Some truths I discovered while camping last week.

Places that boldly advertise "OPEN YEAR ROUND " probably shouldn't be.

Rope swings that drop you into a river are still a lot of fun.

Good weather makes everything easier....and better.

A four hour ride home after a week's worth of camping is about 1/2 hour too long. Unless you stop for ice cream.

Food cooked and eaten outdoors is different. Delightfully so.

There are billions more stars out in the wilds.

A roaring campfire, a cold beer, a starry night and very good company all combine to create perfection.

Kids are brave and ready to try to succeed at anything.

A week camping seems to last but a moment.
:D

I love being out in the middle of nowhere. It's so calm and peaceful. Sheesh, I relax the moment I get out of town. I really need to move. lol

The stars are beautiful aren't they.

Btw, welcome back. :) Your trip sounds perfect.

Oh Bernie! What wonderful reflections! They all made me smile. :D :D :D

I want to go CAMPING!!! NOW! :teeth:

Welcome home Bernie.... we missed you around here. :)

Thanks for the mini-report, it made me smile!

Glad you had a good time, Bernie!

I'm glad you had fun! I love camping. Our next trip isn't scheduled for a few more weeks and I'm already getting excited about it.

Oh! How true! Now I really can't wait for our camping trip the end of this month!

Welcome back Bernie! Glad you enjoyed your trip.

All the reasons I love camping. Glad you had a good trip.

<font color=navy>We just got back from a camping trip, too - in the Sierras, w/a side trip to Yosemite for the afternoon - I couldn't agree with you more, and then some - love camping.

Welcome back, Bernie - you were missed. :)

btw ---- Here are a couple of pics I took when we were up in Yosemite - there was a fire going on @ Half Dome & I took pics

This is taken from Curry Village in Yosemite Valley of the fire:

This is taken from a place called Washburn Point, near Glacier Point, above the valley & overlooking the high sierra:

On my first camping trip 5 years ago I learned...

Don't wear your brand new white keds.

Don't bring your butane curling iron if you don't want to be made fun of.

Don't leave your lipstick tube in the sun.

Don't wear honeysuckle perfume.

This pretty much sums up my first camping trip! Sad but true!!

To me, camping is a hotel w/o room service. But the stars sound cool!

I really gotta figure out this camping thing.

I think I got the rope swing thing covered, though......;)

You do forget about everything when you are camping:D It also makes you ready for anything! We were camping last weekend and discovered our toilet was running and filling up the tank. Had to roll up the awning and go to dump station at 12 midnight! DH was able to do that and get back to campsite with only parking lights on in RV!!!!!

The stars are awesome. Being so close to a major city, I was blown away on a recent camping trip by the size of the stars.

Welcome back Bernie. It sounds like your trip was wonderful!

Thanks, Bernie....:D

I could add...

The wind rustling through tall pines as it comes down a mountain, is the voice of angels singing!

And

Good company makes for even better times!
