Some questions from a potential point renter

We are considering a 2 bedroom in January 06. I gather from reading some of the posts here that if we are serious, we should probably get a move on. It seems DVC'ers may travel more in the slower seasons. Am I right there? Dh, dd, and I had been planning on CR (love the monorail), but we have now invited another family along who have a different budget. We have been considering 3 rooms at a value (hard to pass up the Toy Story figures for the kids), but for the space and cost, a dvc point rental seems much wiser in many ways.

We are currently making some decisions between OKW and BWV. There will be 2 families--4 adults, and 2 kids (4 yrs old). I like BWV for location, styling, activities, etc. I like OKW for lower points and size of room. So my questions:

1. How difficult is it to obtain a standard view reservation for a 2 bedroom the second week of January?
2. I'd love your reactions to transportation. Obviously, BWV is great for Epcot and MGM, but do the long hallways offset that convenience at all? Considering shared busses, how long would one realistically expect it to take to get to and from MK and AK? For OKW, similar questions, but I gather there, a car is a better option.

There's still a chance we may not rent points, but I want to get my ducks in a row, so I'd appreciate any assistance in thinking about these villas I can get.

Thanks

You may want to consider the new package available with meals and passes included hard to pass that one up. It may work out cheaper going that route as your meals will be covered in the package unlike with a DVC rental and having to pay for meals or groceries.

At this point, a 2BR in January should be readily available - although a standard view at BWV may be tougher. The hallways at BWV shouldn't present any challenge, if that's where you'd prefer to stay. The bus rides to MK and AK will take about 15-20 minutes.

At OKW, the bus rides are similar and a car is not necessary unless you plan to travel to other resorts a lot. The 2BR villas at OKW are much larger, but you will not be able to walk to any parks from the resort.

Just make a decision which resort you'd prefer and post your dates, resort and room type on the Rent/Trade Board. I'm sure you'll be able to find a member eager to assist.

Enjoy!

Actually, the free dining package is only available 8/21 - 10/4, so that's not an option for you.
