I'm starting to get frustrated that Disney World continues to cater more to girls. First of all, no villain character meals, the Fantasyland expansion and now I'm reading that the only standard rooms at AoA are in the Little Mermaid section. Don't they think about these things at all? I mean why couldn't the only standard rooms be something gender neutral, like Nemo? It doesnt make sense to me.

Thanks just venting!

I totally agree with u. was there last wk with my ds(9) and it did suck that all the good charater meals r geared either for girls or younger childern. we did do chef mickeys and he just wasnt into as much as he was last time. i'm hoping they come up with a charater meal for boys.

Yes I do agree with you in that the boys activities are limited. My DS would love a Toy Story character breakfast with Woody and Buzz:) I felt so bad last year when we went because I wanted to see the princesses and he went along with me to Akershus and 1900 Park Fare where he did the waltz with Cinderellapixiedust: He said he would go because mommy wants to go:flower3:

As the mom of 4 boys, I agree. What about a pirates character meal? Or Phinneas and Ferb? Even my older boys would still like that. They will still get there picture with Mickey, but we have stopped doing character meals. The only two we would consider again is Garden Grill and Crystal Palace because we really enjoyed the food.

My 4 sons and 2 of my daughters agree with you! I only have 1 girly-girl lol. Thankfully my girly-girl is now 13 1/2 and is past the character meals. My older boys are 4, 5, and 6 years older then the oldest girls, and they absolutely hated getting dragged to princess dinners. The princesses always found some way to embarrass them as preteens and teens! My youngest boy is almost 7, so he missed most of the fun, but his brothers keep threatening to book a dinner in Norway or GF and marry him off to a princess!

I have to say I think that would be great; including a picture of the 4 of them with Perry t-shirts.

By the way, my closest childhood friend was a "Nolan", but married a "Griffith." She had three boys, and she is a "boy mom" in my opinion.

Their last name is Griffith, but they always be Nolan Boys to me. Thanks for your post!

I totally agree with you!!! I would love to see a pirate dinner or a pixar dinner featuring Woody, Buzz, Mike W., Flik, etc.

I agree. But, then again, it also drives me crazy that the ratio of girl's clothing racks to boys is 10:1 when I go shopping! I'm assuming people just spend more money on girls, as much as I hate to say it.

As a Mom of 5 boys, those are the only 2 character meals we are going to at the end of August. I wish Disney had something more for boys, pirates, cars, Phineas and Ferb..anything! Although, we did eat in the Castle for supper in 2005, prior to it being a character meal, they loved it.

Look at it this way Op, I tend to save way more money because every thing is so "girl" specific. the only souvenirs my kids wanted was Indiana Jones stuff and some star wars things.

They are some great "animal" characters (Pooh, tigger, chip etc) and we have a few pics with Jack sparrow and captain hook.

I've always thought that disney really missed the boat with their villians. with all the awesome bad guys, I think the opportunities are endless.

I would love to see Buzz & Woody, Peter Pan, 7 dwarfs, Captain Hook, all the Prince, Gaston and John. I would like to see Jiminny Cricket and Pinocchio at character meals. Instead of LM, I think Peter Pan w/ Wendy, Tink, John, Michael, and Smee and Hook would have been a better choice. It can go either way.. boy or girl theme.

I've often thought tha Little Mermaid was a poor choice for the only single room section at AoA. There are many gender neutral movies they could have picked.

I so agree! I have two boys, and in planning our firsr vacation I was dissapointed to find very few non-princessy character meals. They aren't much into pooh, so other than Mickey and his friends there seems to be a lack for us. It is too bad they can't use the Marvel Characters east of the Mississippi, I would pay for a Marvel Superhero character meal in a heartbeat! My boys would LOVE that. A Pixar Character meal would be great too!

I think the trouble is that most of the stuff aimed towards boys includes stuff some little girls might like too, but the stuff for girls are things most little boys don't want any part of. My DS included.

They have Pirate rooms at CBR I believe. The have a fishin hole and a pirate adventure at POR. That Jedi training thing at HS. While not boy exclusive, they are aimed more to boys.

Heck I'm a 33 year old woman with no kids and I am always disappointed that there's not more stuff for boys or even more neutral stuff! I can't handle all those princesses :crazy2:

yeah, I'm thinking Disney totally misses the mark with boys. What is sad is that they have such opportunity to make it great. I mean, just imagine if they did a Star Wars character meal! That would be a harder ticket to get than Cinderella's!! (yeah, I know that probably won't be possible, but if they do Star Wars weekends, why not?!) DS9 is a lover of all things Disney, and when he was about 3 and 4, he liked the princesses...now, it's the first place we go when he isn't behaving, it's enough of a deterrent of bad behavior! We just stopped doing character meals a couple of years ago because there was nothing he wanted to see, and with the way prices have gone up at those buffets, can't say I'm sad to see them go. But with the Fantasyland expansion, it's just all princess all the time. They definitely need to up the offerings for boys.

I would agree that there is more for girls than boys at WDW.

They do have the pirate rooms at CBR, which I think would be more appealing to a boy than a girl.

I have six children - 2 of them are boys ages 4 and 14. I agree that there should be more aimed at boys, but Disney is all about profit. So it must not make them as much money. I would absolutely love them to do a Toy Story meal. That would be awesome, and it could appeal to both boys and girls if they add Jessie.

Also, there is a pirate room at CBR, and the Pirate's League, as well as the Jedi Training. So they have some things.

I think AoA does a good job of being a place for boys too. The cars area is great! Lion King and Nemo have male main characters. The Little Mermaid is more girly, but the rooms are blue and the pictures in the room itself are not girly. They are Prince Eric and Sebestian, I believe. My DS4 loves, loves, loves, cars annd Nemo so I am thrilled about that, but I do agree that they should have done Little Mermaid as a family suite and a neutral character as the standard room.

I understand your frustration. Maybe if enough people request it, or if more people do the boy specific activities, they will add more. And they should.

As a mom to three boys, I absolutely agree. I am dragging along my boys to 1900 Park Fare in November though. I do wish they had a boys option in the resorts character meals.
