Hello, I am new to the forum. Joined because the family & I are going to USO March 17-21 for the first time (staying @ PBH). We have been to WDW several times before & I feel like I have that down pat. My main question is regarding the rides.

Universal is perceived as for "older kids". DD is 12 and DS is 9. My concern is that he is somewhat timid about thrill rides, though he will do some. At WDW he does ride Dinosaur, Expedition Everest & Star Tours, but will not do the Aerosmith roller coaster, Tower of Terror or Mission Space.

Any recommendations or warnings? I know if he goes on a ride & is scared, he will refuse to try anything else.:scared:

Thanks for this & any other advice, some of you guys are real experts!

He probably should miss Mummy and the big coasters at Islands of Adventure. Dr. Doom's is a ride he can watch and decide for himself.

The only ride that is really an unknown is Mummy because it is an indoor coaster. The big coasters and Dr. Doom you can see what you are in for.

Well, I also refuse to go Expedition Everest, Rockn RC, ToT, & Mission Space so I will tell you the other rides I might avoid at Universal/IOA.

At IOA, you will probably want to avoid Dueling Dragons and The Hulk as both are upside down rollercoasters. And maybe Jurassic Park River Adventure if he does not like Splash Mountain. Oh, and definitely avoid Dr. Dooms (it's a free fall type ride).

At Universal, most of the rides should be fine. The only ride you might want to avoid is The Mummy. It doesn't go upside down, but it is inside and dark.

Maybe someone else might be able to think of other rides you might want to be aware of....

Thanks, I specifically was thinking about Spiderman, Earthquake, Jaws & Twister. In a guidebook I have they are recommended for "10 & up", like Dr. Doom. Everest is for "7 & up", just for comparison.

There's always babyswap, I guess!

Spiderman, Disaster (which used to be Earthquake), Jaws and Twister are much milder than Everest.

If you want a look at them, go to Youtube and you should find onride videos all them all.

I can't help but LOL at the 10 and up
DD has been riding spiderman & Earthquake and going into Twister since she was 3. She also rode Jaws that trip, but has only rode it 1 or 2 x since. It really spooked her that first trip. She laughs about it now, but still won't ride. She said she knows the shark isn't real, but sharks are real.

Since you DS likes Dinasaur I would say Spiderman is absolutely OK, and Mummy is very likely.

I don't he would have any trouble with these attractions. Of the four, Spiderman is the roughest and it's much milder than Dinosaur. He should be fine.

Thanks for the info. My twins will be 7 1/2 when we are at US/IOA and I am not sure what rides they should go on. Is there a place I can look for the "recommended" age limits?
