Disney Visa called today to ask about some charges. It looks like someone used my cc to order $600.00 worth of merchandise from Circuit City and got $300.00 from Western Union. Circuit City stopped the order from shipping and the fruad department at DV is looking into the Western Union transaction.

My husband and I both have our cards so they weren't stolen. I'm just glad Disney Visa called before the thieves made more charges.

This happened to me with my discover card. Someone tried to get a cash advance on it ($500), but discover picked up on fraud right away, so the transaction never went through. Someone just had the number too. We both had our cards. I was very impressed with how quickly discover acted on it. Of course, I was a little upset when I couldn't use my card at the grocery store. I got home and called them and they told me what had happened.

Scary!!

Nice to see they were right on top of it though!::yes::

Wow that is horrible! I am soo sorry, but as the pp said..Thank goodness they called you about it!

I had that happen once...someone called in presciptions to the ER pharmacy once.
Turns out my card was "CLONED" at a resaurant Iwas dining at with my best girl.(at the time) the night before

Darn them:mad:

Same thing happened to me in Nov. It was also my Disney card and my DS and myself both had our cards. Bank One called and left a voice message. I called back and listened to my charges. Three of them were not mine. I then spoke to a Customer Rep. and she took care of everything. I received a new card in about 2 weeks (luckily I had another credit card). They also removed the charges from my statement. The charges were investigated. You will probably have to sign a paper stating that they were not your charges - we did. I received a letter a few months later stating that the investigation was complete and that I was not responsible for the charges.

Glad they caught it. My Visa number was also cloned at a local restaurant and sold. Someone in Brazil started charging hundreds of dollars of auto parts down there. Bank One looked into it, but the Brazilian banks refused to cooperate with them. Got a new account from Bank One.

That's scary for something like that to happen, but glad that it was looked into and the company is helping you with your situation.

I got my card in April, and my own charges have been so crazy and random, I don't know how they could tell if someone was using it fraudulently. It is good to hear the Bank One people are on top of things.

WOW! I had someone get my debit card around Christmas last year, and after they bought something, a lot of stuff started to bounce in my account. Luckily, Wachovia took care of all of it for me, and got my stolen money back. It's unreal what people will do for money these days.

People get arrested for this all the time! The punishment is not really that bad and they know it. That's why it goes on as much as it does. Pretty sad, I think.

Ive got someone who keeps using my card........................its the wife lol:)

Seriously though, credit card fraud is everywhere and it makes me wonder sometimes why I have them.

One major problem here in the UK is ID hijacking. Many householders are now shredding all documentation that has their name or address on it.

Theives are routing in peoples garbage bins, looking for documents and info that will enable them to take on their ID,therefore getting credit in that persons name.

Many of the culprits are the asylum seekers and illegal immigrants that have made their way into the country from Rumania,Russia,Albania etc.

A friend of mine left her purse in the car one time and was gone about 30 minutes. She returned to find her window broken and her purse gone. She called the police and the credit card company right away (her DH still had his copies of the cards in his wallet). The thief had already used her cards to buy over $1000 in cigarettes at a convenience store. At first I thought the guy had a really bad habit but the police told her they will turn around and sell them from the trunk of their car. I was shocked at the lengths people will go to in order to make money.

I'm glad it wasn't worse for you!

During our recent trip to Florida we charged some furniture to our Visa card. Since we live, full time, in NH, BankOne left a message on my NH answering machine and would not accept the charge until I called and confirmed that it was legitimate. They made a note that there would be numerous charges from FL and that it would be OK to accept them. I appreciate their monitoring.

We also get a copy of our credit report annually to check that there are no unfamiliar cards or accounts listed there. I knew someone who was a victim of identity theft by his tenant. It took years to straighten out his credit and to convict the thief. This stuff really scares me.

I have online access to view my Visa card so I go out there everyday to be sure I don't have any charges that don't belong to me. I don't think I'd like waiting for my monthly bill anymore to see if there are any charges that don't belong to me.

I feel for you...it happened to me also. I had my debit card the entire time, but someone got a hold of the number. They ordered some very expensive designer merchandise, which ended up being returned to the store, so there were no losses there. I called to report the card stolen on a Friday and they didn't put it through until Monday (unbeknownst to me). In the meantime, they had ordered more very expensive designer merchandise over the weekend. I FINALLY got the card cancelled and was recouped for my losses.

I have online banking too, but since this was over a holiday, no one was available to help.

The bank put a hold on my card a few weeks ago cause they were questioning a charge for one of my sons bills that i put on my card. It needed to be paid right away so he gave me the cash and put it on my card. I'm glad that bank one is on top of these things. As soon as i confirmed that it was my charge they put the card back on active.

I also check my account online daily like Snoozan. The fraudulent charges had not shown up online before BankOne called me.
