Some random thoughts during a B2B on Dream

Greetings from the Dream! To thank everyone for all the helpful tips, I thought I’d share a few things from our current B2B. As background, my DH and I are Platinum cruisers and typically go on the Fantasy. We wanted to check out the Dream; the last time we were on her was 2015. We just came off the 3-day today and turned right around for the 4-day.

— Leaving this morning and returning for the B2B was easy as pie. We were through customs about 9:00. We were able to go right back up the escalator and didn’t have to go through security again. That felt like a dream — always wanted to jump right back up those escalators! We hung out in the Concierge fishbowl lounge with about 25 others and returned on board at 11:00. Waded around Satellite Falls for a bit as we had it to ourselves and relaxed before heading over to lunch. Loving this!

— Tony from Spain has been the adult evening host and is quite good! We miss Brent with the crazy socks, but we’ve enjoyed Tony.

— We purchased the Rainforest Couples pass on the 3-day for $99 + tax/gratuity. We didn’t receive any scrubs, but when we purchased our Rainforest Couples 4-day pass, we received scrubs (chocolate and some wonderful herbal). When we mentioned not receiving scrubs last cruise, they gave us another set. So make sure if you want them that you ask. We received a package of 4 in each bundle.

— We’re in Stateroom 5660 with a lovely extended verandah. Even better, we were able to easily watch the fireworks during Pirate night — no note about staying off the verandah and our room host confirmed it was ok to stay.

— Diet Coke and Coke Zero seem to be a bit interchangeable on board. Several times I ordered Diet Coke in the dining rooms and received Coke Zero. No worries, but thought it was interesting. At the self-service stations, Port side has Coke Zero and Starboard side has Diet Coke. Also, Starboard side has Seagram’s ginger ale, which was new to us.

— The shops on board have some cute Mickey Americana plates, bowls, and glasses on clearance ($7.99 each)

— The Design-Your-Own station is gone, but the Tiffany pop-up is still here. Cast on board said the permanaent Tiffany shop will be added next dry dock (if not sooner).

— Had no idea Diamonds International also had a presence in White Caps. Very different from when I last was on this ship.

I’m happy to anwer any questions. :)

When we were on in June, we were told by our assistant waiter that we would have to pay for Coke Zero in the dining rooms. She did add lemon to Diet Coke and that made it tolerable.

We have a very new assistant server, who I think may be confused about the difference between Coke Zero and Diet Coke. The one time the regular server brought over a refill, it was definitely Diet Coke. But all other times when the assistant server brought it over, it was Coke Zero. Our poor assistant server was a bit overwhelmed with two very large, somewhat crazy tables, so I don’t blame him if he was a bit confused. I drank whatever he brought — it’s all good on a cruise! :)

Oh! And one more thing — there was indeed a pirate’s night buffet with tacos, turkey legs, crepes and a bunch of other stuff. It wasn’t listed in the Navigator (paper or electronic), but our head server let us know about it. It was from 10:25-11:00 and if you look at the Navigator, the only hint of it is that Cabanas is listed as open during those times, which I think isn’t typical on other nights.

we might be looking into this.. We really want to do the Fantasy 7 nights but the dates dont work.. maybe will check out the B2B options. though we would love the Virgin Islands.. but 2 days castaways sound fun.

When you made the bookings,, did you or your agent note the b2b and did you know or were guarenteed the same rooms from the start?

If you make B2B bookings, DCL will know. You can choose to book the same room if it is available for both sailings. If you are set on having a particular room and it isn't available on both, you will have to go with a different one of keep checking back in the hope that it is cancelled on one leg or the other.

You would have the option to book a cabin that is available for both cruises - biggest difference with a cruise and a hotel: a cruise people are embarking and disembarking on the same day (even if you do B2B you physically disembark even if your stuff doesn't) so unless you're booking *GT or GTY then you know - barring anything like a mechanical problem with the cabin - what cabin you're in. I wouldn't do them *GT or GTY status because there is no guarantee there that you'd get the same cabin.

This.

Also, when you book remind DCL that it is a back to back (they use the term "consecutive" but understand what you mean by back to back) booking. They have a special code they will enter into each cruise so their system knows the two are B2B. We learned this when we booked our B2B2B because the CM had to look up the code and chatted with us while she did :-) We booked directly with DCL by a combo of phone and online and booked each leg first, then the CM went back and entered the code into each reservation.

We did combo phone and online because we had a placeholder we needed to apply to one of the legs. We were booking on opening day for Gold. We had done our research ahead of time and knew the specific room we wanted (and had a couple backups in the same area just in case). When reservations opened, I called and was put on hold. I also went online and booked two of the legs (the 2nd and 3rd legs of the B2B2B due to the expiry date of the placeholder), for the same stateroom. I verified that the stateroom was also available for the third leg and checked periodically while on hold. When I eventually got off hold I explained to the CM what I was doing and we booked the third leg using the placeholder (actually the first leg of the B2B2B due to when the placeholder expires out of its 24 months window). The CM then applied the "consecutive reservations" code to all three and verified all the details with me.

If you were to book online yourself, you could book each leg by itself then call DCL at a not so busy time and have them link them as consecutive cruises.

@mousefan73 I booked our 3-day with DVC and the 4-day through disneycruise.com. When I did the online check-in for the 3-day cruise, when it asked where I was heading after, I selected the Dream. That seemed to be enough to let Disney know wer were B2B. On the last night of the 3-day cruise, we received a envelope in our stateroom confirming the B2B and including the paperwork for the next cruise.

just booked today.

3 day and then 4 day....day off and then a 7 day. Next Oct. Can't wait.
When TA called Disney to link the 3 and 4, they did say a note would be in our room before departing the 3 day.
All Halloween Days at sea....we'll see how that goes
