Something About Nothing............ #14

Hey all, busy day, I’ve tuckered myself out with chores today. Stripped the little seasonal xmas tree down, refluffed it, was looking worse for wear. Usually happens when somebody knocks it over and hastily tries to right it before I Can catch them.

Granted it’s on a landing but, it a huge one…plenty of room to navigate it even if hands are full. It’s ok, just cheapo stuff on it anyway

Dinner is still a mystery, need to give that some quick thot.

Had an easy dinner tonight as decided it is easier to order pizza delivery than to go grocery shopping at 6:00 in the evening
Wait, people actually start to cook dinner after 6 pm? Can’t remember the last time I did that. Of course, we only eat two meals and usually hangry by at least 5 pm.
This was my MIL. She got to the point that she didn’t want to do anything but sit in her recliner and watch TV. Her health declined very quickly.
Yes, it’s surprising how many spend retirement that way. Heck, I daydreamed about it from time I was in late 20’s lol.
She wants to reapply to the Disney college program. I told her that was fine, but if she doesn’t get in this time then she has to find a job. Any job.
Good luck to her, it’s become quite competitive as I understand it.

I agree a job, any job, is non-negotiable. If anything, a crappy one is a powerful carrot to look for a better one
We are getting a little slower and more cautious at what we do, but still have fun:)
Absolutely! Doesn’t matter how long it takes on the journey as long as you do get there
Texas Brownie
I’ve tried Texas sheet cake, family gave it a thumbs down. Is the brownie different?
A massage really helps my fibromyalgia - one of the only things that does - so I spoil myself with one a month.
Sounds like a need not a want to me. You’d think it would be something covered under your insurance.

Quick lunchtime post. Yesterday was a mostly lazy day. My NASCAR driver did not win the cup. He finished 4th in the race. He had a really good session though.

She’s doing well, but still needs to find a job. She wants to reapply to the Disney college program. I told her that was fine, but if she doesn’t get in this time than she has to find a job. Any job.

I would love to see the lights someday. I am currently stitching a picture of them to give to a friend.

Nice. I think we are supposed to hit 69 today.

I would love both the chocolate and lemon.

Almost time to get back to work.

Cake and syllabub all gone!

I`d love to see that when you`ve completed it, they are stunning to see. Although we did travel to Norway once to see them and they had a weird week of weather and we didn`t really see much of anything, but they are stunning.

Good luck to her whatever she ends up doing, I`m sure she`s keen to start her career.

Happy Monday to everyone in SANs land, LOL!

Just a few posts to catch up on.....

Robo: Sorry it's taken so long to respond to your post about PF. I have never had my podiatrist suggest inserts. Do they help? I have had injections in the bottom of the foot - ask me how awful those felt! But they did help. I would visit him before a trip with lots of walking and get an injection, and they did the trick. I hope that broken bone on top of your foot is healing now?

Charade: Congratulations on your game and a great record of 9-0!!! I miss going to my kids games when they were in high school. We never missed a game. The grandkids did not get into sports, so no games for us lately.

Kiesha: Your class reunion sounds like fun next summer. I always try to go to mine. But I have to travel a ways to get there now. I have a group of girl friends that have kept close with each other from grade school through high school. We love to go on girl trips together and have one coming up. I don't think my friends are getting sedentary, but I know what you are talking about. We are getting a little slower and more cautious at what we do, but still have fun:)

Schumigirl: Tom's "man cave"?? I think that's brilliant! And he makes his own wine?
It seems like your bonfire night has turned into nights of annoying fireworks? It sounds like our 4th of July celebration which some people carry on for days. It does get irritating. I just read about Why there is a bonfire night in the UK, and it is interesting. It sounds like you had a good time watching the Grand Prix. I confess that I don't know much about racing. We do have a race track near us for some type of auto racing. We even hear the roar from the race cars on a Sunday evening. I don't mind that at all. It's a sound from my childhood that I heard while staying overnight at Grandma's. The sound always put me to sleep:)

Yesterday, I had a big urge to bake! I don't usually get like that, but bake occasionally because the family loves it:) I baked 2 apple pies and also a Texas Brownie for the gang at my daughters house for hunting. The Texas brownie is Huge and I use a large jelly roll pan for them. They must be kept in the fridge and are a great chocolate treat.

Then I watched NFL all day:):) I even see that the NFL is having some football games in Europe. There was one in Germany yesterday. I didn't know football was popular over there.

I don't have much planned this week. I have a massage tomorrow which I look forward to each month! A massage really helps my fibromyalgia - one of the only things that does - so I spoil myself with one a month. I will take Mom out to the stores and restaurant one day, and the rest of the week is open. It was snowing big flakes this AM, but they disappeared soon as the ground is too warm for it to stick, thank heavens!!!

OH, and I'm jealous of Mac's 79 degree weather! We won't see that again til next June.

Have a good week, everyone. I really enjoy this thread even though I don't participate as much as I would like!

ruth

If you ever need another injection like that Ruth, get them to numb the whole foot. My friend who passed, her husband is a surgeon and he gave me both cortisone injections and I never felt a thing as it was completely numb, he never believed anyone should be in that much pain.

I wear orthotics all the time and they make a big difference. No walking around barefoot, although I am guilty of that at times, but unless it`s a pair of strappy sandals that I maybe wear once in a millenium, I have them in every pair of shoes or boots that I own. They were specially made for me, not generic ones though.

He loves his mancave, but I think our gardener loves it more.....lol....Tom is very rarely in it, especially in the colder weather. The two of them brewed wine for a couple of years, but not anymore, I didn`t really touch it and his wife was complaining he was drinking it too often.....lol, so they gave it away to his brother who wanted a go.

Bonfire night and New Year are both the same, it goes on for night after night after night, as I said it doesn`t affect us as much as others, but I don`t like fireworks.

Yes, I grew up with F1, had a family member who was in it for years, not a driver sadly.....lol.....then when I met Tom, he was as big a fan as I was. Been to many races over the years mainy thanks to complimentary entrance to them all due to our relative who has now retired. It`s not been the same though over the last few years due to rule changes and regulations being altered. We still watch it though.

Your baking sounds lovely!!! We adore apple pie, and Tom and Kyle would love your brownies!!

Enjoy your massage tomorrow, folks don`t always understand how bad Fybromyalgia can be unless you experience it and enjoy your time with mum!! And you are a lovely addition to this thread!!!

Always think of Kenan and Kel with their mystery chilli when someone says dinner is a mystery....lol....takes me back a lot of years!! Glad you saved the tree!!!

Yep, that`s a good one actually.....the first job might not be what they want to do but it`s an incentive for a better one.

Hope you had something rather lovely for dinner!!

Such a lazy night tonight, we had a lovely meal together and dessert was demolished!!! Good to see though, although he said he`ll have to run 10 miles to even work off a morsel fo the cake he ate!! He`s so lean it won`t take him long!

I think tomorrow is our last sunny day this week, so we`ll head out in the morning maybe for a walk, but another early night for us, maybe after this episode. Detective show from Scotland called Shetland, tried to watch it years ago when it was first on but found it rather dreary and slow, but this time around it`s a bit better. But could not live up on Shetland for anything....so remote and always looks cold!

Yawning has commenced from both of us!!

Quick Monday stop in!!!!

I started 2 posts on the weekend at work - got interrupted and then was busy the rest of those days!

It is an unbelievably beautiful day here today!!!! Which also would explain my headache today. I could handle winter if it was always like this!!!!! Our forecast is for beautiful weather for the next two weeks! I'll take all of it - and I think we could be in a heap of trouble in December/Jan for this....but I don't care!!!!

I think tonight will be quiet. No energy to go to the gym - take more meds and hopefully this headache/migraine goes away.

Well, have a great evening everyone!

Oh Pumpkin, sending mummy dust headache go away thoughts. They say with the time change, many get nasty headaches.

Little one wanted ramen, so we added chopped steak, an over easy egg, and red and yellow peppers. I am so full. Hehe, with time change, older one asked if anyone was hungry at just around 5 pm. Um, I guess. We ate closer 6pm.

Caught a flu bug and came home Sunday but had a great day at IOA. Single rider or Express pass for just about everything by 2. Confisco lunch and Cowfish dinner. Wore the millennials out.

We do dinner round 6 too. Works out best for us.

Thanks! It was a trip, I haven't been sick for two and a half years. Had covid bad and nothing since so I was unprepared. Snuggling with the dachshunds and letting Mrs. Junkie pamper me.

Looks like all the homies have called it a night and now sleeping.

I am going to try to be more of a day person instead of the night owl here.
Obviously this won’t happen tonight as it’s now after midnight.

The ac will be on tomorrow as it will be 80.
Some years we get lucky with that and get a warm spell up to early December but January and February are our cold months.
March can go either way.

I will always remember how lousy and unpredictable it was when we lived in Chicago.
Had many a white Christmas years back.
Beautiful to have for the holidays but not fun shoveling snow.

My oldest son and his wife have been married over ten years and expecting a baby by the end of the year.
It’s going to be a boy.
Not a clue on what name they have chosen yet but whatever it is, will love it.

Hope all the homies are doing good !

Good night and sleep tight … don’t let the bed bugs bite..
If they do, get a shoe and beat them till they are black and blue.

Any homies making plans for your next vacation to UO?l
I hope you will share with the group any leaks or info about what will happen
.

The new addition to the new up and coming and the openings will begin soon
tell me what you have read on the future changes
haven’t figured out if I will be able to check it out
been slowing down as i have gotten older
whoever in the sans thread that does hit the new additional parks hope you share new pictures of it when i opens.

right now not sure if I am sold on it as i am lacking information about the new set up and new lands

Hope some homies that will be going to it will leak the new set up once it has been released!

keisha since it’s just the Mr and me, we do dinner at 6:30.

I got out voted as food at 5:00 would be fine with me.

I lose my appetite when we eat late

6 is usually the earliest we eat dinner mac, but we tend not to eat lunch till around 1ish usually because, although I`m a very early riser, I never eat breakfast till 8.30-9ish. I do of course keep the British end up with lots of tea before that, but can`t eat till later. However, can`t do without breakfast.

On vacation it`s whenever, no time scale.

Feel better Pumpkin, the change in pressure recently will be affecting you, there`s something in the atmosphere right now affecting us, the guy who was explaining why we are seeing the aurora so clearly this far south was very interesting.

But, hope you feel much better soon.

80 sounds lovely mac....and yes, it would be nice to see you more during the day, although I do like the company early doors when no one else is around!!

There is quite a lot of information online mac, loads of pictures from places like Bioreconstruct who have many pictures and very good close ups, obviously if folks don`t want spoilers.....don`t look at it. Tom likes to be surprised, but I enjoy seeing the progress. I posted some pictures from the Orlando eye last trip, but it has grown massively since then and it looks amazing!!!

Only going to be interested in the top tier hotel within the park which will be beautiful we want to see the horror and Potter areas, the other stuff although we`ll go see it, isn`t aimed at me for sure.

I think it will be a massive game changer as it sounds amazing.

Going to be a decent day today, a very temperate 55F, yep, not warm but mild for this time of year for us on the East coast.

Made some breakfast muffins for this morning, so will have those with some fruit and parma ham. We`re running down the freezers for Christmas before we go stock them back up again, so we have very little in there right now, so will go buy some of our village butchers pork sausages, they do different flavours, we like their honey and chilli variety, well, we like them all, but, will get some of them for tonight and do creamy mash with leeks and roast carrots, no idea for lunch yet, popping into the village so will pick something up there.

Tom is volunteering this afternoon so I might sort out some closets and work out which clothes I`ll be taking on our trip. I promised to try and take less.....I can try!!! Tom suggested I only take 2 dresses....... :scared1: er, no that`s not happening!!!! But, I do need to think about what I want to fly in ahead of time as we`ll drop our luggage off the night before the flight, so I need to have my flight outfit ready....something comfy for sure. 10 hours is a long time to be sitting.

Single digit sleep countdown.......:cheer2:

Second cup of tea this morning, sun hasn`t come up yet, but it is starting to get lighter and everything looks calm, sea is looking still too so might get out a walk if it`s not too chilly.

Have a lovely Tuesday.....

Ah Tuesday is here, and the warmest day we have before that correcting to 50’s high temps. 70 degrees the high, and already 53 degrees out. Might wear shorts today. Even with a mostly cloudy day, lunchtime walk will be nice and feel warmer.

But as we are at a Tuesday, a Taco Bell meal would be a perfect one today. Yep, that day to enjoy a taco, and think wow, it will be a wonderful Wednesday tomorrow, when camel will say, look it’s the middle of our week. And that much closer for Schumi’s trip. Yay for an early holiday trip.

Junkie, ack to getting sick, hope you are feeling better today, with mummy dust well wishes sent your way.

Woot! Grandma Mac soon. So nice to hear a new little baby boy coming into in your family.

Ah DH and I have been up and doing that week day routine. He talks much more than me, so I told him he has to be in another room. Like me, his coworkers are up just as early. But mine email more than his, they phone call or online talk more.

So, have that most Terrific Taco Tuesday today. Yay, week day routine ending week with a holiday. Woot! But a day, we should say thank you to all our veterans.

Good Tuesday morning everyone :wave2:

Lol good for him. The mr found one of the GD’s old fart guns. He snuck up upon me with it today. It’s good for a cheap laugh
Those Minion fart guns are fun. Classic Minion toy.

Oh how nice of them. I brought out a couple of tablecloths today, they are still sitting on the back of one the DR chairs. think I’ll take the weekend off before digging out those bins

Funny, tho; i put the usual Knick knacks away for holiday decorating…the house almost looks to have a minimalist vibe going…oh so not me
Son and daughter in law came over on Saturday and brought down Christmas tubs.

After getting all the Halloween decorations were put away there was a minimalist vibe here too. Had to rectify that.

Thank you, feeling much better, it was certainly not as painful a procedure as I thought it would be.
Good to hear you are on the med.

Ruth I had custom Orthotics made for my feet many years ago. During this current go around with PF I had another set of custom Orthotics made for my shoes.

Strangely I can only wear the Orthotics for a short time to settle down the PF. If I wear them to much it affects my Achilles tendon. I talk to current Podiatrist about this and he said he has the same issue.

I had steriod injection in my heels a few years ago from my previous Podiatrist for PF it did seem to help.

I have Osteopenia so that is why the fracture is taking longer to heal according to the Podiatrist.

I think tonight will be quiet. No energy to go to the gym - take more meds and hopefully this headache/migraine goes away.
Pumpkin I hope the headache gets to feeling better soon.

My oldest son and his wife have been married over ten years and expecting a baby by the end of the year.
It’s going to be a boy.
Not a clue on what name they have chosen yet but whatever it is, will love it.
Congratulations Mac to your son and daughter in law on their upcoming baby. Congratulations to you too. You are going to be a grandma again.

Charade good luck to your daughter in finding a job she likes.

Our internet was out for a couple of days. The Techs were out yesterday and had to run new line from the box behind our property to the the house. Always something going on.

Supposed to be 74 today then 78 tomorrow then temps will be back in the 60’s

I have all the Christmas decorations up. Son and daughter in law brought down Christmas decoration bins on Saturday. I have been slowly getting things decorated. Finally completed tree in the formal living room last night so all done.

I will be watching little J this morning for a half day. Looking forward to spending time with him.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone.

Robo, good to hear from you. Annoying, I’m sure, now needed a new line. Luckily, we only have had a few outages since going to a fiberoptic line into our home. Which did take a long time to get that type of line into our neighborhood. Yay, I’m sure your home will look fantastic and beautiful once done decorating. So nice you get to spend time with little J.

Well, older one finally got his haircut and beard trim. Been asking for him to do it for years. What made him do it? Is that he might have jury duty next week. He’s not home from the hair salon yet, but little one said he looks good. I guess so. lol.

Still some clouds around, as bright out, but not that full sunny day bright. Happy that it’s warmer out. So ready for that lunchtime walk. Sigh. Mornings are so long for me. And for an even happier note, shorter Thursday announced. Yay, out of the city almost an hour earlier, then a three day weekend. Yay indeed.

mac....you still on the TB???

Robbie....glad the decorations are up...cheerful sight in these darker nights!! Have fun with the little guy today, such a joy to be around them.

Our main Christmas tree has 7000 lights on it, all LED so they are tiny. I thought it was 6000 but Tom just told me, nope 7000. But, we said last year we needed another 1000 on it, it sounds a lot, but it`s not too much. So we drove almost an hour to the garden centre where we always buy our lights.....they`ve changed companies!! It`s now a National chain and don`t carry what we want, they seem to be selling cheaper products for a more expensive price, they just didn`t look as good.

We did buy a Christmas welcome mat for the front doors and had a hot chocolate in their coffee shop so wasn`t a completely wasted trip. Popped into our village on the way home, turns out our village hardware store has the lights we want. Shop local!!!

We`ll be putting everything up on Saturday afternoon, I have the salon in the morning and we like to do it all together, usually with a bottle of wine and some snacks. Perfect afternoon.

Time for a cuppa, it`s a while till dinner here, but lamps are all on as is the heating although the Aga gives out a load of heat too which is lovely and cosy.

It's another incredibly mild morning here again! It was a slight sprinkle of rain just as I was coming into the building for work. I could almost cry with gratitude with the mild weather. So I appreciate each and every day that we get of this weather.

The migraine is gone - and the migraine hangover is slowly disappearing. Thank you for all the good wishes.

It was a quiet night last night. It was " fend for yourself night" and everyone found something to eat. I had a turkey sandwich on the last of my homemade bread. Tonight, I will be whipping up more - using the discard from my sourdough starter. One of these days - I might actually make an actual sourdough and let it naturally rise. But for now - I'll just keep making sandwich bread.

I'm thinking spaghetti and meatballs with my homemade sauce for dinner tonight. Tomorrow I'll plan to use the grill again - and take advantage of the mild weather while it's here. I want to see how good it is! And hopefully gym time tonight! MY migraine hangover should be gone by then

Snuggling with the dachshunds and letting Mrs. Junkie pamper me.
I hope you get better quickly. Sending lots of healing mummy dust!
My oldest son and his wife have been married over ten years and expecting a baby by the end of the year.
OOOOO exciting!!!!!!!
there`s something in the atmosphere right now affecting us, the guy who was explaining why we are seeing the aurora so clearly this far south was very interesting.
I agree! We have had amazing northern light shows the past few nights. The mild weather and changes in pressure have been quite big - which explains the migraines for me. It is very common for people around here to suffer from the drastic atmospheric changes.
northern lights 2.jpg
I might sort out some closets and work out which clothes I`ll be taking on our trip. I promised to try and take less.....I can try!!! Tom suggested I only take 2 dresses....... :scared1: er, no that`s not happening!!!!
:rotfl: I am a heavy packer as well. Even when we did carry-on to Vegas - dh was impressed with how much I was able to pack!

You gotta have variety when picking out what your wearing. I can pack very few shorts/skirts - but tops and dresses...I need plenty of choices!!!!! The men can say what they want - but I will continue to pack like I do!!!!!
I have all the Christmas decorations up. Son and daughter in law brought down Christmas decoration bins on Saturday. I have been slowly getting things decorated. Finally completed tree in the formal living room last night so all done.
That's great!!!! I've been thinking about pulling out some of them and getting started. Just so that I can enjoy them a little bit longer.

Well, I should go shuffle more papers around. I'm at homecare tomorrow and Thursday and I took Friday off to use up some vacation time.

I am going to have to find things to do today to keep busy - I've got most things all caught up already.

Have a great day everyone!

I’ve tried Texas sheet cake, family gave it a thumbs down. Is the brownie different?

Sounds like a need not a want to me. You’d think it would be something covered under your insurance.

Oh Keisha, I only wish my monthly massages were covered but I'm not that lucky!
I don't know if the sheet cake is the same as the Texas Brownie recipe. It only bakes for 20 minutes and you make the icing while it's baking. Then you pour the hot icing over the hot cake and when it cools put it in the fridge. My family really likes it. It is soft and chewy with that luscious icing on it. Eating it cold makes all the difference.

We eat at 5pm too! It just works out that way. I could eat at 4:30 because I'm always hungry, it seems, but try to wait til 50m, LOL.
