Someday: the Sequel! A Dec 2013 PTR

Ok, I am sure by now you have all seen the new inter-active Mickey hats. :cool1: I think they are super cool!! I am sure Brenda and Gavin will each want a pair. What I am wondering is, will they light when we are home? I know they won't do a fancy dancing light show, but a solid light. Does that sound like a dumb question???:scratchin

They work off a frequency similar to a remote control so I am thinking they wouldn't work at home unless there a a switch you could turn on.

I knew about the frequency "thing". :rotfl: I was just wondering if they had thought ahead enough to make them able to be turned on at home. I am more willing to buy 2 sets if they light when we get home. I'll be a happy mom if they do turn on at home. :woohoo:

I hope they can work at home. I think someone told me they did, but I can't remember who.....darn it.

HERE IS THE INFO I HAVE FOUND ON THE "GLOW WITH THE SHOW EARS":

* They light up anywhere, there is a sliver button on one of the ears that is an on/off switch. No synchronization to music or anything unless you are in a park.

* The ears take 3 AAA batteries. The compartment can only be opened up with a very small screw driver.

* The batteries from what I have read work about 8 hours? I would be bringing extra batteries if I was planning on purchasing these.

:dance3: :dance3: Oh!!!! You have so just made my day!!!! :dance3: :dance3:

I actually popped over to share a funny thing with you all... well, kinda funny! I already shared with Tracy but...

Oh my gosh! I almost just gave everything away.... I started to tell Brenda that maybe she would want to save her bracelet money and do "pick a pearl" in Disney. Luckily I didn't get it all out before I realized what I was saying! Oh my! It's going to be a long month and a half!!!! :scared:

We plan on telling Brenda and Gavin next month. We can't come up with a good way to do it just yet. I had wanted to take the kids to Disney on Ice while it is in Hershey on Oct 20 and spilling the beans there... but I just don't see $100 of disposable cash 4 days after our trip needs to be paid off. So I am trying to come up with a really cool way to break the news and make it something they will remember. We did get the Grey Disney World 2013 sweatshirts to give them on the day we tell them. They were a great buy over the summer. If you all have any ideas, do share!!!

FINALLY!

I could not get to your PTR from my phone (sometimes it really hates me!) and I have limited time on the computer. I have two short people in the house that seem to think the laptop belongs to THEM! Every time I would pass it off to one of them I would remember I needed to look up your PTR...and they would refuse to give it up!

Any way, I know all too well about being told your child would not make it... our Mr D has defied all the odds and everything the doctors said after his accident. He is still a challenge, but I much prefer a challenge to the alternative!

We will be at POFQ from Nov 30 to Dec 9...hurry up and post your daily stuff so I can see when we can meet up!!!

Welcome, Nini!! I really am trying to plug away at the days. The problem is life has gotten very busy lately. Gavin's birthday is THURSDAY! :hyper: So I was planning a BIG party... till he told me he didn't want a party. He wants to go away for the day... well, we'll go away for Sunday! So my little many has been driving me crazy!

I promise to get back to this soon! I also know that some of you have asked about Brenda's bracelets. I will post of picture of them soon!

I'm not good with secrets/surprises, so we don't even try! Our girls have known for months and Catie even knows that March=Disney… poor thing just doesn't know when March is! :cool1:

COOL... Mr D's birthday is Wednesday...yikes TOMORROW! We are having a family party on Saturday...he got to choose the restaurant. This is the first year that the idea of a calendar has sunk in...I usually can let it slip up until Dad is off and we can celebrate... this year they go over the calendar every morning and count down the days to an important day...Mr D's day is the one they are counting down to...

For three years we have managed to have his birthday at Disney. It was really nice of them to have free dining on his birthday..but Mama enjoys the Christmas decorations a little too much.

Can't have parties for him, he gets too over stimulated and crashes...not a pretty sight.

Can't wait to read some updates.... but I totally understand about life getting in the way... the only way I really get computer time is to get up at 4.... none of the short people seem to want to get up this early!

I'm so glad you asked that question about the glow ears, I was wondering but was too busy yet to explore for answers! I guess batteries and and eyeglass screwdriver is being packed in my bags.

Aww, I knew Gavin had medical issues, but he sounds like he knows already that he must learn to live with and try to be as happy as he can. I wish more people in the world had such a good attitude.
And Brenda making money on her brackets is awesome!

Keeping the WDW secret is hard, I know I've done it twice now! They are going to be so happy!!

Hello all!!! I have to ask, Does anyone remember me??? You know, the lady that never gets back to her PTR... the way she promises she will??? Well, I am back. :cool1: And I am truly sorry for the long time that it has taken me to get back. I do have to go back and see if I have even introduced myself yet.. yeah I am slow! :rolleyes1

To be honest, it wasn't til yesterday that our trip was set in stone. Yesterday we paid off the trip!!!   Up until that point it could all still fall through. Let me take you back to a time long ago...

OK, well, not that long ago... picture it Summer 2013. Jon and I were sitting on pins and needles waiting for the discounts to roll out so we could put it on our trip. I should also mention that things run rather tight most of the time for our family. Jon works 2 jobs so I can stay home with the kids... I am sure you all have read that before... or else I need to get on with the introductions... :happytv: Anyway, We were sure that our week would have free dining. We took a gamble that it would be the same as in the past... and of course we gambled WRONG! One thing we did do along the way, that was saving us 5% was buying gift cards with our Target Red debit card. Yaaaa for extra savings. So finally discounts were announced and our date was not in them. Our discount would be so small... :( We would have to cancel. :headache: For several days I was in complete tears and Jon and I talked about our need to cancel the trip. We still owed a big portion of things. In the end we decided to change somethings around to save us money. If I hadn't mentioned it before, we were now checking into Disney on Nov 30 and we WERE going to check out on the 10th. Well, we took a day off and are now checking out on the 9th (again), we took off our preferred room and we also downgraded our dining plan. Have no fear though... that was only until we had the trip paid off. We plan on upgrading again, but we needed to be paid off by Oct 16. Downgrading dining for 4 of us saved us a nice sized chunk ($400) and we can upgrade again as long as we do so before Nov 27.

I must tell you, we were VERY unhappy with the discount situation though. Because we booked under old ticket prices, and were charged the new ticket price when we applied the discount, we saved a whopping $35! Heck, we saved more than that on the gift card purchases! :rolleyes2

Speaking of Gift Cards. I have to tell you, the only reason we ended up sticking with going was that we had paid for the entire trip up to that point on $50 Disney Gift Cards. Jon really didn't want to be "stuck" with all those gift cards. So when we talked, Jon broke the bad news... he would need to work even more than he already does... which feels like forever! We would have to cherish each non-working moment we got... which was usually on a Monday or Tuesday evening. So this was going to be a BIG adjustment for all of us. I have to tell you that the last for months have been very difficult on my family. But we also knew that after Gavin's big surgery this summer, we needed this light at the end of the tunnel. We needed some happy family time... and we needed it badly! Even Gavin's surgical staff would ask at each visit to make sure we will still on the game plan of going. Since we have not told the kids, they would have to find interesting ways of asking... including the day Gavin's Surgeon, while Gavin was looking away, made Mickey ears above his head and started to do a little dance behind Gavin's back! :rotfl: Gavin really does have the best Drs in the world!

ok, off to find out where I need to go on this PTR!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for having the trip paid off. That is always a day to celebrate!

I cannot wait until you tell the kids later this month. You best be posting video/reaction, etc.

I'm here...

Just hard to answer on the phone. I can get emails but no other internet while waiting, waiting , waiting in the car pool line! LOL.

So I can read new posts but can't answer until I get home. So...how are your plans coming...have you decided how you are going to reveal?

Nini

Ya for having it paid off. That is always such a good feeling!!!

YAY! I am so happy that you did indeed pay the trip off and you are GOING!!!! :goodvibes That makes me so happy for you!

The DIS has been very quiet lately. I know this is "fall break" for a lot of people. Hang in...people will come if I have to drag them over here. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

:lmao: You must have some secret magical power!!! I was thinking that people had started to get tired of the promises!

I bet that car pool line is enough to drive you crazy sometimes. My kiddos ride the bus, which many days I am thankful for. Although, if the bus is running a few minutes late I start to worry that something happened. One day last year, there was a sub bus driver, and she went flying right by Brenda's stop till she heard me yelling and Brenda was getting out of her seat. My heart seriously stopped for a few minutes.

We aren't 100% sure of all the details yet on the reveal. We do knowif we can make it that long, we are telling them on Oct 27... Although, I have to tell you, I SOOOO wanted to tell them on the pay off day!

Ya for having it paid off. That is always such a good feeling!!!

I told Jon, jokingly of course, that all the people on Prozac just need a pay off day... it completely turns your day around! :rotfl2:

Thank you! It was so scarey for a while. It just hit so hard when we thought we weren't going to go. I do know it will be a VERY, VERY, VERY long time till we get to go again. We have to make the most of every minute of this trip.
