Something About Nothing............ #14

Pumpkin… chinese food, yum as it’s my favorite!

Mr Mac and I decided since we don’t have family near us, will keep our tradition of going to a Chinese buffet for Thanksgiving.

Will go at the noon hour and will be able to avoid the large crowds.

We absolutely pig out at those buffets.

I don’t eat my weight at them as one plate of a bit of this and that fills me up.

He, on the other hand, will eat like it’s his last meal on earth.

He always tells me to take my large purse…..

Disney seniors…. will leave the lights on for you until you come back.

All will wish the best for you!

You have things going on in your life and take all the time you need.

We are a family here and all understand you need some alone time.

(But if you are not back by Christmas, will be sending a lot of cats your way and they will drive you nuts ….if cats are not your thing.)

You take care of you as long as needed.

Thanks for the light Mac. Pre dawn commute I did.

Must have had a little rain in the wee hours, as got to my car, and some very large raindrops were still on my windshield. Quick enough commute, and last 2 times, a car beat me to my favorite parking spot. Guess not in today, as yay, got that favorite parking spot.

And so, thank goodness, we are now on that mid week day, that who do I see?

IMG_3713.jpeg

Hehe, yes, camel is back to wish all a very happy Hump Day, as get over this hump of a day feeling one, most fabulous Friday feeling then a day away.

And woot! Tomorrow marks the day, a week later, Thanksgiving is next Thursday. Wow, November has flown by so fast.

And even nicer, 57 degrees as I looked at our thermometer outside our front door. That stormy weather, giving snow to the Midwest and parts of the Northeast, glad that white winter weather is staying with Pumpkin. Ack, Pumpkin, you get that dump of snow award. Will try to send ya that warmer weather push we are getting today.

And finally we see some rain coming. Ah yes, rain chances today, and the next two days. And a much cooler feeling rainy Friday for us. 40 degrees the high. When today, 65 degrees the high. Ah, time of year, we start to see more and more cooler days. But at least our 10 day forecast shows rain chance Thanksgiving day, but a high temp of 57. No need for that heavier winter jacket next Thursday. Hope it’s that warm or warmer.

Ah also time of year, I like to take three day weekends. Hehe, and next month, bonus long weekend trip, followed by bonus two day trip, before Christmas bonus long weekend. So like December for holiday fun we end up doing.

But, now wishing all that Wonderful Wednesday today. Good morning everyone.

Tea. Refill time. ::yes::

Finally getting around to stopping by :wave2:

Had a busy day yesterday and a somewhat quiet weekend.

We watching the fight on Friday night. We called dd and family to come over and we ordered chinese food. We are definitely enjoying having them be able to come over whenever.

We cleaned a few corners in the basement and made room for some new furniture down there for him. All he needs is a little beer fridge (which I'm thinking will be his birthday present) and he will have a nice little set up down there.

Other than that - the weekend was more of a lazy weekend.

Yesterday at work - it was a busy day. I'm training a new casual who works upstairs in systemic - so that if I'm sick, she will be able to easily we called in to cover. It was a good training day - with all the weird one off things happenings that happened yesterday.

Woke up to full on snow this morning  The snow has arrived in full force and won't be going away anytime soon. Must have had at least 6 inches fall overnight, and it's still falling. The forecast is that it won't stop until tomorrow sometime, and the temps will be below our average. I'm dreaming of warmer places and temps!

It was an interesting match up. Neither one wanted to go full force on one another. I was hoping that Tyson would get least one good punch in to give him a jolt - but Tyson was also at a disadvantage as Jake had a much longer arm reach.

I never thought of it that way :scratchin If they weren't meant to be picked - they weren't.

 I'm glad to see you're back. Your sister is lucky you have a good support system to navigate a hard road to travel.

I hope he takes the time he needs to process all of that new information. It sounds like it's extremely complicated.

 Sending you many tight hugs.

It is great to hear you dh is coming home already! I hope they find out more for your daughter-in-law.

Yikes!!!! Sounds like our weather. Our patients who are travelling are saying how cold and strong the winds are today. It's not nice outside today.

Well, I start this while drinking my tea before starting any work. That didn't last long before things and people started coming to my desk. It's almost lunchtime.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!

Thank you, we`re on the phone to each other a lot right now till we get back up next week, but yes, they have a very good bunch of family and friends around to help out.

Beer fridges are always well received gifts!!!!

I think you`ve sent your weather to us, it is very Siberia like right now!!

Pumpkin… chinese food, yum as it’s my favorite!

He, on the other hand, will eat like it’s his last meal on earth.

He always tells me to take my large purse…..

We love Chinese food too mac, that and Thai are our favourite options for dining out aside from the traditional English pub that do home cooked food!! Then there`s Indian.....oh, so many choices!!

We got snow last night, I was on the phone to my sister for about two hours, when I came off the phone looked out the window and yep, winter wonderland!!

Same this morning, but not enough to cause any issues but it is absolutely baltic out there!! Headed out to go to my dentist appointment, another stage forward in the implant process, next appt is the impressions then should get final implant fitted before Christmas.

Had ice cream for lunch then creamy mash and cauliflower for dinner with maybe some soft roast beef in gravy to go with it, I should be fine for tonight but will make it easy to eat anyway.

Will not be going out this afternoon anywhere, it`s far too cold, so plenty of tea will be enjoyed for sure with some treats I think for us, cosy movie afternoon I think!!

Tea coming up and have a lovely Wednesday :)

Prayers🙏🙏🙏 for everyone in need.

NE FL has ended our 6 month hurricane/inferno season and started our 6 month fall. There are a few actual winter days possible.
Rain from remnants of TS Sara went through today.

Trying to wangle a few days free to see as many parks in full Christmas mode as possible. We're listing this house soon and along with holiday work overload don't really have much time.
A few friends were onboard with APs and are planning an Epic trip together.

We just had 4 hours of intermittent power outages due to high winds and…

Tornados in the area. Seriously??? It’s November.

Lynne - how’s the mr doing? Did i read earlier you have multiple weekend Dec trips planned? Sounds like a ton of fun.

I need to start packing for ours, still mulling over adding a day on either end to get to do U parks for a day or two, since we really didn’t get to do anything but 2 nights of HHN last one as I got sick. I do love the parade and the grinch show.

AdrenalineJ - you are putting your house up sale? That’s a bold move over the holidays. Do you have another on your radar already?

I have plenty to spare
Same
I did not grow up around extended family.
I couldn’t get away from them, most us lived in a 1 square mile area lol. The others, a bit more far flung, 3 miles away. Couldn’t go out of the house without tripping over them.
But, for now a little normality in day to day stuff.
A very good thing after all you’ve been through
His family is starting to get very complicated.
To say the least!
I hope to be feeling like posting again soon. Thanks.
understand completely. Take care of yourself and post when you can.
Snow gritters
I like the sound of that. For some reason read it as grifters initially lol. I assume what we call the road crew
Goodness that is complicated! I wonder how many of us would be in a similar situation if we went searching!
1st thing I did when I set up our DNA tests/reports was to deselect notifications from “family” lol
I have a pedicure once a month. I call that my “Happy Feet Day”
Lol like the penguins! That is so funny
LOL……have you ever seen what some people wear to the grocery stores
One nice thing about the colder weather, at least most of their bits are covered.
Good news hubby is coming home tomorrow. I heard from the Case-manager just al little while ago. He is ready. I’am looking forward to having him back home.
Wonderful news! You must be over the moon :)
it`s like drinking a Terry`s Chocolate Orange,
Yum. I’ve checked every store I’ve entered for the last month or so, not a single Terry’s Orange to be found wah! I love them. Going to start scouring the drug stores we rarely frequent.
Going to spend the morning putting ribbon through a load of Christmas baubles so they can go straight on the trees when we put them up, so many need it replaced so in Orlando I bought some appropriately colured fine ribbon for each tree and matching baubles.
That sounds much better than the green wire ones I used for some ornaments this year. Know I have a big spool of red ribbon I use, where is the million $ answer lol
Must have had at least 6 inches fall overnight, and it's still falling
I just got a chill, yuck
I was hoping that Tyson would get least one good punch in to give him a jolt - but Tyson was also at a disadvantage as Jake had a much longer arm reach.
That was his ace in the hole. Unfortunately, that knee issue really slowed him down, just couldn’t get in there close enough to land his killer punch
Will go at the noon hour and will be able to avoid the large crowds.
Gives you time to finish watching the morning parades!

The two NFL games are going to be Netflix that day. Going to interesting to see if the streams get as overloaded as they did with the Tyson fight, don’t think so.
damn… another issue in my system which brings up a repeat of what already was poster.
It was so nice, you said it twice :)
Beer fridges are always well received gifts!!!!
Especially, if they have a case of beer included.

House is in a very desirable neighborhood and school district. Prices go up every month. We've put it off as long as we could.
We're going to RV and buy a smaller home base closer to Orlando.

Quick post before bedtime. Nothing much going on here. I am still watching flight prices for March. I discovered that we could fly out of Reagan and then back into Roanoke fairly cheaply (it’s actually cheaper than a round trip out of Roanoke) but it would involve a one hour layover in LaGuardia. I don’t think that’s a good idea. I’m going to wait until I see Black Friday pricing before I book our flights.

Hello Everyone:

I just wanted to post to let you all know that I will be away from the SANs for a while, due to a loved ones illness. I just dont'feel like posting at this time but will check in at times to read your posts, which I enjoy. I hope to be feeling like posting again soon. Thanks.
We understand. Prayers for the situation.

I don`t understand folks who won`t put the heating on till December, just because!!!
Nope. Heat goes on once the inside temperature drops below a certain number. Right now we are in the phase where we often need heat in the morning but air in the afternoon.

Good news hubby is coming home tomorrow.
Awesome news.

Having an orange flavoured hot chocolate tonight for us, it`s like drinking a Terry`s Chocolate Orange, it`s maybe a little sweet but nice now and again.
Sounds wonderful. I love a chocolate orange. Wish we could buy them year round.

Woke up to full on snow this morning
Yikes! Our local weather person had predicted up to 7 inches this season. He predicted a lot more last year and we didn’t get any.

That’s crazy. Praying for no damage.

Too early to go to sleep so I will see if there is anything on TV.

Keisha, sadly, but I think status quo for DH, as long as he lives, no driving, and needing to be watched over whenever he is moving.

No real rain to speak of, though after a peak of sunshine, we had an overcast sky.

Thankful to only have to commute one more day this week, until the only one commute day to be happily needed next week.

Can’t believe how late in the evening it is. Going to finish my tea, and get ready for bedtime soon.

Light on, for all in this darkness of the evening.

Prayers🙏🙏🙏 for everyone in need.

Good luck with the house move, sounds like it`ll sell quickly. Over here very few places come up for sale before Christmas, but come January you`re tripping over homes for sale!!

Tornados in the area. Seriously??? It’s November.

Tornadoes, heck......

Oh I think you have to add at least one night at UOR since you missed a fair bit last trip, the parade and Grinch are certainly worth it for those alone!!

lol....I hear the word grifters I think of Harry and Megs now! In Scotland they started naming snow gritters with seasonal funny names like Darth Spreader, Grit me baby one more time, Penelope Gritstop, You`re a blizzard, Harry and I could go on, some are very clever.

I`m never sure whether I want to do the full DNA or not, happy with the knowledge I have mostly German/Nordic heritage. A cousin of mine once saw a lady in Finland who they said was my image, mannerisms too, they did a double take at first thinking it was me, couldn`t get a decent picture though without being arrested lol. But it does make you think.

Chocolate Oranges are available here all year round, some of the varieties are only available at Christmas but regular ones are always around, let me know if you want some and we`ll pack you off some!!!

Janet the baubles look amazing with the ribbon instead of those green wire things or in the case of some of mine, some silver thread  I`m glad I took the time to do it, trees go up very end of November this year so I should have them all done by then. The purple ones especially look good. lol...yes good luck finding the ribbon!!! I had to search where Tom had put them when we came back from Orlando, he said I had moved them!!!! Er, no. I did however find it quite theraputic and who doesn`t love peeling glue off your hands like school days haha

He doesn`t play golf.....yet!! I think he may take it up when he has some spare time though, not sure it`s energetic enough for him though, maybe when he`s older.

Did you get your tree up?

Too early to go to sleep so I will see if there is anything on TV.

I thought these folks were joking when they said they didn`t put the heating on till "X date" but they weren`t kidding. We have a fairly warm house in general but even so, it does need heat on and I`m definitely a lizard so our home is always cosy.

So you can`t get chocolate oranges all year round either? One of the Strong Water staff loves the dark ones so we take her over a few every trip, she loves them, the dark ones aren`t for me but I do like the original, white and there`s another I forget right now.

No hard frost this morning, but bliddy cold!! Winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves and boots have all been well used already this year and November isn`t over yet. Definitely not lizard weather.

Boring old grocery shopping today, I should have ordered an online delivery, I use that for large and heavy items and things like household cleaning products, never for fruit, veg or meat products, we get them from individual sellers but it`s ideal in winter to save going out. I do need food bags and tinfoil, went to the place we store extra stuff and there were none.

Roast salmon for dinner tonight, will need to get some lemons when we go to the farm store, I wish I had a lemon tree as we go through a lot of those in cooking and drinks too.

Mouth feels fine this morning so I feel like having a bacon sandwich this morning, might pop it on a large croissant instead, stodgy food time of year now and of course lots and lots of tea!!!! 😏

Have a lovely Thursday :)

We had pre-booked our car, knew what insurances we needed/wanted. The gentleman gave us a free upgrade. It was a Genisus crossover type car. It was comfy - but dh said it drove horrible. There must have been something wrong with part of the drive train.
Sadly you really have to watch the rental car situation down in Florida. When I picked up my rental SUV in September all the tires were either under-inflated or over-inflated. I rectified the situation. There are just not watching things closely enough on those cars.

Thank you Robbie, it was the most terrible shock for us all. We go back up next week for the cremation, dreading that one.
Such a sad time indeed. I’am sure she is so thankful to have your love and support. Will continue to keep your sister and her family and you all in my prayers.

I haven`t read back through the posts I missed but hope your husband is doing well, he has been in hospital and now in rehab and your daughter in law has been in an accident!! All good wishes for both of them, what a double worry for you.

Glad to hear your husband is coming home and extra good thoughts for you DiL`s MRI, they do need to find the cause of that.

Sounds like a lovely day yesterday, it is so much fun getting together like that doing jobs, it`s so lovely having your family around you!!
I was able to bring hubby home Tuesday afternoon. He is glad to be home and I’am glad to have him home.

We are waiting to hear how daughter in law MRI went. Praying things will heal and no surgery will be needed

Mr Mac and I decided since we don’t have family near us, will keep our tradition of going to a Chinese buffet for Thanksgiving.
Sound like a plan Mac. No cooking on Thanksgiving is not bad. No clean up after.

Chinese food sounds good.

One nice thing about the colder weather, at least most of their bits are covered.
LOL…..You hope they are.

sadly, but I think status quo for DH, as long as he lives, no driving, and needing to be watched over whenever he is moving.
Sorry to hear that. When things like that happen a new normal sets in and then you all move forward as best as you can. Sending lots of mummy dust and prayers for you all.

drenaline’junkie good luck on the sale of your home.

Well the winds have reached our area too. It is going to be windy and cold here today. High today. Will only be 43.

Carole the heat is on here too. Can’t do without a warm house when the weather changes to cold.

I did get in my office yesterday and actually got some work done. Did get a few Christmas presents wrapped. Always feels good to be a little ahead of the game.

I did get my AP renewed. I was asked if I wanted to purchase a one day ticket to EPIC which is only available to AP holders now. Others will have to buy a package to get the one day admission. I just don’t know what day I would want to do a visit. Was told May is pretty well gone. Was told to try and figure that out before the packages went on sale to none AP holders as days would be limited after that.

Little J is coming over to spend the day today. I have missed my little buddy. Looking forward to seeing him. I’am going to make pancakes for breakfast as I know he and hubby like those. Then we will play games and read and do whatever else he wants to do.

I think we might go to the store and look for a Turkey for Thanksgiving. Will see how the day goes. He does like to go bye bye in the SUV.

Going to get scooting. I heard hubby up and little J will be here soon.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone.

It finally happened. I have heard that there are people who think Disney and Universal are the same, but never actually met one until this week. A client asked me how was Disney and I told her that I had gone to Universal. She said, “Aren’t they the same company?” I guess it didn’t help that my boss told everyone that I had gone to Disney.

Speaking of theme parks - I decided to order us some water bottle holders to use in the parks. These can be worn crossbody style and have a pocket for your phone. Dh and B will get theirs for Christmas.

Keisha, sadly, but I think status quo for DH, as long as he lives, no driving, and needing to be watched over whenever he is moving.
I am so sorry to hear this. Prayers for your family.

I googled it and supposedly they are available year round, but I only recall seeing them at Christmas. I like the regular and dark chocolate. Dh gets the white chocolate.

I did get my AP renewed. I was asked if I wanted to purchase a one day ticket to EPIC which is only available to AP holders now.
I need to do that soon. Mine expires on December 18. I am hoping they will do an Epic Universe soft opening for AP holders.

I can’t stop yawning so I am going to try to take a nap. I have my craft group this evening.

Too early to go to sleep so I will see if there is anything on TV.
Between Jax and Orlando. West of 95 to reduce hurricane chances. We're 5 miles from the beach now and on creek off the intracoastal waterway.

Quick Thirsty Thursday stop in! - I started this at work this morning. It's now 10:45 pm...and I just added another piece onto our trip report.

Busyish day at work.

Weather is downright cold. We are well below seasonal lows even for a daytime temperature. It's big winter coat time - not just the nice light winter coat. It's currently -25C or -13F :sad2: :cold: Forecasting another snowfall to hit again late tomorrow into early Saturday morning.

Dh's aunt passed away. So he is heading out of town Saturday afternoon with his sister and dad for the funeral. They will be drive back Tuesday. Typical for us. It ALWAYS seems like we are heading back to our hometown in some sort of winter storm for a funeral :sad1: She had been in poor health since spring, but had been recovering really well lately - so the family was caught off guard a bit. She passed away in her sleep. A person can't ask for a better way to pass away.

I'm waiting to hear how much fun dd had tonight. She and son-in-law are in Toronto for Taylor S tonight. I'm hoping she had a FANTSTIC time, and can't wait to hear all her tales.

Well, I should go. Morning always comes fast.

I'll leave a night light on for the early risers or those who can't sleep.

Sweet sleep everyone!

Good Thursday morning everyone :wave2:

Sound like a plan Mac. No cooking on Thanksgiving is not bad. No clean up after.

Chinese food sounds good.

LOL…..You hope they are.

I did get in my office yesterday and actually get some work done.

Thank you for the good wishes Robbie, it is very much appreciated, this has been such a shock to us all, he was the last person you would expect to pass.

Continued good wishes for your daughter in law and glad to hear your husband is home, he`ll thrive under your care I am sure!!! And a comfort for you too being able to watch and care for him too.

I think everyone seems to be cold right now, yes, we won`t be cold at home. I did notice in one grocery store we popped into had no heating on and staff were freezing, they said they can`t afford to run it all day. Crazy, they must be keeping it within the law, but it`s pushing it I think as we were in and out without buying anything, I only went in to pick up some boxed tissues, so didn`t need to hang around.

Have a lovely weekend Robbie.

I am so sorry to hear this. Prayers for your family.

I googled it and supposedly they are available year round, but I only recall seeing them at Christmas. I like the regular and dark chocolate. Dh gets the white chocolate.

I need to do that soon. Mine expires on December 18. I am hoping they will do an Epic Universe soft opening for AP holders.

I can’t stop yawning so I am going to try to take a nap. I have my craft group this evening.

I am constantly amazed at how little folks know when they arrive in Orlando and yes not knowing the differences between Disney and Universal seems to be more common than one would think!!

I love the white chocolate one the most, weirdly, haven`t seen that one this year yet, will need to find it somewhere.

Sorry about your husband`s aunt passing, yes, going in one`s sleep has got to be one of the better options to pass. Sad when you think someone is improving then they go like that.

I agree, we always seem to be travelling to funerals in the depths of winter. It was November too when my dad passed so we had to drive up in poor weather, but you do it.

Nowhere near as cold as you thank goodness, but it is baltic here for us, very unusual so early in the season to have it so cold. We have ice under the trees that don`t see much sun this time of year that`s been there since Monday! But the wind is what really hurts when it arrives while it`s so cold!! You`ll know about that wind!

We slept late this morning, it was so dark, I didn`t know if it was 3am or later, pitch black and it was just before 7. Turned over to go back to sleep, nowhere to rush to this morning which is always nice, lazy hazy mornings are the best.

Just had some melon and strawberries this morning as we have rare roast beef and croissants for lunch which is filling, so a light breakfast was perfect. Plenty of tea of course and mid morning pot of tea too.

Got some more Christmas decorations for the trees ribboned up instead of the old metal hangers or threads, they do look much better and it is quite nice doing something a little crafty. One of our friends appeared just after 10 and she joined me at the kitchen table and helped a little, she is so messy with glue!!! Invited her for lunch but she is picking her

So, we`re thinking of putting the actual trees up this Sunday but not decorate them till next weekend when we come back from Scotland, saves a bit of time, but we are going over to Kyle`s tomorrow and he`s coming over here on Sunday for dinner and the Grand Prix, albeit recorded as it is on at 6am! Not getting up for that. If we can find the time to put the indoor trees up we will.

Chicken breasts stuffed with cranberry sauce and brie tonight for dinner, will make a creamy leek sauce too, they go well together and little parmentier potatoes too, food sorted for the day!!

Sun is streaming here, but so cold out there, we`ll stay put inside where it`s warm and cosy for today I think!

Happy Friday 😁

TGIF :cheer2:

Slow day today at work. Myself and my trainee are playing around and not doing much of anything. Which is a nice break from things.

The forecast still hasn't changed and we are under a snowfall warning :rolleyes2. And it's still icky cold.

Not sure what I am going to whip up for dinner yet tonight. I may stop at Costco (if the parking lot is not too crazy) and pick up an easy to cook meal. If not it may be take out. I'm out of ideas for tonight.

Well, off to dream and check out some potential vacation spots.

Happy Saturday. Sunny but cooler here today. It’s supposed to drop into the 40s next week.

Spent most of yesterday doing laundry and running errands. I took a cross stitch picture to Hobby Lobby to have it framed, but the framer had called in sick. There was another woman there who got really mad because she had driven over an hour to get there. She stated that HL had lost a customer. Um….maybe call before driving that far. I’m going to try again this afternoon. I’ll call first even though I live only a few minutes away.

Dh's aunt passed away. So he is heading out of town Saturday afternoon with his sister and dad for the funeral.
I am sorry to hear that. Hope the weather isn’t too bad for the funeral.

I love the look of ribbon on the ornaments. My problem is that I never can seem to find the ribbon I purchased the previous year. One day I will probably find it all.
We need to start getting our Christmas stuff out. I want to buy some new lawn decorations.

I do not envy you. No snow in our forecast. I wonder if we will get any this season.

Today is the last home football game of the season. I need to start getting ready for the pregame “tailgate”. I think it will be cool enough today I can wear my new boots.
