Somebody left the member website unlocked

While surfing I found that a person can access the web site without entering a username or password. I tried to notify MS but a member number is required to even send them a e-mail from the web site. Since we are still waiting to finish closing I'm without a number. My guess is that they already know of this but someone with a membership # may want to send them a e-mail just to be sure. As of this post to access the web site all you have to do is click on the members only button. When you come to the screen asking for user id and password go to the top of the page and click on the small text "disney vacation club".

.... won't let me in without id & pw.

Try clearing your cache/cookies, see what happens.

I've been able to do it on 3 different computers....2 at work and 1 at home. Go to the members log on page and then click the small DVC link at the top. Just checked it and I'm still able to get on.

I think it's a cookies thing...when I try the DVC link at the top of the page...it logs me in as me (I can tell by the countdown timer).

If you've used those computers at work and home to log into DVC before, it should let you in.

I tried what you said, it just seems to recycle back to the general page and not the actual members only pages. Are you sure your not looking at the general pages, those for persepctive buyers? If you think you are accessing the members only pages, try clicking on "My DVC". You shouldn't be able to without a password. If you still get to there, click on Member profile and see who's name appears.

Ok,,,I'm not officially a member yet. We just bought at VWL and are in the closing process. I've never had a member number...and have never logged on to the DVC meber site through the traditional log on screen. I quickly copy and pasted the countdown clock below and the member publications page . I can go anywhere in the site except to update a profile.

I have been entering through Disney.com and clicking on the DVC link. When that page opens, click on members only. You will then see the log on screen. Go to the very top of the screen and click on the small text in the grey border that says disney vacation club and you'll be able to enter.

I just got in, and I'm not a member yet(hope to be by Sept 1). I had never been to the members site before.

Someone should email member services with the info. Additionally Kadorto should edit his message, removing the info on how to access it. I was able to access point charts, cruise costs, etc.

This quirk had been established in another thread.

I don't see much cause for concern. DVD probably has this back door "open" for a reason.

Still, I suppose if non-members see this sensitive information we'll have to kill them.;)

I wasn't too concerned either...didn't see any "classified" info on there. Just thought it was interesting and was unaware of the previous thread. Thanks for proving me right SOCAL...I was beginning to feel a bit like WISBUCKY ;)

No problem. Just checked again, its now closed.

BTW, it's not closed.

Just add /member/memberHome behind dvc in the URL and you're in.

I have no problem going anywhere on this site, and Im not a member. Is there something I cant see? I can see the point charts, points calculator, banking/borrowing, "just for members" menu items ... not that there is anything really there special that someone cant easily find right here on the disboards...

Can I go ahead and book myself a vacation while Im at it?? LOL !!!!!

Well that's great. I'm a member, and can't get my countdown clock to run properly. When I click on the day menu to pick a day, all I see is 1 and 31, everything else in between is blank. :( Thank God for Dis...gotta have my daily fix of days left. :)

Thanks, that worked. At first I was really excited, but really not that much in there. I did see notes stating online booking should be available in 2005.

And I can't get the DVC countdown clock to stay. Everytime I leave and come back to the site I have to reset it. Don't know what good that feature is.

By the way I used the /member/memberHome behind DVC and it let me into the members only section as well.

JimC,

If your browser is set to clear "cookies" at every shutdown, it is wiping the cookie that saves your countdown timer for your next visit.

I just did it but it is taking me into the site but at a "Ownership" section. It is trying to talk you into buying. It looks different than the member section. So it is not a glich I don't think.

TiggerFreak,

Thank you so much! I believe you found the answer.
