (or work) are closed for any reason other than professional development days for the teachers. Snow is just a way of life up here and we deal with it ...

Kfish - you are VERY brave doing Christmas shopping this close to Christmas. I won't venture out to the malls at this time of year - too many rude, cranky people out there for me. I don't know what it is about Christmas shopping that brings out the worst in a lot of people :confused3

I ran into Macy's this morning and the sales were incredible. I bought around $600 worth of men's clothes for $125--I just hope it all fits--and since I am the type who has already shown my kids everything they're getting (I can't stand the suspense:laughing: ) I'll probably let my DH try on all the stuff for him.

$80 shirts for $10. Some of them I got for $8. It's great to be a last minute shopper! Great deals.:woohoo:
