I have a few quesitons about OKW and hope some of you can help. We are leaving in just 14 days, so I have some last minute questions

Will I need to bring paper towels/toilet paper with me? How about dish detergent, sponges, laundry detergent? What were a few of the things that you forgot that seemed so obvious but still forgot them. I feel like there are so many things we will need but for some reason I can't think of them.

A few things that I have already for our trip are:

small bottle dish detergent
sponge
tissues
antibacterial wipes
toddler wipes (flushable, can these be used in the toilets at the resort?)
sandwich bags
dryer sheets

Should I bring aluminum foil and/or clear wrap?

Any input would be great!!!

Thanks

PS - is there a cork screw and a can opener

There are many experts on the boards that can give you a link to everything you will find in the larger units. (I assume you are staying in a 1 bdroom or larger.) But I'll let you know that you can expect anything you find in a regular hotel room (toilet paper, tissues, small shampoos) plus kitchen stuff like a roll of paper towels, some dish soap, a sponge and the normal kitchen utensils. It will be small quantities but they replenish every 4 days so you probably won't run out--unless you are a large group and fixing every meal in the room. But they only supply you with one single-use box of laundry detergent so you will want to bring enough to do however many loads you think you'll do -along with dryer sheets if you like those.
You will want to bring any disposable kitchen things like aluminum foil, plastic wrap, ziplocs, etc.
There is a corkscrew. I'm not sure about the can opener-- I'm sure there is one there but I'm not sure if it is a handheld or electric.
We were surpised at how well equipped the villas are. Better than quite a few young married's apartments!

Skip the dish soap, sponge and tissues. Bring the rest along with anything you need for laundry. Also bring salt and pepper if you think you might need them.
If you run out of anything that is supplied in your villa, just call for free replacements. The exceptions would be coffee and filters and laundry soap--there is a charge for replacing these between trash/towel or cleaning schedule. While mousekeeping supposedly charges for shampoo, conditioner and shower gel if you need it between trash/towel and cleanings, we have never been charged.
One other suggestion: clothespins or chip clips.
You did not state the size of your unit. If you are in a studio you can get as many paper plates and plastic utensils as you need. There are no sharp knives to cut anything in the studios, so if you are staying in one you may want to pack a knife.

Thanks for the input, we are staying in a 2BR unit.

Another question - would anyone have input on a good location to request. I am recovering from a broken foot and would like to be close to the main pool but also to a quiet pool, is there such an area? I will request 1st floor and keep my fingers crossed for that. I am not concerned about being near a bus stop since we will have a car.

Please keep the advice coming!!!

If you're a coffee drinker, definitely bring standard basket style coffee filters. They're more expensive on site, and they give you weak little coffee packs in filters that likely won't get you far.

Utensils, can openers, soaps, dishwashing liquids, etc are all pretty well supplied...I wouldn't worry about them.

If you have a favorite bath gel or some specialty...it might be worth bringing for the awesome big jacuzzi tub.

You can request the area near the hospitality house, however this is actually a reservation request area - it might be too late to add the request to your booking, but you can give it a try. Otherwise, there really isn't anything quite close to the main building AND a quiet pool. The closest would be Miller Road buildings right on the quiet pool, which would leave you a doable walk to the main house. Of course, you can always catch a bus to the main building, or drive over and park in your car.

Personally, I prefer taking busses (or boats) to driving when I'm there - but to each their own on that one. The boat to Marketplace is such a lovely long cruise through lush settings, and will give you a sneak peak of Treehouses and pass Saratoga and west end of Downtown Disney on your way over.

Thanks for the info on the coffe filters, I was actually at the store yesterday and didn't buy them because I didn't know what kind we would need in our room. You must of read my mind.

The boat ride is something I am looking forward to. My DH is the one who must have the car, me on the other hand it doesn't really matter. As you said it is definetly a personal choice.

Thanks again

There is a handheld can opener in the room..If you have a bad foot you can ask for a handicap room.. they are always on the first floor..
I always bring powdered laundry deteregent.. easier to travel with then liquid..

I have a few quesitons about OKW and hope some of you can help. We are leaving in just 14 days, so I have some last minute questions

Will I need to bring paper towels/toilet paper with me? No How about dish detergent,no sponges, no laundry detergent?you get 1 box of Tide powder, so it depends on how much laundry you intend to do What were a few of the things that you forgot that seemed so obvious but still forgot them. I feel like there are so many things we will need but for some reason I can't think of them.

A few things that I have already for our trip are:

small bottle dish detergent don't need-they supply it
sponge don't need-they supply it
tissues don't need-they supply it
antibacterial wipes if these are important to you, bring them
toddler wipes (flushable, can these be used in the toilets at the resort?) I don't know
sandwich bags bring them
dryer sheets bring them

Should I bring aluminum foil and/or clear wrap? I usually do
Any input would be great!!!

Thanks

PS - is there a cork screw and a can opener yes if there's not, you can get them from Housekeeping
We usually stop ata store and buy some grocery items...we don't cook meals in our villa...we do have breakfast in the villa...usually breakfast sandwiches or cereal...something pretty simple. I usually bring some ziploc bags, I buy aluminum foil when we go shopping. The kitchens are fairly well-stocked with utensils and have all the common appliances...microwave, dishwasher, stove, coffeemaker, fridge w/freezer w/ice maker. You can call for a teapot if you are a tea drinker. I bring salt, pepper, sugar, tea bags, splenda for DH's cereal.

If you plan on doing a lot of cooking at the villa, then you have to plan to be able to store possible leftovers, so aluminum foil and some ziploc bags would probably be a good idea.

As far as laundry detergent, I try to bring a few of the one load packets...you can get them at Bed,Bath & Beyond. There's also a website called www.minimus.com that has a lot of travel size stuff. I have also been known to put a squirt of dish soap into the washer in a pinch...a VERY SMALL SQUIRT as it creates a lot more suds than laundry soap. Dryer sheets I cut in half....still softens and destatics the clothes and they go twice as far.
