Good evening everyone. Another lazy day for me. Well, mostly lazy. I did do some laundry and went to Hobby Lobby for some supplies. I seem to be there at least once a week. Later I napped while dh watched football.

I am sitting here and looking out the window at SNOW!!!!
Just seems to early for snow. We didn’t get any last year, so I wonder if we will get some this year.

Charade: Your cross stitch is absolutely beautiful! I used to do cross stitch when I was in my 20's and made 4 pieces of the Nativity scenes that are 8 by 10. It took me a while, but I get them out every Christmas. It is a relaxing and rewarding hobby
Thank you. I would love to see pictures of your nativity.

That`s really good Charade, very detailed too.

Yes, I love it, think it`s my new favourite coat!!!

Have a nap, why not.....
Thank you. I did get a little nap in yesterday morning.

I'm making Biscoff, Nutella and mocha truffles right now.
That sounds really good.

However, I’m absolutely all in on this new FL event. :rotfl:

That’s hilarious.

Forgot to mention

DS manages dept of 50 people

15 out this am with verified Covid

2 came up positive via mandatory testing @ work

:headache:

Did see several accounts on FB of people testing positive after doing HHN.

This is seriously getting so old:bitelip:
Sadly it seems like it is here to stay. I just hope we have a mild cold/flu/covid season.

I saw the podiatrist on Tuesday. I will have to continue to wear fracture boot for another 3 weeks. Not what I was wanting to hear, but oh well.
Sorry to hear that. Wishing better news for your next visit.

Back when I was a little girl my mom would occasionally make those small frozen Swanson chicken or beef pot pies and I did not like them.
Ugh! I remember those. They were awful.

think the time change is next Sunday not this Sunday.
So not looking forward to that.

Sometime this weekend I need to pick up some Halloween candy. We don’t have many children in our neighborhood, so I will probably get full size bars.

Past years we get parents by the car load that drop their kids off in our hoa and wait in their cars down the street for them.

We only have one family in our block that have young kids but their parents don’t participate in halloween

This year we don’t plan to open the door.

This year we don’t plan to open the door.
We’ve had years like that. We’ve gotten to know some of the families with kids in our neighborhood, so this year we decided to participate. Thankfully we are not one of those neighborhoods where people outside the neighborhood take their kids.

We get about a hundred kids each year other than 2020.
The neighborhood is single entry and mostly cul-de-sacs so we alzo have people park at the frontand walk the kids around. We have a couple people put up anti Halloween signs but over half decorate and give out candy. It ends up a giant block party. A lot of parents dress up too.
We can't have candy in the house til the day before or it dwindles rapidly😂

❤️.
love your above post for your halloween plans!

lol....sounds like a plan!! I may need a stiff drink after I get home from the dentist on Tuesday night!

We will be putting our trees up very early this year so we don`t have to do them when we come home on Dec 4th. Our house guests are happy the decorations will all be done!! 🎄

lol....FloridaMan was very funny wasn`t it!!

Full size bars are very popular for sure!! A nap is always nice to do, once winter hits us I may try to fit a few in.

This year we don’t plan to open the door.

Our village does get busy as many folks go round the houses, but we have quite a few older villagers who don`t like it and some of course just don`t take part, it`s not a huge thing over here. We do have one house where the lady goes all out for it, skeletons, spears with heads on, tombstones all that kind of thing and it looks fantastic, everyone drives down that lane to see it.

I`ll help Monday night, that`s my donation to Halloween this year.

Very sad to wake up to the news Matthew Perry has passed away. I don`t know anyone who doesn`t know almost every episode of Friends. Such a shame and only 54.

And it did rain all night and it is still bouncing down this morning and doesn`t seem to be going to stop anytime soon. We did think of going out for a few bits today, but don`t think we`ll bother and have a day in.

I have some ironing to do, might have a sort out of my bedroom drawers and cabinets, might have some items for the charity store afterwards. But, most of the day will be baking. I`m not very good at doing designs on cakes, if I tried a Minion cup cake it would be more suited for HHN!!! Very scary, so I`ll do the more simple and traditional stuff and leave the designs for those that can do it. Tomorrow I have a list of goodies to buy for the party, shared out between 5 or 6 of us it`s not a huge amount to buy, but there will be plenty for the kids.

Simple breakfast of toast with preserves this morning, lunch will be open turkey sandwich with some coleslaw and I have a chicken that will slow cook all day today, then make some chicken broth for soup, I think I`ll be using that after Tuesday!!

Even with that extra hours sleep last night, feel as though I could go back to bed this morning, but I need to get baking. And Mexican Grand Prix tonight, will be watching that one.

Have a lovely Sunday 😊

Foggy here but beautiful temps.
Have a lovely lazy Sunday y'all.
Taking donuts and left over truffles to church, watch some F1 and likely a nap with DW and the pooches before dinner.
Next weekend we're in IOA Saturday and USO Sunday.
Cowfish dinner for sure, possibly Mythos for lunch.

Sad, so young for Matthew Perry.

Ooh heater went on, but not sure why. It’s still warm, and rain chances twice today. But weather corrected, as high is 64 today. Happily, it’s 56 degrees out now. Rainy weather keeping that warmer weather. Close to 70 on Monday, then that real weather correction begins the rest of the week. Poor trick or treaters will be on a 52 degree high, which will be more like mid 40’s in the early evening. And ack, 40’s and low 50’s the high temps predicted the rest of this week ending month, and start of another.

Ah quiet, DH got up early, but that’s because he was to bed hours before me. Hence, told him to go watch that other screen in our den, and I promptly went back to sleep almost the same amount of hours he slept earlier last evening.

Alarm on, and trash to curb by early evening.

Ooh phone just flashed me light rain to fall in the next 15 minutes. Eh, I won’t be out to feel it. Visiting sister today. Made some sugar cookies, so will bring some for her.

And weekend ending Sunday is here. And wow, while not a lazy day for any of us, voting is next Tuesday. Time is flying by. But yay, decided to start the next month where every Friday is a lazy one. The last one, a Black Friday one, and I start the next month after that with a lazy Friday, a fun day Friday, then a week days’ routine before enjoying holiday time to end the month of December. Woot! Shorter week day routines time of year, with one fun week, and one totally lazy week in the next 8 weeks. Woot!

And Junkie, have park fun next weekend. No foggy here, but some rain we have. Naps are always a good afternoon way to spend it.

Thus, a wish for all, super Serene Sunday for today. And hoping no snow for Pumpkin and Sue.

Tea. Ooh so nice this morning. Quiet. Yes it is. Ahhhh. So enjoy lazy Sundays.

Fell asleep at 1 am, awaken at 2 am by my pooch on top of my head. That was a first. Decidedly, he’s not a fan of lightening.

Turkey sliced down for later, carcass simmering away for broth. Two sick kids, soup is mandatory. Jr was told to just work from home this week. He’s symptomatic, mild, thankfully. That’s what happens when you mandate that employees use PTO when they call off work. :rolleyes1 . Most don’t want to give up vacation plans they have in place, etc.

did finally get to see the ‘lil at her annual gig. The makeup gal they hired this year is ‘da bomb.

We love the Feast of the 7 fishes, I fish, lobster and spearfish commercially part time and the local area is home to a huge fleet of fish and shrimp boats. Zupa de pesche on ceviche are regular meals too.
What, no baccalà? Lol

I’ve segued over to the types we enjoy, do work in the traditional dishes. I tend to also work Norwegian fish dishes into our melting pot of a buffet.
We used to say that about our friend E that passed away in 2016, she could hear the cork pop!!! Gosh can`t almost believe at times she`s been gone over 6 years now.
Wow, that long. She sounded like such an amazing soul
I did do the crescent roll dough instead of the pizza crust dough for the skull pizza trial and it worked out great. I also tweaked the stuffing in the pizza. So these will be on the menu too for Halloween party.
Another wow, that looks professional! Awesome
The explanation was that it was an old family tradition from German ancestors, apparently, LOL. I still make it but am not a fan.
The mr is of German stock. He won’t touch pork (other than bacon & hot dogs), let alone kraut
Janet has convinced me I haven`t tried a good one yet.....she might be right, she usually is
It must be oven roasted with a cheap pork roast, preferably butt with lots of fat for a minimum of 6 hours or until it turns nearly brown :).

I still remember trying to swallow kraut my MiL made, canned with brown sugar tossed on top lol

i do regret that I don’t have a barrel of kraut in my basement as most of my paternal relatives did.
Insidious
a nominee for lethal jump scares. reminds me, i need to see the most recent one.
Sadly it seems like it is here to stay. I just hope we have a mild cold/flu/covid season.
Were you able to schedule your vaxxs?

This year we don’t plan to open the door.
Right of passage here. no kids on their own, parents all along except for the older tweens/teens

most start conversations with us, sharing that they drive to our street from towns miles away. They meander about exploring. We get a kick out of it It could be we enjoy it more than the kids:p

Generally, they are toting a wagon full of their kids’ loot and cooler of beer, that they always do offer to share lol & thank us.

Combo of the decorations and treats in this area I guess that draws them in. Sad to discover that many communities no longer offer the event...either nothing or trunk or treat in the afternoons.

I buy for 300, theory is if that runs out, it’s time to call the night. We got close last year. This, it will be cold, hopefully no rain. Otherwise the treats will be calling to me for weeks afterwards.

only thing that semi-creeps me out is how lots take so many videos and pictures. I’m going to cover up our house number plaques this year, you never know
I don`t know anyone who doesn`t know almost every episode of Friends
Um

don’t hate me

i’ve never sat thru a full episode:duck:. More of a two & half men & big bang theory sort.

Happy Football Sunday!!!

Makes me happy anyway, and my Vikings are actually winning a few games:) Who said miracles don't happen, LOL.

Charade: I would love to post the photos of my Nativity cross stitch projects, but I can't figure out how to download them from my iphone..... I know that's really sad, but I will have to have my grandkids or my son show me how to do it!!! They took me a long time to do them. They are now framed and brought out every Christmas.

Schumigirl: Yes it is sad about Matthew Perry. I loved a romantic movie he was in with Selma (SP?) Hyak??? I am murdering that name, sorry. It was based around Las Vegas and was really funny/romantic.
Going to the dentist for anything is not fun, whenever it is. I hope all goes well and am sure the new implant with be a big improvement for you.

We live on a country road with a few houses spread out. We used to have our grandkids and the neighbors grandkids for Halloween; that's it. Now both sets of grandkids are too old for Trick or Treating. I do miss seeing the little ones all dressed up:) I don't know how it is in the UK, but around here more and more parents are taking their kids to one main area for trick or treating. Our one major sports venue is having a big trick or treat event, as are other businesses in our area. I think the days of kids going all over door to door are about over around here.

I just made roast beef and home made noodles yesterday. That recipe makes a lot of noodles. I gave some to Mom and sent some to my grandson. I think maybe soft noodles will be good for his stomach problems, so I sent several days worth. There's still enough left for another 2 nights for us. I love left overs!!!!

Back to watching the Vikings playing the Packers. We are ahead 10 to 0, for now.

lol.....second one today to tell me they never watched Friends.....and I`ve known her over 35 years!!! Yes, I love two and a half men and BB too. Just found Charlie on some obscure channel through our subscription channels, for some reason they stopped showing it on most places they used to....I can only guess why! You`re forgiven, and you`ve convinced me we`ll give the House of Usher a try again, I`m curious about the second episode!!!!

GD looks fabulous!!! I`m always so impressed by her Janet, she is a very talented young lady!

We enjoyed the food in Norway, very fish based naturally and everything was beautiful. I always said between Sweden and Norway I`d go back to Norway for the food.

I will try kraut again one day....just not sure when.....lol

Yes the Insidious movies are excellent and we did enjoy the latest one, although anything with Patrick Wilson in works for me!! I still think The Conjuring is my favourite "recent" scary movie.

That is a little creepy having your home filmed like that, folks should know boundaries.

Yes, she was an amazing woman and friend, we do miss her but not a day goes by we don`t mention her in some way or another.

Enjoy that turkey!!!

ruth

And now 3 for no Friends.......lol.....

Fools Rush In with Salma Hayek, that was quite a funny movie, haven`t watched it in years.

We don`t get kids due to our location too Ruth, I do miss it a little, where we used to live we had some neighbours and the ones that had kids came for Halloween. Kyle however, never wanted to dress up or go out.....lol.....

They still do door to door here too. It is popular, just not huge the way it is in America. Our village/church hall is ideal for this type of thing and many places around the country do the same, but door to door is more common. Next week is a bigger event in the UK than Halloween....November 5th is Guy Fawkes Night/Bonfire Night......an event I loathe with a passion. Fireworks go off everywhere for weeks not just on the night. And every year there are accidents as people don`t know just how much damage a tiny amount of explosive can do. Tom and I both worked in the Explosives industry and one one of my degrees is Explosive Ordnance and it completely terrifies me to see folks handle them so casually. Yes, I am the party pooper

Food sounds lovely, hope your grandson sees improvement.

I won`t get the actual tooth till the implant part has attached itself to the bone which takes a few months, but I do have the temp one to cover the gap thank goodness. I`ll be glad when Tuesday is over and know that`s the first part done. I think I may be a little grumpy Tuesday night when the numb wears off......lol.......

Enjoy your football!!!

Spent most of the day baking and watching the rain fall. I do love how this day feels much longer after the clocks go back, but getting dark before 4pm is not the worst thing about winter, I find it quite cosy, especially when we`re in the kitchen.....Tom`s usually on the sofas as I rumble around doing what I`m doing, he does do a lot of tidying up after me though which is nice.

Chicken was beautiful, made a white wine and cream sauce to go with it, sneaked in a little mustard as we love that in almost everything, made garlic and rosemary parmentier potatoes and roasted some veg. Lovely. May have enjoyed a little of the baking with a pot of tea afterwards, well we have to sample!!! Will get all the baking dropped off at the hall tomorrow morning, the others will do the same then a couple of us are going to buy a load of candy and parents are donating too I`ve been told.

An hour till the Grand Prix, that`ll pass our evening, hope it`s a decent race.

Everything baked is cold now, so will get it packaged up ready to be dropped off in the morning.

Friend saw this on something or other online and sent it to me.....I like it!!! The Undertaker was my favourite wrestler when we used to watch that back in the day, when it was called WWF. Saw them twice in Glasgow, they were so good.

Rightfully so! Let Tom baby you

Turns out I have eye exam tomorrow afternoon. Good thing the office sent a reminder

Ruth good to hear another is out of loop on friends jargon. Steelers WB knocked out of game, we are circling the drain. Wah.

Beat those Commanders down the road from us. Good thing they beat them, given not a pretty looking game. I don’t always watch football games. But sister had it on this afternoon, so mostly heard it more than watched. Was good to see her. And the deer bouncing into the woods from her backyard as we left. All I saw was puffy whites tails. Said she saw one jump over her fenced in area, and drink from her birdbath earlier in the morning.

Trash at curb, ready for the Monday blues to come. And the much cooler weather.

Keisha, hope kids are feeling better soon. GD looks great for Halloween. Odd, and thankful, never saw pictures or video used by trick or treating families. Flashlights, yes. I’m hoping the cold and chance of rain doesn’t stop them.

Ooh little asked if we ate at sister’s, otherwise what’s for dinner. We did eat there, and brought home leftover for her. She ate that and now I feel like snacking. Hmm. Tea and maybe some cookies. Did leave some for us to enjoy.

And me too, did not watch Friends either. Guess I’m number 5.

Buckle in lol

Yep, he says he`s going to nursemaid me lol.....I don`t think I`ll need much nursing, but he`ll enjoy doing it.....

Good luck with the eye exam!!

add 4 to that list that has not watched Friends

4 people. I know 4 friends now who don`t watch Friends....... 😉

Bedtime here......:goodvibes

I blinked and it was Sunday night! Good thing I took a day off tomorrow and am using some of my vacation days.

I ended up going into the homecare job yesterday. Went to sit down after getting up with my morning coffee and muffin and seen that there was a shift available. So I picked it up. I got in a little bit later than we normally do, and it took a little bit to get things sorted, but it was a chaotic day. Lots of people calling off sick. There is a nasty something going around. And yes - that "C" word is making a rise again. One of our seniors homes is on outbreak right now. Which makes staffing a HUGE issue. No mixing different homes or community shifts.

Dh is out of town tonight. He and a few other owners were invited by a supplier to go to the hockey game tonight - Edmonton Vs Calgary at the outdoor rink. He's been sending me tons of pictures and it looks like he's having a great time.

I did the grocery shopping today - I remembered why we always go earlier in the morning. Ugh...luckily the lines were not bad when I was in them for checkout. After I went through I seen the lines starting lol.

I whipped up some salsa today with the tomatoes my mom gave to me. I'm just waiting for it to cool so we can taste what didn't fit into jars to can/seal. I combined my mom's recipe and ones I found online. I guess we will see. But I definitely liked freezing them first. As they thaw - they release all the extra water and the peels just fall off. If it works - next year I will grow some of these tomatoes from seed - as they are a great meaty tomato. Don't ask me what variety it is - I have ZERO clue.

Tomorrow I want to whip up my pasta sauce that I have in my freezer from my own tomatoes.

15 out this am with verified Covid

2 came up positive via mandatory testing @ work
It is on the rise again. It is going to be just like colds/flues for the years to come.
I will have to continue to wear fracture boot for another 3 weeks. Not what I was wanting to hear, but oh well.
As much as that sucks - if it's healing correctly - that's all the counts.
We can't have candy in the house til the day before or it dwindles rapidly😂
I have to hide ours - dh has a huge sweet tooth. I buy some candy to give out - and some just for dh and our boys.
Even with that extra hours sleep last night, feel as though I could go back to bed this morning, but I need to get baking. And Mexican Grand Prix tonight, will be watching that one.

The makeup gal they hired this year is ‘da bomb.
That is incredible!!!!!!!!!!!
don’t hate me
gasp.gif

It is not everyone's cup of tea.

I love Friends and still laugh while watching and repeating all the lines as well. We are also Big Bang Theory family too.

Don't hate me - I've never and won't watch " game of thrones" not my cup of tea! I'm sure there are other shows I've never seen.

It is incredibly sad that Matthew Perry passed away. His book is amazing - if anyone like autobiographies.
I`ll be glad when Tuesday is over and know that`s the first part done. I think I may be a little grumpy Tuesday night when the numb wears off......lol.......
It is a long process - but it will be worth it in the end.

Well, I should get going. That salsa must almost be ready to test!

Have a great evening everyone!
