Some questions on renting points?

I have been exploring this whole new way of staying at the world. :cool1:

I am curious about a couple of things. I notice that there are sometimes comments made like, "but you need to hurry as we are approaching the 7 month window". After reading through the FAQ section on this board, I notice that it states, "members can make reservations as EARLY as 7 months out". So I'm a little confused at what exactly the "7 month rule is"?

Also while checking the Points Calculator, I notice the season's are listed like "Adventure or Choice, but do not coincide with the normal Disney Season dates of Value, Regular, et.

Any clarification would be appreciated. :confused3

When a person buys a vacation club membership, they buy a deed at a specific resort. They own that resort for example. Whoever owns that resort gets the right to make reservations at that resort from 7 to 11 months out. No one else can reserve a room until less than 7 months out. It's a definite advantage when reserving for high occupancy times.

As joelebryk posted, at 7 months prior to check out any DVC member can make a reservation at any DVC resort. Prior to that, only members who own points at the DVC resort can make reservations. Owners of the resort can make reservations as early as 11 months prior to check out date. Once the 7 month window opens, availability can change very quickly - especially at the smaller resorts.

Yes, DVC seasons are different than those for the other WDW resorts. Also, if your DVC reservation spans seasons, you do not get the same rate for the whole reservation (like you would at the other WDW resorts). You "pay" the appropriate point rate for each night.

Slow times for the parks and non-DVC resorts are not always slow times for DVC reservations. A good example of this is the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Space at the DVC resorts for this time books quickly - there's not a lot of space left by the time the 7 month window opens. This same time is relatively slower for the non-DVC resorts - you certainly don't have to book so far in advance to stay at most of them between thanksgiving and Christmas!

HTH clear up some of the confusion.

Best wishes -

Also, BCV books up quickly for summer and for Food & Wine Festival (also BWV for F&WF) in October.

VWL is small and everyone loves the look of Christmas there, so Nov and Dec are gone quickly. Grandvillas are only at BWV, OKW and SSR, so those usually go quickly as well.
