Something About Nothing............ #14

Was a little surprised they announced Mardi Gras in an email today. They took so long for the Christmas stuff.

Loving the bright sunshine we are having.

Charade, hope the computer issue was resolved quick.

Pumpkin, sorry have to work this weekend, but I hear ya, working more hours when it’s nice out, not as want to work those longer hours.

Ok, I don't know what I did to that other "post" so just ignore it. Maybe I was going to reply and got distracted. It's a mystery we will never know :teeth:
So I am really going to reply this time!

Robo, I'm so sorry you are going through so much with the PF. I have PF off and on too, and it is not fun. I usually just get off my feet and suffer through it. It must not be as bad as yours, but I never know when it will flare up! I really hope it doesn't happen while at Universal at the end of this month! I'm bring 3 pairs of shoes and will switch off. I have had to rent a scooter one time when it was really bad, so there is that option. I haven't heard of wearing a boot for it? Has it helped?

Keisha, I loved your memes. You and Carole are the meme queens on here - always so funny! It sounds like your Halloween was successful with lots of kids. I really miss the little ones, but we are too far out in the country to have any kids trick or treating anymore.

Pumpkin: It sounds like you had a small but nice turnout. The good news is that you and your hubby get to eat all the left over candy! We never get kids anymore on Halloween, but we keep a candy dish out anyway and manage to eat all of it:)

Mac: I guess I'm lucky that my husband wants nothing to do with my phone! He uses the old land line one and is happy with it:) I wouldn't like it if anyone messed with my phone - I mess it up plenty on my own, LOL. I have cataracts too, but they are not ready for surgery yet. Yes, it is a common surgery now and has very good results. I hope you get yours done soon. Also I feel so sorry for you with 58 degrees!!! We are in the 30's and teens at night and it isn't even officially winter yet! No sympathy here::)

Carole: I'm so glad you are doing well and not having alot of pain anymore! Sounds like Tom has everything under control and you can relax and heal:) I almost fell out of the chair over the psychic response :rotfl2: . Oh my, and I thought I was gullible. My grandsons love to tell me things and I always fall for it.

Only 2 more weeks, Carole, and about 4 for us! Can't wait for some sunshine and warmth. I hope it is in the 70's at least. I'm bringing slacks and capris and shorts, so I have it taken care of, LOL.

We are having the whole family around this weekend. It's first day of deer season, and the grandsons, son, soninlaw are all gong to be out in the woods. So I get to see the great grandson, his lovely Mom, and granddaughter. It will be a fun weekend to all be together again. It's so hard to get the family together anymore due to college and living away from us. Hope everyone has a good weekend too:)

lol....I`ve had emails and posts go into the outer limits at times......I was thinking of you this morning when I opened the email about Mardi Gras, you were considering that time frame too I think? Glad you decided on Christmas or we`d have missed one another.

Oh lordy I can be so gullible......but it`s so believable, a psychic could have said that!!! She was very good by all accounts, I`m annoyed I missed it, told them next time she`s in the area, I`m there!!

Venison in red wine is so lush!! Yes, it`s lovely having a get together with family or friends!

Oh it`s going to be in the 80`s Ruth.....I`ve made a call, all arranged 😉

We miss having kids at the door where we are now too, so helping out for the village party is a good substitute for missing out on trick or treaters....or "guisers" as we called them in Scotland.

Have a great weekend Ruth :)

Dinner was rather lush tonight, cranberry gravy isn`t for everyone, but we love it. Anything with turkey works for us.

Slice of cake my friend brought round last night and a pot of tea, last of the night for us.

And it`s still raining! ☔

SeaWorld passes just got some upgraded perks. Gonna wait til Black Friday to renew. DW got her Sunpass for the new van today and is fired up.
Will definitely do a big Mardi gras trip as it coincides with Valentine's and DWs birthday. We did 5 days last year IOA, UO, SW and BG during Mardi-gras.
Beignets belong to BG but all the parks had great items if you thought the menus through.
I made a strawberry cake w strawberries and a strawberry mascarpone icing for one of our friends tonight. Princess pink overload.

am on the hunt for little things for granddaughter so that I can build her a little advent calendar. I found the cutest advent calendar box that you fill yourself that can be resued each year. The boxes are pretty tiny - so it won't fit much
That’s a great idea! Have fun making it
YUP!!!!! Wondering what the redneck family of the street is up to now
What would the neighborhood(s) do without us to entertain them :p
Was a little surprised they announced Mardi Gras in an email today. They took so long for the Christmas stuff.
Seriously, they drug their feet so
Maybe I was going to reply and got distracted. It's a mystery we will never know :teeth:
that strikes me as a really good fill in the blank excuse. I shall borrow it going forth lol
He uses the old land line one and is happy with it
He may be onto something. A prepper type I run into now & again has warned me that “those fancy cell phones” won’t work in the upcoming Armageddon

i could be wrong, think having phone service is the last thing we’d need to worry about then:duck:
cranberry gravy
Never near of it, do love cranberries, interesting

I got an email, promptly deleted it Lol.

Anything particularly exciting?

We used to always have the lowest one that gave free parking.

last year let it go and just bought blue friday discounted tix & supplemented with the military salute (thank you SW!) ones in the summer.

i did start a blue friday thread on sea world board. If you do get a email re info, please be sure to let us know :)

I’m hoping for even a good fun pass deal (BOGO maybe?), discounted tours perhaps for the day we are going to visit over upcoming holiday trip. The mr loves feeding those sea lions. no thrilled the split that tour into two different ones, oh well.

In addition to the 1 free animal interaction, there is now a free feeding each month.
We got 2 extra free guest tickets last cycle too for a total of 8.
New passholder entry gate.
Early soft opening of the new ride Penguin Trek.
More lanyard deals.
We always get the highest tier FL APs because SW and UO show much love to their loyal guests.

That reminded me we do get teased for still using a landline too. We do use it as well. But, yes, come the apocalypse......well......I won`t be worrying about much if that happens!

Cranberry gravy is just my cranberry sauce added to thickened chicken gravy and a tsp of brown sugar too if the cranberry sauce is slightly sharper. Have to have rosemary in there too though and it is lush!!!! Only trouble is, instead of having a reasonable amount of gravy, you want more!!

Rain has stopped but it`s still very windy this morning, hopefully the worst of the storm has gone and we might not need that ark just yet.

Not going out till mid morning, have an appointment with the optician who altered my prescription for new glasses, the reading ones are far too strong, so have been using my original pair this week. I didn`t think I needed new glasses so will see what she says.

The town I go to for eye tests, has a market on a Friday, so if it`s not too bad weather wise, we`ll have a wander round and see what we see. They have some local butchers, bakers and just about every kind of stall you can think of, but if it`s cold and rainy we`ll head home quickly.

No idea what`s for dinner yet, Tom fancies a steak so might get a filet for me and him his usual T Bone, do some garlic mash or seasoned chunky fries, will decide later. But French Toast for breakfast, will keep the bacon for tomorrow I think and lunch will be something we`ll grab in town.

Got a friend coming round for a cuppa and a good old chinwag this morning before we leave, will be nice to see her, she was at the psychic experience on Wednesday night, so I`m looking forward to hearing her tale from the evening. She`ll be here early as we need to leave before lunchtime.

But, it`s Friday......even retired folks love that Friday feeling!!!! Have a lovely Friday!

Good morning. I'm up earlier than I want to be, but have a good reason. I will probably be taking a morning nap later on though..

Not clogging either?
Nope, just tap.

I am on the hunt for little things for granddaughter so that I can build her a little advent calendar. I found the cutest advent calendar box that you fill yourself that can be resued each year.
That sounds really cool. I hope you are able to find enough small stuff to fill it.

Don’t laugh when I say it’s 58 degrees here right now.
This is cold weather to us
58 isn't too bad. I just want to warm enough to prevent ice in the morning.

Mardi Gras has been announced.....

Feb 3rd - April 7th!!
I really want to go, but don't know if I can make a trip that early in the year. I'm trying to build up my flight miles again.

Charade, hope the computer issue was resolved quick.
Thank you. We got it resolved at lunch time. The normal default for a scan is IMG_0001, IMG_0002, etc. My boss, who is pretty much computer illiterate, managed to find a way to rename the file before scanning the document. It became the default label for the scan. Thankfully it was a very simple fix.

That reminded me we do get teased for still using a landline too.
We kept ours for a long time because dh didn't want to get rid of it. One day we discovered that our phone had not been working for 2 months. Out of 2 months work of voicemail messages, only 2 were somewhat important. It was at this point that I convinced dh that we did not need the land line anymore. Now I'm trying to convince him to get rid of cable TV.

I am off to the university this morning. It's homecoming weekend and I am going to check in and pick up our T-Shirts. I also get a coffee mug for being one of the first people to register. Tonight we have a bonfire, tomorrow is the football game.

Fabulous Friday feeling here. Little one wanted breakfast out, today and tomorrow. Okay we he. Tomorrow one is free. Yay for that. Week day ones usually include a free drink and a discount on the items. Hmm, maybe brunch for me. Getting later, and I had oatmeal a couple of hours ago. DH had an early doctor’s appointment, and I assume he’s doing something else after that, as still haven’t seen him back yet. He likes oatmeal too. When it was below freezing when he left, warm breakfast is the best.

So darn bright out. 42 degrees out.

Your boxed notes at the end of your posts always has me in stitches!

You always post fun stuff!

Glad you like them! I always like to start the day with a smile......and a cuppa of course, anything else is a bonus 😉

Naps are always nice, especially in the winter for me.

Yes, if you don`t need or use it, why keep it and if you don`t watch cable......

I have to admit, I wonder why we have all the channels on our tv, movies, sports the lot....and Netflix and several other subscription channels.....I don`t watch that much tv!!! And the only sport we watch is F1, even that`s dull most of the time now. But, they`re handy to have apparently......boys and their toys!!

Enjoy your event tonight, I believe most of the events around us on Saturday and maybe are cancelled due to weather.

Getting my glasses altered as they made the prescription too strong. Will get them back in a week, meantime my other glasses are fine. The town was busy though, market day there is always a little crazy, but I think we came across a million smokers as we walked through the town to the optician!!! Disgusting! So, we didn`t hang around long.

My goddaughter who went to be a doctor in London is coming home for the weekend, wasn`t sure we`d see her as of course, everyone wants to see her, but her and her mum and dad are coming for breakfast in the morning, won`t stay long as they have a busy couple of busy days ahead, but just glad to be able to see her. She is loving her time in London thankfully.

Brought out a couple of steaks for dinner, will cook them both rare to medium rare, doing spicy wedges with garlic and pepper seasonings and made us some coleslaw to go with it, although I may have nibbled more of that than I planned! oops.

Then tonight, will make sure I have plenty on offer for breakfast and I just baked some white chocolate and raspberry muffins she loves so much.

Movie and wine later, not sure which movie though, might drag out The Murders in the Rue Morgue since we`ve been enjoying some Edgar Allan Poe themes this week. Very old but classic movie.

Cuppa tea time......

It's Friday :cheer2:

Quiet night last night. I did manage to drag myself to the gym and get some exercise in. I didn't break any records last night- but I did drag my bu!! off the couch and do it.

I'm tying to hit 12,000 everyday in Nov. So I was needing to get some steps in. It's hard at my jobs - as I don't do much walking around. I try to get up and walk around a little bit several times during the day. And that's why I leave for lunch and go walk around stores - to get some steps in. So I'll let you know how I do on that front over the month.

Don’t laugh when I say it’s 58 degrees here right now.
This is cold weather to us
I don't laugh - because you used to live in cold climates! You know the struggle of living in those cold temps. Everyone is trying to get acclimated to the colder temps right now.
We are having the whole family around this weekend. It's first day of deer season, and the grandsons, son, soninlaw are all gong to be out in the woods. So I get to see the great grandson, his lovely Mom, and granddaughter. It will be a fun weekend to all be together again.
It sounds like it will be a fantastic weekend. There is no better way to spend a weekend!!!!!
I made a strawberry cake w strawberries and a strawberry mascarpone icing for one of our friends tonight. Princess pink overload.
Yum!!!!!!

I am off to the university this morning. It's homecoming weekend and I am going to check in and pick up our T-Shirts. I also get a coffee mug for being one of the first people to register. Tonight we have a bonfire, tomorrow is the football game.
That sounds like a fun weekend on the horizon.
Getting my glasses altered as they made the prescription too strong. Will get them back in a week, meantime my other glasses are fine. The town was busy though, market day there is always a little crazy,
Dh had that happen with his most recent ones. The second set was much better.

We still have a landline as well. It is part of a package and honestly only spend 5.00/month for it so we will keep it. Because in an emergency - if we use it - dispatching any medical, fire, RCMP will be able to send help WAYYYYYYYYYYY faster than trying to track a cell phone - which is why we will keep it. I've also told my parents to keep theirs as well - for that same reason.

Steaks - yum!!!! I'm pulling some chicken thighs and legs out to grill tonight! We have amazing weather - today is supposed to be +10C which is WARM for us at this time of year....so one more night to fire up the grill!

Well, I should track down some paperwork.

Have a great day everyone!

Since you asked🤗 I like how Jason is highlighted on the right in the fog in the graveyard scene. Went bit different and did sections this year. In background, you can see homage to Universal movies (ghostbusters, trick r treat & classic monsters) on far left. We also had a nightmare before Xmas & witches/ghouls area.
I love it. You have a big display. That is so cool. There are many halloween well know favorites. I bet it is a job setting up and taking down the display. So nice you do that for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks Robbie.....yes, the Halloween party was wonderful. The ladies that volunteer to bake/cook for these village events never look for anything and honestly always feel guilty for taking the gift vouchers presented to us, well most of us do!! I know I`ll wait and discreetly donate it back to the church Christmas Fayre where they have a tombola every year, that`ll be a nice little prize along with the other donations.
Great to hear the party was a success. Very nice of you to give back the GC. I’am sure they will find a happy home for it.

Glad you had a nice time with the little guy and that he still loves minions. I saw little Elise last weekend (friends granddaughter) and asked if she wanted be to bring her back something Miniony from our trip and she informed me Minions are for babies now......she`s a very grown up almost 6 lol......
He has really been into the MInions past few months. He loves to watch the movies.

That is so funny that Elise has grown out of her Minion faze and now thinks its for babies. She will have another favorite I’am sure.

The salsa turned out AMAZING!!! Next year I will add more jalapenos. It could definitely be hotter. But for a first attempt - it is pretty darn good. Monday on my other day off - I made red pasta sauce. It turned out pretty good too! Only one jar didn't want to seal. So that is in the fridge for me to use up - probably next week or on the weekend.
Salsa sounds good as does your homemade pasta sauce.

story is, it was filled, just never made it into the bin for me to pick up. Interesting…they have initiated an internal investigation. Call out the hounds
Sounds like a shifty issue with that Pharmacy for sure. Glad it was sorted out so you could get your needed eye drops.

Robo, I'm so sorry you are going through so much with the PF. I have PF off and on too, and it is not fun. I usually just get off my feet and suffer through it. Thank you Ruth. Sorry to hear you have problems with PF too. It is not fun to deal with for sure.

I actually have two things going on in my left foot. PF and a fracture of one of the top bones on my foot. The PF is feeling better, but I’am having an issue getting that bone to heal.

Did your Podiatrist every suggest you get custom fitted orthotic inserts for your shoes to help with the the PF flare ups?

It is miserable when it flares up. There are a few others on the Sans here that have issues with PF too.

I hope you have a wonderful trip to Universal without any issues with your feet.

Carole so good to hear you are feeling better after your dental procedure.

Mac hope all goes well with your cataract surgery when it happens.

Halloween party was a fun. Everyone enjoyed the food and and desserts. Sent home a lot of desserts and treats with family.

I made goodie bags for everyone so the littles did not need to trick or treat unless they wanted too.

Like Pumpkin we only had about 15 Trick or Treater’s. I always have a variety of big candy bars in my cauldron container and we just let the trick or Treater’s dig in and get what they want.

Some of the family took my Halloween decorations upstairs for me after the party. That helped a lot. I took the rest down yesterday afternoon and evening. Everything is put away. Now it is time to decorate for Christmas.

It is always nice to have cheerful lights and decorations in the house.

Lazy day for the day. Not a lot planned. Need to drop by the bank and pick up a few things at the store.

I refused to look at Christmas decorations until Halloween was over…LOL

Had lunch out with my sister and little J Wednesday. We went to HomeGoods and Tj Max and I did find something I thought was cute. Although I do have a chimney I had never seen this before so thought is was unique.

IMG_2674.jpeg

Son and daughter in law are coming over tomorrow to bring my Christmas bins down from the storage room so I can decorate.

Need to get moving.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone one doing whatever makes you happy.

Shout out to Tink and everyone who does not post here anymore. You are missed and thought of. Hope everyone is doing well.

Tom fancies a steak
I’m still leaning toward tuna salad Sammie vs the left over stew.

Inspired, think I’ll pull out a couple of steaks to grill sunday. Will still be unseasonably warm
It's homecoming weekend
Woohoo that will be a ton of fun for you

my older two DS have their first (and probably only) HS Football playoff game tonight. At least the team they coach made it to the dance.
So darn bright out. 42 degrees out.
We are at 60 & sunny, a very nice break after being in the 20’s and first snow of the year
She is loving her time in London thankfully.
As she should, what a great time for her
Very old but classic movie.
Yes, I wound up watching Vincent price in house on haunted hill this week. It’s holding up more campy than anything else at this point
didn't break any records last night- but I did drag my bu!! off the couch and do it.
I’ve started to do the steps in the house twice, vs once each time I need to use them at home. May try to up it next week. Good cardio
I bet it is a job setting up and taking down the display. So nice you do that for everyone to enjoy.
Yes, we are still at it, slowly but, surely. Had wondered how you would manage with that boot. I never did get to the point using it where I didn’t feel like an absolute klutz
He has really been into the MInions past few months. He loves to watch the movies.
Lol good for him. The mr found one of the GD’s old fart guns. He snuck up upon me with it today. It’s good for a cheap laugh
I actually have two things going on in my left foot. PF and a fracture of one of the top bones on my foot. The PF is feeling better, but I’am having an issue getting that bone to heal.
Perhaps a 3rd, arthritis, adding to the mayhem.

slow & steady, you will get there

Oh how nice of them. I brought out a couple of tablecloths today, they are still sitting on the back of one the DR chairs. think I’ll take the weekend off before digging out those bins

Funny, tho; i put the usual Knick knacks away for holiday decorating…the house almost looks to have a minimalist vibe going…oh so not me

Good evening. The bonfire tonight was nice. It wasn’t too cold out, so we had a pleasant evening. We had s’mores and hot apple cider.
Tomorrow is the football game. We have the choice to go to our regular tailgate or to the alumni tailgate. I told dh we should go to both and see which has the better food.
