Something About Nothing............ #14

Quick lunchtime check in. This has been an unusually busy week.
We only had 9 kids come to our house last night. I think many of the parents take their children to larger neighborhoods.
I can’t quite think of Christmas yet. B has a birthday on November 14. She will get her gift on the 7th though. We got her tickets to a Celtic Thunder concert. She has unusual taste in music for someone her age.

I think I heard you mention that show before Charade, it`s nice to be able to get her something you know she`ll love.

I think November is one of the few months I don`t have a load of birthdays or anniversaries....

Getting hungry again, think dinner will be early tonight.

Carole, glad you lived through that dental surgery,
Bet you are glad it’s now over except for the healing that has started!

Dental surgery comes out the pits of hell…
Take drugs and chill today and tomorrow.
The worse is behind you!

My eye work starts soon, well it’s been a long wait as the surgeon has a long list to do before he has an opening for me.
Been on his schedule since 4 weeks ago and his staff told me today it will be at least 6 weeks before I am next in line.
Cataracts both eyes and it’s a very common surgery

The good eye surgeons always have a long wait list.

Could not find a surgeon in our town so next county over south of us will do.
Set up for December.

When I lived in the Chicago area, very easy to have surgery done within a few weeks of a diagnosis.

Small southern towns just opposite.

Had cold weather when we woke up but Mr sun will be back in the 70’s tomorrow
I could easily move back up north again some day in order to be closer to where my boys live.

No more trips and stays in Ocala any more!
Finally sold my house there and new owners moving in today.

A chapter in my life is now closed

Woot!!!!!

Woot!!!!!

Thanks mac....absolutely no pain today thankfully, so no need for pain pills. I am however, still going to chill tomorrow again...... ☺️

Glad you`re almost getting those eyes done, you`ll be glad to get that out of the way for sure and the new folks move in to the Ocala house today!!!! Wow, that was quick. Yes, that`s behind you now.

Enjoy that weather!!!

Almost done with the Fall of the House of Usher.....very weird indeed. But, glad we gave it a second chance.

Tom did the salmon very well, baked just enough so it`s still so moist and juicy, nothing worse than dry or overcooked salmon. Just had some more ice cream, think I`m ice creamed out now.

Feet up for the night again......

What is the strangest text message you have ever sent or received? I just texted my next door neighbor “Are you missing a dead body from your yard?”
I found one of her Halloween decorations in between B’s car and the neighbor’s house on the other side of mine.

an RCMP who favors a great hiding spot in our neighborhood to catch speeding in the playground area - actually caught someone with no insurance. Of course - this is DIRECTLY in front of our home. So he pulled around the guy and put his lights on - until the tow truck came to tow the car away.
Lol all the neighbors craning their necks to see what all the fuss was about, I’m sure
He changed settings on their trail cam - they finally have found a spot that has some activity with the animal they are looking for.
We’ve had a very young doe appear in our driveway for over a week. Nothing last night though. They are really moving about, getting that last rut in before hunkering down
keisha, Fall of the House of Usher......least it wasn`t a chemical shower!!!! eeek!!
doubtful I will ever forget that episode. Rarely, am I totally surprised like that one managed

Nice. does she compete in the step dancing still?

GD had considered teaching the younger girls in her gym tumbling, just such a long drive from home and she’s otherwise committed most days. Think it would be fun tho to pay it back of sorts in something you love.

Put your xmas tree up first, will give you something pretty to look at while your eyes settle back down.

It’s true, they are usually quite understaffed with medical specialists.

my family dr told me that friends of his are neurologists. Have young kids still at home pre-school. They quit working for the large hospital system here.

Both now working in North Dakota But, kept the family home here intact. What did stick with me is each works two weeks at a time, then flies home and they switch off.

He said they are making nearly double what they made here & only working 1/2 the time. A win-win, as one of them is always able to be full time with the kids. Plan on doing it for a year or two.

They do get to see each other two weekends a month. Quite interesting, told it’s commonplace as those far-flung places just cannot attract specialists to live there.

good, one less thing to keep you up at night worrying.

difficult to move on when a family member has passed, hugs there.

I always see my late DB’s entire family on Halloween, seems like there’s near 50 now with kids and grandchildren Lol. They descend like locusts.

Do enjoy seeing them all for a bit, however, do find myself feeling rather sad later when rethinking the day. just wishing that he was still here and I had the opportunity to give a proper good-bye. While it’s normal, it sure doesn’t make it hurt any less. Guess that’s part of what makes us human
Thanks mac....absolutely no pain today thankfully, so no need for pain pills. I am however, still going to chill tomorrow again...
Oh, absolutely needed. No funny stuff missy lol. Last thing you need is to decide to have a laundry marathon & rip open the stitches so close to your vacation

Yet another shaggy dog story:

day three after eye dr appointment for my inflamed eyes, finally have my RX for eye drops in hand.

Eyes feel so much better after just one drop, must have a good numbing agent in there.

such a slog with rite aid tho to get the RX. Two different stories why they couldn’t fill it…first, they had to order it, then they switched reason over to my insurance declined coverage.

BS, I immediately called my ins company who indicated they paid for the $600 RX yesterday. ‘somebody’ paid the small copay ($10) in cash.:scratchin

story is, it was filled, just never made it into the bin for me to pick up. Interesting…they have initiated an internal investigation. Call out the hounds

What somebody would want with another person’s eye drops, even if pricey, is beyond me :confused3 Certainly, not a controlled substance Of any sort.

no wonder they’ve gone bankrupt. I switched all my remaining RX over to CVS, something just doesn’t smell right there. Never received a “sorry” for the inconvenience either. Poor customer service and I know most of them by their first name & vice-a-versa. Just another layer to that onion.

good news in all this: once my insurance company called them, rite aid quickly absorbed the cost for the the replacement RX to be filled. they did make me fork over the copay. The nerve lol

Nice. does she compete in the step dancing still?
I think you have her confused with someone else. B took ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop (briefly) but not step dancing. I think she would have loved step dancing, but I don’t know anyone who teaches it here.

That episode will stay with me for a long time, but I every episode is unsettling in so many ways, they did a good job in showing Edgar Allan Poe`s thought process in his writing. I`m going to order a copy of Lenore and Fall of Usher too, and try and read them. I do find the books of his I`ve read quite hard, not hard to read that`s the wrong word, but they do take a little effort to get into them.

What a carry on with your pharmacy!! Yes, something amiss there with their process and yes, an apology would have been nice, so many don`t acknowledge what they have done wrong and sometimes it would be nice just to be acknowledged. lol....$10....no difference is there from $600!!!

Over here for the NHS we pay around $20 for each item on a prescription, unless you`re on benefits, children, pensioners or Scotland who get free prescriptions too, so my dentist gave me a private prescription for the antibiotics as the implant is a private treatment. Whatever it was we`d obviously happily pay and expected it to be up around the equivalent of $100. Tom came back and said rather weirdly it was only £4.99 which is around $6 lol....not sure how that worked out!!

You`ll have to let me know when you finish the Usher series!!!!

lol.....yes, no "funny stuff" right now:rotfl:and Tom has been doing anything that needs doing, I haven`t even been allowed to put the kettle on although I have come down early this morning and made my own tea. All joking aside, I am being careful because of the stitches but will make dinner tonight.

Another good sleep, although nothing unusual there, we both sleep really well generally, but we did hear the rain start around 4am....good grief, it is still bouncing down now and blowing an absolute hoolie out there this morning!

Tom was supposed to go out and get some groceries this morning, but we really don`t need anything, so we`ll leave it till tomorrow when it should be better.

One of our friends dropped in later last night with some lovely muffins and a soft ginger cake, so will have a couple of muffins and my usual tea for breakfast, another home made soup for lunch and plan to do make a quiche for dinner tonight. Pastry is easy to make and quite soft to eat, will do mushroom, bacon and leek which is a favourite of ours, Tom often asks for me to make it.

But she popped in after being at the psychic evening, she said it was very good and I`d have enjoyed it, I am sorry I missed it. She said to me the psychic looked right at her during her reading and said you have a friend missing tonight and I`m sensing mouth issues.....I looked at her and said....really????? She laughed and said no ya silly moo of course she didn`t......lol...fell for it :rotfl:

So, food is sorted for the day and we have plenty of goodies around the house for our little pots of tea throughout the day!

But, loks absolutely miserable out there and winds have to get much worse later. A day for cosying in for sure.

Happy Thursday though......

Ah that Thirsty Thursday is here. Frost warnings again. And you’d think so. Ooh what a clear sky does. 29 degrees as I made DH toss out that trash. Too cold out there for me this early morning. Ah yes, and house warmer now that it turned on to be warmer just before we get moving. But good for older one for that hard freeze temp. With this below freezing temp overnight, most of what keeps pollen in the air will be stopping now. But he still needs to keep medicating, as time of year, many keep plants inside. Why plants inside my home became plastic from around older one turning three. I’m thankful the various pills and sprays cocktail of both prescriptive and OTC he’s taken since his allergy first gave him asthma, have made him able to manage his allergic reactions.

Full day sun said the weather guy. Yay! Glorious sunrise it should be. No red skies I think. And will be nice to be back on standard time this Sunday at 2am.

And so, that teapot is not as full as on my second cup. Was thirsty as I woke up. Time of year we turn our heater’s humidifier to winter. May also tell older one to turn on his own room humidifier while he sleeps.

Hope all have that most perfect Thirsty Thursday today. And glad to hear Schumi is doing well with her oral surgery. And hope Robo soon gets news boot not needed. Sending well wishes mummy dust to both of you.

Morning, glad everyone is on the mend.
Dreading my day today as I am wallpapering a 16 foot high coffered ceiling this morning.
Finalized rides for this weekend, DW got a new minivan to break in.
She hasn't ridden the new Mummy so she's excited.

It’s cold and will be staying in the house today.
Will send Mr Mac to the grocery store.

I did that with Tom this morning, he`s good, he doesn`t even need a list! He does come back with extra though than what we need.....always goodies!!!

Hibernating again, although it is brightening up a little, but still cold.

Lunch is home made butternut squash soup, blended with some lovely stuff and going to do us a slice of French Toast each to go with it.

Then Tom is going to put some movies on for us this afternoon, that`ll work for me!

I think winter has arrived. I had to scrape ice off my car this morning.

My boss has done something to the computer this morning and I can’t figure out how to fix it. When I came in she was scanning some papers. Now whenever I scan something to the computer it is automatically named “bank documents”. I hope she can tell me what she did.

The conversation about Edgar Allan Poe reminded me that there is a Poe museum in Richmond. I should go visit sometime.

I was going to wrap B’s birthday present today, but all of our boxes and paper is in the garage, on a high shelf, behind boxes of Christmas decorations. Guess I’ll stop by Dollar Tree on my lunch hour today.

Supposed to hit mid 40s here. Tired of waiting it out, need to grab potatoes for beef stew. Opened 10# bag up and one first three I started to peel all. Had a funky smell. Into the trash

Nice the mr made bacon & eggs for breakfast yum.

I think you have her confused with someone else. B took ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop (briefly) but not step dancing. I think she would have loved step dancing, but I don’t know anyone who teaches it here.
Not clogging either? No idea why I associated that with you lol

The writing style is surely different
What a carry on with your pharmacy!
Oh it got better this am

Woke by call from eye dr manager. She wanted to make sure I had received the RX

I was told the pharmacy had called them twice to reissue the RX. Said they declined as they had a confirmation # they had received it

Not sure what that means maybe fax related?

Said they’ve had complaints re that site from other patients too.

d and said no ya silly moo of course she didn`t......lol...fell for it :rotfl:

Good for some relief there For him. IMO the only good thing about that first frost

Been in bit of tizzy. Did I see he had a BD recently?
today as I am wallpapering a 16 foot high coffered ceiling this morning.
Not sure which is worse, wallpaper or climbing a ladder that high Eek
Guess I’ll stop by Dollar Tree on my lunch hour today.
The best solution lol

Keisha, his 26th birthday is this weekend. So you didn’t miss it. Was a beautiful day like today, when he was born. His birthday is predicted to be cloud covered and close to 60 degrees. That I’m glad about, as means this cold front moves out by then. Ack, got to keep those potatoes in a cool place. We got these little ones, which we ate quite quickly. I like to nuke them in the microwave to have a fast baked potato. Yum to bacon and eggs. And crazy your story of prescription issues. Since Walgreens moved out, only have CVS around. We do mail order most of the time.

Hmm what for lunch? Not sure. I may make my lunchtime walk very quick. 45 degrees out now. Hello cold front. At least you gave me such beautiful blue skies.

That would be so interesting, definitely go if you get the chance. I was annoyed to discover the man himslef spent a lot of time in the area I grew up in, he lived in the town Tom was born in, but there is never anything about that in the history of our area, it was never mentioned. As someone who loves literature I felt very disappointed that it wasn`t ever celebrated by anyone in school or in the historical societies.

Hope your frost doesn`t last long and good luck with the computer!

What a drama over the meds!!! Honestly, you couldn`t make it up.

Yep, I`d have chucked them in the trash too.....veg that`s gone off.....bleurgh!!

lol....I am so gullible at times....honestly, my eyes were wide open in complete appreciation of this psychic......then she gleefully burst my wee bubble.......lol......Tom was like, c`mon Carole.....really!!!! haha

Still raining here, hailstones and high winds too. It`s a joy being in a cosy house looking out at it today. Lamps have been on since around 2.50pm and right now, it`s getting so dark, not even 4.30 yet.......

Doing roast turkey slices in cranberry gravy, mashed potatoes with leeks and mustard through it with some roast parsnips. Lush!!!

Is it time to eat yet....... 😉

The weekend is on the horizon!!!! I can see it now - except it's my weekend to work. Honestly - I don't mind working weekends in fall/winter and spring. It's working weekends in our short summers that I always hate working.

It's another incredibly mild morning here. I'll take it all!

I am on the hunt for little things for granddaughter so that I can build her a little advent calendar. I found the cutest advent calendar box that you fill yourself that can be resued each year. The boxes are pretty tiny - so it won't fit much. If I can't find much to fill it - I'll take it back to HomeSense/HomeGoods. Then I'll make one with cups glued to a canvas - and cover the cups with tissue paper. It's just not as aesthetically pleasing. This will be taking up my lunches for the next week!

My eye work starts soon, well it’s been a long wait as the surgeon has a long list to do before he has an opening for me.

Gosh - I will send many healing thoughts that you heal quickly. It will be great once it's healed and you can see clearly again!!!!
Sending you big hugs that you sold the house. It is never easy losing a family member. You had something to deal with that you didn't want to- but it's done now.
Lol all the neighbors craning their necks to see what all the fuss was about, I’m sure
YUP!!!!! Wondering what the redneck family of the street is up to now

That quiche sounds lovely!!!!! I'm glad you are taking it easy - and that Tom is not letting you do too much! Crossing my fingers for you that your healing keeps going smoothly.
Finalized rides for this weekend, DW got a new minivan to break in.
She hasn't ridden the new Mummy so she's excited.
Enjoy the parks!!!!!!! I can't wait to ride the Mummy on our next trip. It was closed for updating when we were there last.
I think winter has arrived. I had to scrape ice off my car this morning.
Sigh - that is not fun. Hopefully it starts to warm up a bit again.

Well, I should go find some papers to shuffle. Not much to do today - since month end is now complete.

Have a great day everyone!

lol...change of plan for dinner tonight, when it`s been so miserable we decided on a winter warming dish instead of quiche.

That sounds lovely for your GD, you`ll make it very pretty I`m sure and it`ll be something she`ll cherish for a long time.

Thanks, getting better by the minute it seems, much better than I`d heard it would be. My husband is still pampering me though....bless him!!

Have a good one Pumpkin...... ☺️

Thanks Robbie.....yes, the Halloween party was wonderful. The ladies that volunteer to bake/cook for these village events never look for anything and honestly always feel guilty for taking the gift vouchers presented to us, well most of us do!! I know I`ll wait and discreetly donate it back to the church Christmas Fayre where they have a tombola every year, that`ll be a nice little prize along with the other donations.

Glad you had a nice time with the little guy and that he still loves minions. I saw little Elise last weekend (friends granddaughter) and asked if she wanted be to bring her back something Miniony from our trip and she informed me Minions are for babies now......she`s a very grown up almost 6 lol......

Doing much better thanks Janet.....

Loving your Halloween decorations, you put a lot of work into it and looks fabulous!!

But, creep alert!!! Holy moly.....can`t she just enjoy your display and move on!!! Sounds like she was trying to one up you there.....I know that feeling!!!! Yes, get those cameras on extra alert next year!!! There`s always one, but sounds like you had a lovely evening and kids would be delighted!!

My evening was a little bit different.

Dentist and his assistant were brilliant, it was a little bit daunting seeing them all gowned up as if it was surgery!! Tom sat in reception chatting to the receptionist so his time passed quickly. A 1 hour appointment and it wasn`t particularly fun, but it`s done.

On the way home we were going to go to a grocery store that has a pharmacy to get the 7 day antibiotic course, but we were into our journey when the numb wore off and I said nope, straight home. Got the strong pain relief going and thank goodness it eased off within half an hour. Fought going to sleep till I could take two more then went to bed and slept straight through till around 9am. No wonder it tells you these things are highly addictive and only take them for up to 3 days. Tom went for the prescription this morning so course started and thankfully I don`t need any pain relief this morning.

But, got to take it easy today (no hardship) so Tom will do everything while I lay along the sofa.....should have my tiara on really!! It`s miserable outside, cold and rainy so I`m happy to be housebound today and probably tomorrow being pampered.

November 1st though.......I can say we go to Orlando this month!!!!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday ☺️
