8/5 in disney My daughter and her friend and mother and i were on vacation together all was great. The last day in epcot we were in the restaurant bathroom. the first restaurant to the left after you come in. My daughter wasn't feeling herself. She had a great black disney hat with about 10 pins on it she hung it on the back of the door to go to the bathroom. well you all know what is coming next she left it. we walked off and didn't get to far when we realized. We went back gone. so it had to be a women or girl. How do you steal from a child??? I was soooo dissapointed in people in general we went to lost & found the hat turned up later but no pins! I hope the person who stole them has the same thing happen to them some day. Hard lesson for the girls to learn.

Are you sure it didn't get dropped off at lost and found? I am sure you checked but if I found something like that I would have taken it there. I am sorry that this happened. I hope it didn't ruin your trip. Oh and it is not too late to check lost and found. You can have it sent if they have it!

no we didn't let it ruin our trip. just very dissapointed in some people. the hat was turned in no pins on it. we asked then and i called a week ago no pins. My daughter is 10 she was telling a cm girl in canada and she gave her one of her pins so it made us all feel a little better.

I missed the part where you said you got the hat back. Some people suck! They will get the same done to them someday because it all comes back around!
At least there was a nice CM in Canada.

My DD did the same thing with a fanny pack. We went back within a minute or two and there was someone in the stall. My DD asked if there was a fanny pack still in there and at first was told no but when DD said it was just a minute ago and her parents were waiting outside the woman handed the fanny pack under the door. She had already readjusted it to fit herself. So I am sure we were lucky and just got there in time.

We have turned many things into lost and found including a pocketbook full of cash, credit cards and passes. Have to admit to being tempted with the cash but I know how bad I would feel losing that much not to mention all the headache for canceling and replacing all the cards, passes and licenses. Besides, I feel much better having done the right thing. Sorry you did not have the same luck.

Someone took my son't sword off the carraige while we were in It's a small world. The CM in the store we had just bought it at was nice enough to give him another one.

She had already adjusted the fanny pack?!
I would have waited for her to come out and then I would have let her know she was about to steal from a CHILD! Shame on her! She is definately NOT a Diser, that's for sure!

We were in WS in Epcot on Saturday and someone left their Disney squirt bottle fan with a few pins on it on the table at the Kidcot station. My kids were the only ones at the table so I knew it didn't belong to anyone in the immediate area. All I could think about was that some child somewhere was probably getting yelled at for losing $50 worth of stuff. Needless to say, I turned it in to the castmember working the table. I hope that whoever left it remembered where and came back to get it.

Sorry to hear about your rotten luck. What nerve, she was actually adjusting the strap to fit her own ***! Kind of reminds me of the time when I was about 10 years old and had my boots stolen from, of all things, a mother/daughter luncheon at our church. I saw an elderly lady walking out wearing a pair of boots that looked like mine, but didn't think there were mine until I went to get my stuff. My boots were missing! Guess I'm lucky she left me my coat. In a church, at that! Just shows you can't trust ANYONE--in our church I routinely take my purse with me when we go up to the alter for communion. I've had some people comment on that to the effect of "don't I trust my church family?" My long answer is the above boots story. My short answer is "no". You can't let your guard down anwwhere!

If you leave something behind, such as leaving your purse on the table and walking out of the restaurant with your party, anything you left behind is your loss. Anyone recovering anything that they were careless enough to leave behind should consider themself blessed.

IMHO, there is ONE exception to this rule. If you happen to SEE someone drop something, or see them leaving something behind, it's only fair to say something to them. Other than that, finders keepers ... If you have lost something due to carelessness, maybe it will serve you as a lesson to be more carefull with your stuff

Wow, you're one tough cookie. In my book, if you didn't buy it or it wasn't given to you and it's obvious that it isn't yours, turn it in to lost and found. If no one claims it, then it's yours.

glad my kids don't have you as a parent and i sincerely hope never to be in a park the same time as you. If something isn't yours, it isn't yours. period. theres a difference between finding a tenner laying on the ground (which there's no way you can find the owner of) and finding a fanny pack, hat or purse (someone can certainly identify it and claim it as theirs). Not only does turning something in to lost and found set a good example for *your* kids, it sets an example to the person who is lucky enough to have their item at the lost and found when they ask.

Some people are just plain rude. It's the "finders keepers" attitude that can really ruin someone's vacation. I always bring lost items to a CM while at WDW.

...Hmmmm... Ok.

I guess I am naive enough to want this to be a perfect world.

The Sweetness,
I understand what you are saying. But as we ALL know, WDW is so overwhelming and there is something going on all the time and you get caught up in that.
Throw a bunch of kids into the picture and I praise parents who are able to NOT lose anything. It is hard to live in this world and not trust anyone.

I agree with SetzKitten.
I was raised to beleive that I shouldn't keep anything that isn't mine. Even things at lost and found that aren't claimed. In that case I think it should be donated to a shelter becuse there are those less fortunate who aren't able to live the Disney magic :wizard:

Wow, I was very suprised at the tough post by 'Sweetness'.
Wouldn't this world be a nicer place if everyone helped each other instead of trying to be out for themselves?
I'm sorry Sweetness, I hope this didn't come across as too harsh... but I was saddened by the post. I sincerely hope nothing ever happens to ruin your happiness, whether or not it was your fault and whether or not you learn your lesson from it.

That's certainly not the way we live our lives. It's completely dishonest to take something that isn't yours - period.

WOW! You must not have ever had to explain your belief to a very sad child. My feeling is this, I didn't pay for it, it doesn't belong to me! Now if I were to find a $5 bill on the ground and there was no way to know who it belonged and there was no ID with it then that is one thing. But if I find a bag of merchadise or a purse or wallet then it is my obligation to turn it in. And if this item belongs to a child shame on whoever takes it!
As far as that woman lying right to a child that her fanny pack was NOT in the stall, I hope she is embarrassed to be caught. Not only did she think of taking it from a child without trying to find out who is belonged to,but she tried stealing it right out from under her!

You're joking - right? You must just be some poor soul who doesn't get much attention and the negative comments you are getting in response is just what you were looking for.

I feel sorry for you!

It's terrible when it happens to anyone. A child losing something is one thing but if an adult lost something that they had waited and saved for could be worse.

You don't know everyones story so the best advice is to turn it in to lost and found. I know it gives me a good feeling to something good for someone else.

many years ago my DS was about 6 and he lost his goofy hat(the one with the long dangaly long ears.

We were at EPCOT going through the countries and were around UK when we noticed it was missing.
we went into UK and asked

sure enough someone had been nice and the CM had it behind the counter!!!:D

so if you're reading this kind person it happend in 1985!!!

a great big DIS thank you you made one little boy very happy!!!!
