it's 35 degrees outside and someone in my office had the air conditioner on?? :confused3

I'm sitting in my office just getting colder and colder and finally get up to check the thermostat thinking it's on the fritz again.

No. Someone had the air on.

I swear...I DO NOT understand people's thought processes.

Um.......well, considering I just had a hysterectomy I totally understand why someone would have the air cond on.
My internal thermostat is way way wayyyy whackadoodle right now. It can be freezing cold and I'm breaking into a sweat and just the opposite as well. It can be roasting in the house and I'm looking for an extra sweatshirt.

Probably someone is hormonal. I'm not...yet. I'm the cold one in the office. However, several are menopausal and the air is on when it is freezing outside. I just bring a sweater. It is easier than fighting a woman w/ major hormone issues. You just don't want to go there.

Or...someone does not know how to "slightly" adjust the thermostat. Some people go by and just barely move it. Others go by and give it a good whack.

But, most likely...hormones. Bring a sweater.

Because the temperature outside has virtually nothing to do with the temperature inside a well-insulated building. If someone had the heat up earlier, I've been in many buildings that needed the AC on in order to bring it back to a level where people weren't roasting.

May I suggest keeping a sweater at work? You can always put that on, but the people in your office who are hot would cause a commotion if they started stripping down to bare skin in an effort to not overheat.

I am wearing two sweaters, the one I wore to work and the one I keep for emergencies. Some of my employees have their coats on.

I am all for being supportive of the hormonal people, but there are dozens of employees in this office, not just one.

And BTW, this building is by no means well insulated. It's ancient.

could it have something to do with the location of the thermostat? in an office i worked in the thermostat was located on the wall the photocopier was up against, so once the copier got going in the morning the air temp. raised and the a/c would kick in (as we were shivering in our cubicles).

We've got 2 ACs on in my office and I have a fan blowing at my face. It's hot in here.

Well, I'm the hot one in my office. The guys are all wearing fleece jackets over their golf shirts. I share the office with 4 of my staff members. The ACs are really because we have so many file servers in our office that generate a ton of heat. Our ACs work 24X7X365 and it doesn't matter what the temp is outside.

Being cold is one thing. You can add layers. Being hot is an extreme that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

I remember the time I was in the hospital after surgery. I was sharing a room with an old lady who was in because she had not kept her colostomy bag cleaned and she had infection. I woke up from anesthesia burning up. Asked the nurse to turn down the heat (this was in the month of March). She said she had to ask the doc if I could have a humidifier. I said no, I am just hot, turn down the heat. She never got that humidifier...lol. So, another medical personnel walks in and I make same request. Again, I am told the doc needs to make request for humidifier. I said yes, but it is really hot in here, can you please just turn down the heat. She said she could not...that the other lady is cold and wants the heat on and I had to be considerate. I told her I was hot and needed it off and they can give her a blanket! When my husband came in, I asked him to please turn down the heat. It was set at 85 degrees! Exactly what was the humidifier going to do for me? :scratchin

Malificent I feel for you. Last year my work was so cold we were sewing with our jackets and gloves on. It was the exact opposite of a sweat shop. :sunny: Its so hard to get work done when you just want to curl up in a ball due to being cold. I realize it also stinks to be hot, but I can imagine it's hard for anyone to get any work done in that office. My situation was not due to anyone touching the thermostat, but another person in another building (possibly in another state) though the temperature was just fine.

Is that person pregnant?

I am warm all the time right now. At night it is just awful. My husband has an extra blanket on the bed and wears thermals to sleep because I keep the house freezing cold. Last night I switched on the ceiling fan too and still got hot. I am usually easy going with the temperature, but I can relate if it is something hormonal!

It's 80 here today in Houston and I think we actually have the heat on because it is H-O-T in my office.

That's why I can't get any work done and I have to just read the DIS boards instead!!

DH always runs the fan at fullblast at night when I'm usually snuggled under TWO blankets AND a comforter to keep from freezing my tookis off.
