We have eaten at Pepper Market twice on previous trips and enjoyed the variety(each party can get what they want) and the value on DDP. We went on 12/29/08 and had a different experience. DH went to the wok station and had quick and accurate service. I, on the other hand, went to the Mexican station and when I ordered, I was first in line. I ordered the shrimp special. I then moved to the other side to wait and the kaos began! Within 2 minutes there were about 10 people waiting with me. There were 2 people working and they seemed to be very unorganized. They had about 10 orders working on the grill, but you have no number with your order. They just started calling out what the orders were, but who knows what order they were placed. After I finally got my order, I returned to the table and DH had eaten and had been waiting and wondering. It was not the best experience. The food is hot fresh and good, but hopefully I won't hit the same scene the next time.

Ugggghhhh Pepper Market... Brings back bad memories of the Coronado Springs Resort!! I'm sorry, I just did not like that place... I'm not sure which resorts you have visited in the past, but the price of the food at the Pepper Market is at least twice as much as the food at the other moderate resorts... AND I HATE THOSE STAMPS THEY GIVE YOU AT THE PEPPER MARKET!!!

Lesson--- Don't go to Coronado Springs... The other 3 moderates (Caribbean Beach, Riverside, and French Quarter) are all great!!

I had a similar issue at the grill station when we went last April. It gets a bit disorganized, but I still got my food faster than if I was at a sit-down place and found it worth the wait. If they are busy, you kind of have to keep your eye on your food, so they don't accidentally give it to someone behind you in line that ordered the same thing.

We went to the PM 3 times during our weeks stay at CSR. Never again!!

I have never seen so many rude CM's in one place! Our first time there DH went to the grill station to get us the steak and potato and veggie dinner. I took the kids to the kids station for their meals. I got the kids meals and took them back to the table. DH still wasn't even waited on. He eventually came back to the table with one of the dinners. They gave him fries instead of the potato and when he questioned it he was told - you get what you get. And was told another 10 minutes on the other meal. Needless to say the kids were done eating before he ever got his meal and I was half way done. He finally came back with his meal and again fries instead of the potato and this time no veggies. When I went to the bakery station to get a cookie for my dessert and asked for a choc. chip cookie the CM tried to give me a raisin cookie and when I told her she proceeded to argue with me.

We waited a few days and went back hoping for better service. Again I took the kids to the kids station and this time DH went to the pizza station to get our meals. He was the first one in line and the CM kept her back to him the whole time. Another CM actually told him that she could not wait on him and that he needed to wait for the other CM (the one who wouldn't turn around). Eventually he gave up (along with several others ) and we took the kids meals and left.

The third time we only went there because we had an hour to kill (and some CS credits left) before our ME bus came. That was the only time we had decent service. But, as always none of us were able to eat together due to some of the stations taking so much longer than the others.

We didn't care for how the kids always had to order from a separate station and how the CM's were so unfriendly.

Yes, I love the PM and all the varieties. I can't wait to get there in 31 days. Sorry about your mix up. Maybe they were training a new CM. The food is always hit, fresh and delicious. I'm looking forward to my wet burrito.

Sorry you had this issue. This happened once to us--but I must say they were very apologetic.

People eitiher love Pepper Market it or hate it. We've always had good meals there and our kids loved it. We let them go get their own food while we got ours (with me keeping an eye on them) and they felt very grown-up doing so. We've had some not so pleasant CM's, but we tend to not let it bother us and most times we take our food to go. I'm not going to let a CM ruin my trip. We found it to be the best food court of all the mods (although the one at POR is pretty good); the one at the Caribbean we went to twice and both times it was awful--only two stations open the first time we went and this was at 1:00 in the afternoon and the second time, with not a lot of choices, I had a burger. I've had better burgers at McDonald's and I hate McDonald's.

Like a resort itself, or a ride, or a meal at a table service, it all comes down to personal taste, preference, expectations.

I hope your next visit is better.

Sorry to those posters that did not have the best experience. We are planning to check out the Pepper Market on 1/25 and I can't wait! I think their menu looks really great - will try to post an indepth review with pictures when we return! 10 days, the countdown is on!!!!

Wow...10 more days. Do us a favor? See if the ribeye is still on the menu? Someone posted that it was not and we are all curious.

Have a great trip in case I forget to tell you in ten days. :goodvibes

It was a miss when I was there with the wife and family last June. Long story short, we got seated, got a round of soda's, waitress disappeared for the night. The waiter next table over ignored me whenever I tried to get his attention. I got Mexican, it was ok, not worth the money, the Italian my wife got she ended up asking to get it exchanged with something else, they did take care of that so it was a plus. Over all, service was poor and the food was overpriced for what we got, the automatic 10% tip didn't help either, we ended up going to Outback the next night and had two steak dinners plus meals for the kids for about the same price.

I wouldn't let it keep me from staying at CSR again though, we enjoyed the resort. I would just go elsewhere for food like we did the rest of the week.

I agree with you--it is expensive. But that is partially because it is not owned by Disney and it is aimed more at the conventioneers. The cost never bothers us because we are on the dining plan so it is actually a great deal for us. But we too only eat there about twice during our 9-10 day stay as there are so many places at Disney that we enjoy eating at.

Yeah the dining plan would probably make it more worth it, no arguments there.

Just a reminder it is ok to have differing opinions on a resort. That is what is great about WDW, there is something for everyone.

Thanks, safetymom!

Unfortunately, what's happening on the Disboards is waaaaay more than differing opinions.

Dh and I both ordered from the Mexican station and experienced the same thing but the food was good

We love the Pepper Market and eat there at least once each trip. I will say I can imagine it would be a nightmare during a busy season. There's really no designated place to stand while you're waiting for your food, and I can see how things could get mixed up quickly.

You are right. And I am going to contact the friends I've made on here (Buzz, Amy&Dan, MickeyNikki, etc.) and get their emails to stay in touch with them that way and stick with visiting the other forums where things are polite and friendly. Things have gotten way out of control here--by fans of all resorts, restaurants, etc. I am afraid in today's society everyone puts themself "first" and expects perfection from everyone else. And when they don't get it, they feel personally assaulted. Well, life is not perfect in any sense of the word. And not one employee or employer--be it Disney, Universal, Ford, Sony, AT&T--is perfect.

We ate there twice while we were there this last May. We liked it so much after our first time that we made it a point to do it twice. We loved it! I liked the variety and it was nice to know we had so many options. While I will admit the the service varied from our servers, it was never horrible. I think it helps that we were on the dining plan (only way to go IMHO) too. My wife loved being able to get something different than what I was having. Much better than your typical burger and fries joint. We will be hitting it again when we go back this Dec.

I love all the food there and my kids love the variety and independence of being a big kid and being able to get their own food and own stamp.

I like the cesaer salad, pizza and burgers. My DH likes the ribeye and mexican and the kids like the kids station and pasta. The desserts are all good! We have been lucky and had good service from the CM's. Some speak with a thick accent but that doesn't hinder their performance.

Went to PM last year because of the value posted with DD. All in all it is not worth the ride by bus to get there. If it where on food quality only I would give it a pass but the whole experience is not good. Having to wait for your food in a crowded place, noisy, and sitting table beside table is not too much fun. I'm suprised CS is still open. The place looks dirty to me. If what I wrote is not a big deal to you then by all means try it, you'll probably love it! Our favorite CS meal was at Wolfgang Puck's express!

When we went there last week, it was not on the menu any longer. We have been before and it was good before, but based on the experience we had last week, I would not recommend it.
