I wasn't sure where to post these questions so I figured it was safest in this thread:) I sure hope I get some opinions etc...

So my family hasnt' been to WDW since before Dad died.. we've not been there since 94. And then it was a one day trip to EPCOT...
They've never stayed onsite.. I have twice since.. have only been 2 times int eh past 10 years. Growing up, trips to WDW were annual.

My niece is 2... so for Xmas 2007, I am going to get the family a trip to Disney. Basing the trip on 06 prices (ANY idea when I can find out 2008 prices?) I'm planning to take them in September 08. Lily will be 5 in October of that year. I figure it's the perfect timing for her to go. Also, I went in Sept this past year and the crowds etc were ideal. I thought the park hours were great and we were able to see Spectro!!

My questions are:
I've stayed in Mods but will have to do value to afford 4 adults and a child.. adjoining rooms. All Star Music.. any photos/experiences?

Is there a time in Sept that the parades stop.. ie spectro? Is there a time in Sept that crowds go back up? I'm planning 5 nights/6 days.. when is Sept would YOU recommend?

I wasn't going to get the plus water parks option... I think there is enough to do without going. When I've gone the past 2 times, we've gone to pleasure island. Last time I went I was disappointed. I DEFINITELY want to do DTD but not PI... and I think we'd be fine skipping the water parks... what else will I not get, skipping this deal, aside from DQ.. I've never been there?

ex and I made the mistake of booking many out of park restraunts... we were constanly running. While there are some resort restraunts I"d love my family to experience, I'm going to avoid this, having a 4 year old with us.. what restraunts are NOT to be missed with a little girl this age?

I'm thinking mid to end sept. Lily's bday is Oct 25. Is this WAY too embaressingly early to celebrate her bday at disney? Mom's bday is oct 23 and mine is oct 27.. I was excited reading the cake deliveries etc.. and balloons.. would love to do this for them.. what do you think? too early?

I'd like an evening to take mom to a special restraunt.. something nice and fun we can have an adult girls night out... suggestions?

I'm doing dining plan so any suggestions for restraunts included in the plan would be much appreciated;)

I know I'm asking WAY too far in advance but I"ve been missing WDW a lot lately.. a LOT more than usual and thinking about this trip now is kind of getting me out of my funk. From now til then I"m going to get little knicks and knacks to put together a fun package for them to open Xmas morning.. ie pins, lanyards, auto books for niece, planning books for family, cameras for all (disposable), and CROCS!!!

the more planning now... the better prepared I'll be $$$... and more I'll have to occupy myself! I want this surprise to be 100% PERFECT!!!

the parade use to stop after labor day - but Sept has become more popular - I think it is still going on saturday and monday nights even then. (this is I think).

my nephew and niece get a fall break in Sept. So they go every couple of years....

you might consider renting points from a DVC member and staying in several studios or a 2-bedroom at OKW (it is the cheapest point wise) - but say you might consider BW.

why BWV - because of the BW - lots of people like BW better than PI. Jellyrolls seems to be a big favorite...

now BWV rooms are smaller than OKW - OKW studio has 2 queen beds, BWV has a queen bed and double sleeper sofa - but if you want a fun night life you might consider BWV.

now if you want to go doing a fun time you might reconsider and do Oct - especially if you are considering renting DVC points - now it will be a couple of months before DVC releases the DVC point schedule for 2008 - but it will be pretty soon. I am not expecting any changes. Oct on WDW resort is regular season on DVC it is almost value season.

Oct is the food/wine festavial. but hey the way Disney is making it longer and longer - who know it might up in the middle of Sept by 2008. this year it starts Sept 29 - Nov 12

here is some information on it
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/epcot/events/index.htm

that say I might let your niece enjoy a baby sitter that night.

oh to increase the hotel price add 10% for each year. (now I am hopping it won't rise 10% but it did once - so add that percentage to be on the safe side)

I agree with spiceycat check out renting Dvc, But watch out renting DVC can get you hooked, like I did. I now own at BWV.

Wow thank you this is something I never even considered.. I have no idea where to even start. what is the cost of this? Value hotels were in my budget.. if I push it i MIGHT be able to do moderate... can you tell me more on how safe this is to do and the approx cost?
Thank yoU!

pretty safe.

here is the point chart
http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-vacation-club/DVCpoints.shtml

points rent from $10 to $14 per point depending upon who you rent from.

here is the rental site

I would go with OKW - 8 points a night (sun-thurs) in offseason.

so for 2 studios it would be 16 points - so between $160 and $244 per night.

I would go with OKW because it has 2 queen beds.

the other DVC resorts have a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa.
