Someone explain this to my brain- pleezzzz

I went back to reading old posts on use years/borrowing points and my mind was swirling. (It didn't take much. ) We have a December use year. If I want to make reservations for next May, am I able to call now and book or will it be borrowing points because I won't receive 2005 points until Jan 1.? We do not have any 2004 points available due to use and current reservations.
Are the 12 month windows tied to the month you receive your points?

Remember...when your use year is has NOTHING to do with when you can make ressies. You will have the points in May, so MS can see that and you can make your ressies anytime within your booking window (7 months non-home or 11 months home).

However, unless I am mis-understanding your post...May 2005 is your 2004 use year. So, if you are making ressies for May 2005 and all of your 2004 points are gone, then yes you will be borrowing. If, however you are asking about May 2006, then you can use the points you receive in Dec 2005, but that ressie will not be available for you to make until June 2005 for your home resort.

It sounds as though you have used your Dec, 2003 Use Year points and will get your next allotment on Dec 1, 2004. These points may be used for reservations between Dec 1, 2004 and Nov 30, 2005. As long as you have enough points for a reservation during those dates, you won't need to borrow.

You may call now to reserve next May using the points you will have available at that time (Dec 1, 2004).

Calendar years and Use Years are often confused. Our annual fees are based on the calendar year, but our Use Year is different. You have not yet received your 2004 Use Year points (unless you already borrowed them).

Go ahead and call MS tomorrow and make that May reservation, you'll have the points you need without borrowing!

WHEN you can make a reservation is based on the calendar -- 11 months from check-out; 7 months from check-out.

However, you also need to have the points available for the time of the reservation.

Let's walk through it:

December 1, 2003 you received points that are good through November 30, 2004.

On December 1, 2004 you receive points that are good through November 30, 2005.

Are the "2004 points" you have already spent the ones you received on December 1, 2003? Have you also borrowed the December 1, 2004 points for trips this year?

If you haven't borrowed the 12/1/2004 points, those can be used for your May 2005 trip. You can call and book your home resort tomorrow. You will have to wait for the 7 month window to book other resorts.

If you have used your 12/1/2004 allotment, you can still call and book but you will have to "borrow" from your 12/1/2005 amount.
