He found him through the flyer we put up at the animal shelter. I have mixed feelings. The dog was friendly towards him but no more so than he is to us. The owner didn't have any good reason why he wasn't wearing tags. He said the dog had his shots but he hadn't sent in the paperwork. Anyway he's gone and I have to confess I miss him.

I know what you mean. I once rescued 2 puppies by the side of a high speed road. They were with us for 2 weeks before the owner finally turned up, very matter-of-fact with his only question, "can I give you a reward?" Uh, noooo. I didn't want a reward, I just wanted to make sure those two great dogs were going to be happy.

When the female got to his car to go home she was just about to jump in when she seemed to think about it for a second, then ran back to me with a kind of "good-bye, good-bye, thanks for everything" wiggle-y greeting. Then she ran back to the car and they were gone. I'd named them Fred and Ethel, and I still think about them ::MinnieMo

It's hard to let them go, isn't it? I hope those doggies have a happy life.

I'm glad he found his owner - hopefully..... He sounded like such a sweet doggie!

Whoa, you just reminded me that miss maggie is running around the house without her collar or tags on too. Eeek! I gave her a bath and forgot to put the collar back on when she was dry.

Marlasmom-

My neighbor is a real estate agent. He rescued a dog that he found while shoing a parcel of land a few weeks ago. He took it to the vet as it was limping, the vet removed bb's from the dogs leg--poor thing had been shot. The dog was emaciated and flea infested as well. My neighbor brought her home and nursed her back to health.

She is about 20 pounds, a mixed breed, and such a sweet thing. She is housebroken and heels on a leash and knows basic commands. He can't keep her--he has two dogs already and we have a pet restriction here. WOuld you be interested?

Marla lives right across the street. She has two dogs - both rescue mixed breeds. They live with us when she goes away, when my grandson spends the night - most weekday nights - and when they just visit. She opens her door and they make a beeline for my house. I love them but I really don't think I can take on another one. Also, I will be going to Cleveland when Sarah has her baby mid February. I bet someone would love him though.

No problem, it just seemed like you might be interested. She's such a peach that I'm sure she'll get a new home. I'd love to take her, but realisitcally my lifestyle doesn't work with a dog. I sometimes can be gone from 7:00am until after midnight, I travel a lot, and I just don't have the itme to properly care for a dog right now. Besides my new ferret, Pudge, gets here tomorrow :)
