Something About Nothing............ #14

Hubby was cleared by Cardiology for surgery so we are waiting to hear from the surgeons office on possible dates.
I'm glad he was cleared for his back surgery and hope it's soon. It's no fun being in pain.
I had a wonderful day with little J on Friday it was his actual birthday he turned 5,
Congratulations to little J. I bet he had a wonderful day that he will remember with his Grandma:)
I miss build a bear, it’s been some time since I’ve “helped”
I love Build a Bear. When the grandsons were little, we took them to BAB in the Mall of America in Minneapolis. One grandson built a bear, but the other one had to be different, LOL, and bult a monkey!!! He has always followed his own path.
Awoke to the email from VA asking to make our meal selections for our flight next week,,…..nothing like reminding you we
Oh no one week already. I'm sure you are enjoying this week to it's fullest. Beautiful picture from your room of the setting sun. Can't wait to see that in November.
Good news- the kids have accepted an offer on their home. They had multiple offers
That's great news and I hope they get the house that they have found.
I brought my suitcase up and have started adding some items
Yes, I tend to add and remove things as the date gets nearer. I always overpack, but just can't help it. Roger doesn't say a thing, just shakes his head.
One of the club lounge ladies asked to see our pictures of an empty Splash Mountain line, no one else there and we rode it again and again without getting off! Fabulous times before the September crowds started!
Oh, that would be great to see an empty Splash Mountain. I can't believe disney got rid of that iconic and much loved attraction for Tiana. I think they could have kept it and done Tiana in another area. They have plenty of land.
People always wonder why I don't like fall and detest winter. This morning is a prime example of why. I woke up to a
I know what you mean Pumpkin. We are now in the 30 and 40's overnight with 60's and 50's for highs right now, but that could dip without notice and then the dreaded S word, which I won't say yet!
Kyle said he was running 22 miles on Sunday as part of marathon training and said it was 38F!
OMGosh, Carole, Kyle is amazing to be able to run all those races and he seems to be placing higher too!
my goodness the heat soon built up nicely.
LOL, I know how much you love heat. Robin and her hubby are on a hiking trip to several state parks in the West now. She said it was 96 today. They went on a long hike up a mountain and are worn out. She wondered if she should have started walking and preparing before a week before their trip, LOL!!!! too late then:)
Kyle said he was running 22 miles on Sunday as part of marathon training and said it was 38F!
OOPS, I already did this one.............no excuses.
For giggles, I tried new scrub brush
I had to laugh at that one. I am looking for one to replace the spinning one I have to be able to reach the shower walls. It's a Hurricane Spinning brush that I've seen on Amazon. It is really amazing and makes life easier. I guess I am excited over a cleaning brush too, LOL.
If I let him pack himself would bring a couple shirts & shorts
That's what I always say about my husband packing his own things. He would take 2 pairs of undies and a few shirts. Soooo, I have always packed for him.
I suggest he roll up a pile of dollar bills and stuff the piggie Ala a cork
That's a good one.

Oh Good Grief: I think I just deleted the other quotes that I wanted to acknowledge. I just moved my finger and, whoosh, it was all gone. Clumsy fingers strike again!

I guess I will just finish up saying that I know I have been absent from the SANs this past week. Lots of things going on which take time. Nothing really important, just time consuming, and I get lazy at times too:)

Our trees are finally turning, about half of them right now. We haven't had much rain this past summer, so the colors aren't so vibrant as usual. Our reds look like they have been faded out to a dull reddish/brown. We have been busy keeping up with leaf removal. So far, we have had one trip to the dumping area for those leaves, and that's just the beginning. I have always loved all our trees but they are constant work in the fall removing the leaves. We make many trips to the dump all fall.

Pumpkin, you should be on your way or there already for the start of your trip:) We are counting down to November the 2nd. I love traveling this time of year and we usually do that in October or November, even first week of December. I like the weather and the fall decorations going into Christmas season:)

Robo: I see your husband's surgery is this Wednesday (next week). I hope all goes well and he gets some relief from all that back pain. My husband had back surgery several years ago and got complete relief from the pain, even right after surgery. He insisted on walking down the hall when the nurse came in to get him to stand up and walk in the bedroom. He did a long walk down the hall without pain. It was so rewarding to see him walk without pain.
They do amazing things with back surgery now.

I know I missed someone and I apologize as I can't scroll back through all the posts again at this time.
So a shout out to Charade, Mac, Lynne, and DJ!

Now back to yard work. We are having Chinese take out this evening, which I love. I am having pineapple chicken, brown fried rice, and egg rolls, and Roger is having the Chicken with mushrooms, rice, and egg rolls. Love Chinese food:)

Have a good week everyone.

the the last flight tonight comes in tonight - as that is the one we take out bright and early tomorrow morning

am crossing my fingers as many of the crowd calendars were saying that it will be lower crowds. We also have 5 days of universal park days

Hubby had his preop appointment with the Surgeon on Tuesday. He had some test done and all came out good. His surgery is planned for early Wednesday morning next week
Hi Everyone - It seems I missed some days of checking out the SANs. It's fun to catch up and read everyone's posts, so it's time to get started with mine:

The Mr ate his first stuffed banana peppers yesterday. The dark spots are toasted basil leaves. Yum. Everything but meat came from the garden, including marinara. Mr picky who doesn't eat red sauce, now a convert!

getting ready to give pooch a bath, then do some serious packing

Friday night lights rivalry game tonight

Mac - treat yourself. u need both a new phone & an iPad (with lots of storage & a keyboard case). That pecking away on phone to type is for the birds

Carole sounds like you might need 2 bags lol. Enjoy the special event!

Oh, that had to be a sight. Surprising piggie didn't fare worse

Good lucks to them!

110%. So many out there over-priced, lip stick on a pig sort

should be flying the friendly skies by now!

Yes, sounds jam packed. You can sleep when back home lol. We just miss you

Absolutely

Um, file it under what was she thinking!

It's difficult to take the scope of it in. Pack mules? Hundreds still missing in NC? Unthinkable

Prayers for a speedy recovery for him! Is it out patient?

I'm trying not to think about my own that I pushed out for several months, scheduled a couple days after we get back on 22nd.

Looks lovely Janet!! And glad the mister is a convert!

I think after the parks tomorrow it might just be a quick visit to Walmart for another case! Oh dear……and I still try to claim I’m not a shopper!

Sadly couldn’t find an outfit for the wedding, but plan B is in place!

Thanks looking forward to tonight!

All sorted for your travels?

Hi Everyone - It seems I missed some days of checking out the SANs. It's fun to catch up and read everyone's posts, so it's time to get started with mine:

Ruth, heading out the door soon, but I’ll post the empty SM ride line pics on the TR later. It was quite something back then in September….no one there!

Glad you’re ok, don’t do too much yard work and enjoy that food!

Will get back to you on the email, several of them are glitching. I think only Janet on here has been getting them, several to my friend D have been returned claiming recipient was unsafe and a threat! Once I get back home it all goes back to normal!

Have a lovely weekend Ruth!

Quiet day here, caught up with a lot of folks, some we said goodbye to till next trip, some moving to Helios and some moving away altogether. But always good to catch up with friends.

Special event tonight, not a late evening but should be fun.

Happy Friday!

I have 3 of that sort, made life interesting. Youngest liked Franklin (counts by twos & ties his shoes) tv series when very young, made a turtle who had every baseball accessory imaginable lol

We are having Chinese take out this evening, which I love.
That sounds good. Steak hoagies for most here, I just smushed uo
A stuffed pepper, added the provolone & it served me nicely in a hoagie bun. I'm stuffed

Where's the fun in that? Panic moment when I saw the res I had in place for a full size SUV booked thru car rental savers had doubled on thrifty's website.

Haven't used them before, insist it was a misquote they couldn't honor. Have been searching high & low since for a non gouged rate. Living on the edge lol

Good Saturday everyone :wave2:

Lazy morning here, meeting some folks for lunch, not sure where yet, and want to catch some folks this morning too if we can.

Some last minute shopping this afternoon……
Sounds like a nice way to spend the day.

The Mr ate his first stuffed banana peppers yesterday. The dark spots are toasted basil leaves. Yum. Everything but meat came from the garden, including marinara. Mr picky who doesn't eat red sauce, now a convert!
Looks good.

Thank you Janet. He will be inpatient.

I'm trying not to think about my own that I pushed out for several months, scheduled a couple days after we get back on 22nd.
Good luck to you on your procedure. Good to getaway and enjoy a little vacation to keep your mind off it.

He has been dealing with his back pain for a while.

Congratulations to little J. I bet he had a wonderful day that he will remember with his Grandma:)
He had a blast. He is such a sweet little fella so fun to watch. He is my great-Nephew. His grandma is my younger sister K.

Our trees are beginning to turn here too. Our trash company used to haul away as many bags as we put out, but last year they said they would only take as many bags as would fit in trash bins the rest have to go to the dump now.

It is wonderful to hear your husband had complete relief after his back surgery. We are optimistic this will be the case for my hubby. He will be in a back brace for a while, but the surgeon feels the surgery will alleviate his pain. One of his vertebrae has shifted forward and is on his nerves.

Haven't used them before, insist it was a misquote they couldn't honor. Have been searching high & low since for a non gouged rate. Living on the edge lol
Good luck on getting a SUV with in your price range.

Thought I would share this on car rentals. Make sure to check the tire pressure on all your rentals. The rental agencies are just not that trustworthy on checking the tires. You can do this pretty much on all vehicles just by checking the information on the dashboard and flipping through the functions.

The Suv I rented just recently had one under-inflated tire and one over-inflated tire on the the same side of the vehicle. I took care of it as soon as I got to my house in Florida. I checked it with a hand held tire gauge and also on my tire compressor and corrected the problem.

This is not my first rodeo on tire issues with rental vehicles.

Thanks, currently focusing on prospect of "Milton" possibly throwing a cat into our plans

Family bailed on us, they've never been thru a FL storm.

This will be #4 for us. Kindle fully loaded & will bring some 'real' books along & a deck of cards.

We will be on that early flight Monday, come heck or high water :rolleyes1

Hi Everyone - It seems I missed some days of checking out the SANs. It's fun to catch up and read everyone's posts, so it's time to get started with mine:

I checked when Carole said they were not seeing much of the storm during Helene in Orlando.
Orlando is over a foot down on the year for rain and two hours away in Jax we are over a foot up. 2 feet of rain difference in a little over 100 miles. Crazy.

Prayers for everyone in Milton's path. We're in the cone but the eye will likely be a bit South of us. Never put the generator or portable ac back up after Helene so we're prepared.

Yep, the difference was night and day from where we are to you. Apart from today where it is coming down a treat, we’ve barely seen a drop of rain here.

Hotels are waiting to hear if they are having staff ride out in the hotel, decisions will be made tomorrow I’m told. Plenty are ready to volunteer.

This doesn’t look good right now for anyone, I agree, praying it is not as bad as predicted, but hopefully everyone is prepared.

Sitting in MCO Hyatt enjoying a bottle of wine watching the weather, looks awful out there.

Flight still seems good, we’ve taken off in tropical storms before so hopefully we’ll make it out before it gets worse!

Another hour or so before we have dinner up here.

1000006681.jpg

Just waiting for the guys while they ride this! We too are waiting to hear about our hotel. We are crossing our fingers and taking it day by day

We have accomplished a lot in the last 2 days. We have ridden almost every ride. The boys and dh are having a blast!

Like I said, we are taking it day by day. Crossing our fingers we only loose our MK day, and can go after the storm has passed. But again...just a wait and see.

Just wanted to stop in and say "Hi" and hope everyone is doing great!

Safe travels tomorrow Janet….hope you have a wonderful trip, plenty of cocktails too!!! :wave2:
I couldn't bear to see the sad look on my DS face when he came to grab the pooch at dinner. He never asks me for anything

Took many hours of negotiations with travel providers, and my wallet a bit more pinched by what appears to be supply & demand/rebookers out in force...

Trip shorter but salvaged. Leave Saturday-WDW/AKVJ as on original schedule.

Following Thursday, onto U where we can hopefully use at least 2 of our HHN tix

Need to verify how they will handle that, last storm could use rest of haunt season.
Never put the generator or portable ac back up after Helene so we're prepared
Smart move, stay safe!
Like I said, we are taking it day by day. Crossing our fingers we only loose our MK day, and can go after the storm has passed. But again...just a wait and see.
Good luck & have fun. You have the right attitude. This will be an adventure all will remember

Weather for Orlando today and also for tomorrow don’t look great.

Hope those that are there now can get a few park days in and not stuck in the hotel rooms.

It’s happened to me a few times and it’s definitely not the way I thought it would be.

I’ve been very lucky that the rain we had was brief.
South of me had quite a bit of rain for more than a few days.

I really enjoy going to the parks in the heat and not during rain days.

Have had my share of trips wearing ponchos due to weather and always dreaded when that happened.

I like sunshine and lollipops weather and not stuck in a hotel room.

Having an easy stay in the house day after I came back home after church today.

I am out of food now and will be at Publix in the morning.
Cats snub their nose at any cat food that is not to their liking

Yes they are spoiled and snub their food at times if it’s food they don’t like.

I try to tell them if they stick up their nose for the food in the bowl, they will see that same cat food still in their bowl for days….

Hello everyone. I am back home after a nice weekend in Georgia. It was good to see my brother and SIL again. I had a quiet weekend hanging out at their house while dh went to an academic conference.

My brother told me an interesting story. Our mother had told him that a family member said that they had seen a dove at both mom’s stepfather’s and mom’s mother’s funerals. He told this to his wife while they were driving to SC for mom’s funeral. Then her told her that he doubted he would see a dove at mom’s funeral. They
Checked in to their hotel and discovered that soap in their room was a small bar of Dove soap. He kept the little bar ann now has it on a shelf in his house.

In other fun (not) news, I seem to have developed floaters in my left eye. It just started Saturday night. I am told that I will get used to it, but right now they are really annoying.

Last story - Some of you may remember that about 5 years ago dh did an Ancestry DNA test and discovered that he may have some half siblings. (For those of you who don’t know, my dh was adopted as an infant) He communicated briefly with a man named Stephen who is probably his half brother. Stephen didn’t seem interested in pursuing a relationship, so dh just push. Today dh was contacted by Stephen’s sister Stephanie who does seem interested in getting to know him better. Dh couldn’t do much today since he was driving, but the 2 of them will start communicating and just see where this goes.

Sorry for not playing catch up on posts. I am tired and have to go back to work tomorrow. Bleh!

Prayers for everyone in Milton’s path.

Good Tuesday morning everyone :wave2:

Sometimes the wisest heartfelt requests of the ones we love are the best advice. I’am glad you were able to adjust your vacation schedule.

Same plan. Big bag of food for the pooches. Extra bagels and of course hurricane snacks.
Genny will run fridge, AC and TV/Internet.
Prayers for all the folks South and West of us.
Glad to hear you were able to get the doggies food needs taken care of. They are beautiful. Prayers for you and your family as you ride out this storm.

I’am sorry to hear about the floaters in your left eye. Prayers things settle down and your vision gets better.

I hope your hubby has a positive interaction with Stephanie. I can see his need to try and connect with folks he might be related to. Sometimes that helps to fill in the gaps on missing information they want to know about.

Carole hope you all had a good trip back home across the pond.

Mac hope you were able to get cats their preferred food and some human food for you all. Take care.

Prayers going out for all the TM’s at the Resorts and Parks. They are a wonderful part of all that happens at Universal. They live in and around Orlando and dealing with a hurricaine is not easy personally or professionally for them.

Tuesday morning here and coffee in hand.

Saying lots of prayers for all who are in the path of Hurricane Milton. What an emotional roller coaster these past number of days have been.

Continued prayers for those who are still recovering from the catastrophic disaster of Helene.

I honestly believe that when we have disasters like this the true heart of a Nation is tested. I can tell you from what I have seen people are rising to the occasion and helping their fellow brothers and sisters in need in this Country.

I watched little J yesterday and we were at Sam’s Club and a elderly man and his wife had one of those huge rolling carts filled with diapers, formula, water and cookies that they were donating to the relief effort in Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Talk to my sister in Harmony last night and they are preparing for the hurricane. They have their generators ready and are storing outside furniture. My sister said it has been raining on and off since Saturday and the ground is already very saturated with water.

She said her grandson was storing the patio furniture in the back when he saw a big black Racer snake sitting on one of the cushions. Needless to say he decided to wait until today to see if the snake had moved on.

Praying the predicted upper atmospheric jet stream will weaken the winds as they approach Florida as they are predicting, but even with that it is still going to be bad.

Hospitals are already feeling the affects of the issues in production of IV Fluids from the plant in North Carolina after the storm. The plant makes 60% of the IV fluids for hospitals in the US.

Granddaughter in Kentucky had surgery this morning and Daughter texted me this morning and let me know that they are rationing the IV supply already in the hospital where granddaughter had her surgery this morning.

IV fluids are an integral part of treatment in the hospital setting. Praying this gets settled soon.

Hubby’s surgery is tomorrow. So we are preparing for that.

The weather here has really cooled down. We are having what I call desert weather. Cool in the morning and warms of nice into the 70’s during the day.

On a lighter note. While Little J and I were at Sam’s yesterday the elderly gentleman and his wife that were buying the supply’s I noted above started talking to little J. J out of the blue sang happy birthday to the man and the guy looked at him and said. “How did you know it was my birthday” I thought he was kidding to go along with J’s singing and it was actually the guys birthday. To cute. I have been singing Happy Birthday to J since his actual birthday and he just decided to sing it.

One of our other granddaughters M that lives locally came by for a visit yesterday evening. It was so nice to see her. Her husband was coaching a soccer game at the High School close by and she stopped in.

I’am going to make a big pot of beef stew and cut up some butternut squash for baking. Will share some of the stew with our local family here.

For all of our family in the path of this storm stay safe and let us know how you are doing.

Mac has made a wonderful home here on the Sans and we care about you and your families safety.
