We are at the weekend! So I'm finally taking steps towards my wedding and going dress shopping tomorrow.

Guess I have to go and buy some Vaseline!

Don't I know it! I could have put up that privacy fence I've been wanting...or a new roof. But down here, we usually wait for a hurricane to blow off the roof so we can get a new one. No sense spending good money if a hurricane is going to take your roof off...ya know?

welcome home! how long did the drive take? how many speed traps did u see in beckley

It rained from the time we left Wheeling until about Virginia and people were still traveling like idiots. My temp gauge said it was 36 degrees so the co-pilot kept telling me to go slower than usual. Then for some unknown reason there was a bottle neck and it took us about 1 hr. to go 50 miles. We never could see why. So going down about 16 hrs.

coming back even with stopping at this great mexican restaurant called El Chico in Columbia it took us about 16 1/2 hrs. of time.

My girlfriend was visiting her mom in Mt Dora and didn't leave Orlando until about 5pm on New Year's day--she got stuck leaving due to an accident. Then they stopped to visit her in-laws overnight in Georgia and got stuck on the interstate because of accidents due to ice on bridges. They were delayed by an hour because they ended up taking all of these backroads--she thinks she would still be down there if they had stayed on the interstate.

I know what you mean about the police, (We used to live about 2 hrs south of there in the Appalachian Mtns of Virginia so we were up and down that area every month)but we didn't see any police stopping anyone until we got to South Carolina.

We don't speed on vacations so we don't worry about the police. Now, getting my daughter to her high school, that's a different story.

My brother flew out of Pitt with one of his sons a few days before Christmas and flew into Ft Myers for $139 round trip. I'm wondering if that would be the way to go next time. And either rent a car to the hotel or pay for a taxi--might be worth looking into. I just got off the phone with my daughter's ballet teacher who is also in Fl right now and she paid about the same to fly into Ft Myers round trip.

Just got back from Universal just now we started the year off right by buying annual passes today then headed off to Orlando.It was very crowded tonight but we have all year now to beat the crowds.Everyone have a great New Year

DS 7 keeps saying he wishes it would snow here. I keep telling him I grew up in snow, and they can keep it where they've got it!


Packing, packing, need to buy jeans for DH who thinks he doesn't need anymore until after vacation. HAH!!!!!!!!!!! He has no sense about clothes.


I have no functioning brain cells left, so I'm off to the land of Nod.

Hello all wanted to stop in say Hi and give a report on our busy Friday . Took the kids into the City ..( NYC ) and well it was a pretty good day .

We started at the Museum of Natural History ..We have membership so it was a good cheap start. After closing we went to the Tree at Rockerfella(SP) Center and then went to the stores on 5th ave. ( Coach , LV , Juicey ,ETC ) did go to the Disney store as well as the Huge Toys R US in times square. Good day and lots of fun.

Hey everyone!

Hope this finds you and yours well! I've been MIA, but I've spent hours and hours and hours working on my trip report from last spring. Yes, I am a slacker and the first step is admitting it.

Sooo much has happened in the past months I won't begin to catch you up, but we are looking forward to a new year and right now we are planning a 9 day camping/riding trip for our "big" vacation for 2009.

No big vacay plans for the next couple years because dh wants to get a new, bigger hauler and a couple of new 4 wheelers, so that cancels out any serious travel. After that, we are looking at Las Vegas, or Orlando. We are on the fence. The kids really want to see Las Vegas, but they also loved and loved Orlando, so we will see.

Oh, we are going to be grandparents for the second time (sheesh. . .we are only 40 here). A baby girl is due to be born mid-April. Our grandson is 20 months old now, and man is he busy!! Some of you may remember that beautiful picture Damo posted for me when he was born (that was before I knew anything around here).

Enough for now. Dh says I can't spend the entire day in front of this computer again, so I need to finish up a few things on my trip report before he physically removes me from this chair.
